Love that you jumped right into the exercises. So many physio videos spend way too much time talking at the start and lose my interest. Your video is simple, encouraging and very do-able.
Agree. I just subscribed to this channel. I won’t name the channel I unsubscribed from, however they defiantly claim that self absorbed chit chat is what makes their channel “friendly”.
I am 82 and have been looking for exercises to keep my legs strong . I have had one bad fall and don’t want another. Thank you so much for this excellent video. This is so much better than others that I have seen, thank you. I will start these today…
I’m so happy I found your channel. I’m trying to walk and regain full function & recover from 3 years of wheelchair use due to autoimmune disease. I’m totally going to be watching your channel. Thank you
I am a 64 year old that struggles with mobility because of multiple sclerosis. I want to thank you for your videos. I find them very helpful and the way you keep it short and with options to make it easier or more difficult is perfect.
Thank you for the kind words 😊 It is an honor to have so many viewers watching these videos (I never expected that in my wildest dreams!). I hope this can help people, even in the slightest way
I don't know why, but YOU inspired me to do these exercises for 10 minutes - age 71 and breathing deeply now as I was exerted - oxygen is a nutrient, dear friends - thank you bless you many times over for inspiring me😇I will do daily as I hate exercising and 10 minutes I can stomach!!!
Chair squats, remember nose over toes anytime going from sitting to standing. After septic shock in 2016 i learned this in therapy learning to walk again. Long road but still do exercises to stay strong. Now 67, knock on wood no falls.
Good point! Nose over toes is a great reminder to lean forward. it helps quite a bit with sit-stand. also, I hope you have a speedy recovery get back to 100% 🙏❤️
You just popped up, I will be turning 70 this year I’d been to physical therapy last year but too busy to follow through so now you came just subscribed I can watch you as I go along my exercise I will update you 😊
I am 68 and try to keep myself active by doing all household chores...no maid or any house help...buy my groceries from the local market myself, though my only daughter who lives abroad, keeps telling me ..'why take the trouble when everything is available online'..but still there are times i feel my legs don't side me like they used to ...climbing stairs or walking on uneven footpaths...so i really hope these exercises will help me...they look simple..
I’m 67 and feeling the same way. I’ve been noticing that when I’m getting out of my car, my left leg doesn’t support me like it used to. That was scary. I’m going to definitively try these exercises. Good luck to us! As my dear mother used to say, and I would laugh at her when I was young, “Getting old isn’t for sissies!” I didn’t know how right she was!!
I like your video - the clearly illustrated exercises and time frame are very achievable. But, one thing that really made your video stand out for me is that you used the entire video focused on exercises and not chattering on medical background. Too many experts - IMO - spend too much time on information that is overkill for the audience. Yes, education on the “whys and hows” are important, but, really, I’m not trying to get a certificate. It’s more important to me to get to the work first! Thanks!
The best way to build leg strength from foot to hip, Stair Steps. Use bottom two steps of stairs, step up to second step with left foot then step back down. Do left leg double steps 100 times then right leg double steps 100 times, then left 100, then right 100. Each time you are stepping up you are lifting your body weight. I am 70 and up to 1200 double steps, my thighs & calves are muscle.
@tillytogs I step up to second step with left leg lifting my body weight, then bring right foot up to second step, then step back with right then step back with left foot, do 100 double steps lifting body weight with left leg. Then do the same process on right leg lifting body weight with right leg 100 times. Hope this explains it.
My legs are fine but my lungs are shot. I went from walking 2-3 miles regularly to not being able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath almost overnight... I'm 67 and have been diagnosed with asthma, this all began shortly after I had spent a couple of weeks helping a buddy finish a house renovation. The work was dirty and dusty, but I wore a respirator or face covering for the most part. Started getting problems with my breathing a couple of weeks after I had finished the work... Now waiting for a referral to a Asthma clinic, until then I don't even have any medication to help ease the symptons
Appreciate the comprehensive video. I tore my medial meniscus and medial collateral ligament five monghs ago. Exercised like crazy at the beginning. I'm from the generation that works through the pain. So continued my Qigong horse stance etc. Then pain was very bad got mri and well results showed I'd injured myself. Not a good idea to work through pain. Now 5 months on I'm ready to follow your routine. No horse stance for me probably never. I'm a 69yr old female😊
I just started today doing your exercises. I’m trying to work on getting my strength back on my knees after having total knee replacement surgery in one knee. Can you share some more knee bending exercises.
Many thanks for this video ! i'm trying to make my 76 years old father doing some exercice as he is overweight and struggle to the simpliest task with the exercice you can perform while sit, i expect he try them !
Good variety of exercises and thank you for showing an easier version of the exercises. I do squats and treadmill daily, but I will definitely try the other ones you showed. I'll let you know how I make out :)
Thanks for sharing these useful exercises. Some of them i already do and i find my legs strengthening. Of late i have seen that when i rest i get pain/ache in my calves. Any special exercises to relieve this please.
Thank you. I must correct you in one part how breathing works : you have three parts of time in breathing: the first third is taking in thei air, and TWO thirds to let the breath go. Why? Taking breath in is the active part, letting it go is the passive part.
Please give us a regimen for arm strength, too. I am in my 60s and starting to feel shoulder pains when lifting my arms. My doctor says it's from deteriorating muscles around the cuff of my shoulder plus poor posture and rounding of the back. What can I do to get stronger arms? Thank you...
Thank you for sharing this useful information! Is it also suitable as well as recommendable for individuals in their early forties? I would appreciate your comments! Kind regards, Anna
Yes, absolutely! It's never too Early or too late to do these kind of leg exercises. What matters is you do some sort of movement and find the right challenge. I hope this helps!
I just turned 70 and want to try these exercises. It would be very helpful to have a PDF file that described each exercise with a couple picture illustrations to have near my exercise chair. Does that exist?
Hi, these feel like great exercises but I get real knee pain when doing your favourite. Do you think this may go away if I persist? If not, what course of action do you recommend I take? Thanks.
