    Great watch, love mine. Only dislike: cannot manually set (=calibrate) barometric altitude.

    loved the honesty. purchased fr55 and just saw this for about 90 dollars. unsure if it is clean and working as claimed but damn... still a nice watch.

      Garmin will refurbish old watches for $100. If you found a failed one for $50 or less, it would be worth it.
      If $90 gets you a fully functional watch, you're in like Flynn!

    I started my triathlon journey using the 920XT and eventually moved over to the Fenix 3 HR for the built-in heart optical sensor and then eventually to the Fenix 6XPro and Forerunner 945. I have decided to sell the bulky Fenix 6XPro as it is bulky and has far too many functions for my daily training needs. I use the Garmin Edge 530 on the bike and it does the job. I have kept the 945 as a backup but the screen is too small. The 920XT is a very unique and amazing watch for its age. I have purchased a second-hand one and just use a Wahoo Fit arm HR sensor and I am happier now as I am not focusing on too much data. Less is more when you need certain data such as pace and heart rate. Yes, the latest Garmin watches are full of tech and better features but at the end of the day, training per heart rate and using an effective program is better than any other tool. You do not need a watch to tell you if you need rest if you follow a simple program and get enough rest each day.

      My 920XT is still chuggin' along. I _might _ upgrade to a newer Garmin model if my 920 gives up. Right now, though, it does what I need.
      Thanks for the comment and the view!

    Thanks for the nice review. I've bought used 920XT for about 70USD recently and have to say, it's really the good engine even if 6 years old. I can agree with all that was said. Battery life 1 week (incl. 3 hours of running with GPS on), GPS catching within 10 seconds while outdoor, accuracy ok. Setup of it ... um ... I needed the printed user guide, but after it was easy. Possibility to set up to 4 data screens with 2-4 data fields, + 2 screens of running diagnostics +map +daytime, that's simply great. Watch is thick but not heavy, strap is wide and comfortable, HR chest strap pretty sharp and connectivity both BT and Wifi easy and quick. Better then I expected when buing it.

      $70 with a strap is almost a robbery. I wouldn't tell the police about it! 🤣
      The functionality of the watch is great, and the battery life is just amazing.

    Heck yeah! The bells and whistles aren't what's really important. The 920 does great at capturing swim/bike/run data. And that's kind of what's important. 👍🏻

      EXACTLY!!

      Saving money and still getting important data is cooler! 🤣

    Love my 920XT. Bought it new 7 years ago and it is still going strong. I have the red and white one. I do wish I did not have to wear the chest strap. That is the only negative.

    Now I feel like I need one of these. I have an Apple Watch and honestly don’t know how to do much on it. It’s too fancy... But this was a great video! :) I just subscribed to your channel and I look forward to seeing more content:) From, Collins Country

      I'll be honest... I'm anti-Apple. LOL
      The big thing about the Apple Watch, as well as the Gear from Samsung, is that it's a smart watch first and a "fitness" watch second. Though it will do the job, I don't think it is well suited to triathlon.
      If you ask me, Garmin is king in that department.

    Recently I have bought Instinct to replace my 920XT, but in the end it looks like 920XT is much better for biking. I guess Instinct will stay with me as everyday watch, while 920XT as activity tracker

    • @TheCelticClydesdaleShow
      @TheCelticClydesdaleShow  3 роки тому

      I'm not too up to speed on the Instinct, but I know it isn't the best choice for a triathlete.

    Have this watch since it was released and still a big fan. The strap not so much, i've broken a few in the years. With normal use.
    Also, I used to have turn-by-turn navi but since a few months I can't get it working anymore. If anyone has a thought on this, please let me know. I need this for my off-road trail runs..

      With the strap?! That's actually a really good deal. They're very tough to find with a strap included, and usually sit in the neighborhood of $150 (about £110).
      Did you get the black/blue or the white/red model?

  • @barryfeatheringill6472

    With the 920xt being older model will it possible have battery issues?

    • @TheCelticClydesdaleShow
      @TheCelticClydesdaleShow  3 роки тому

      Absolutely, especially if you buy it second hand. In this case, I'd ask how long it's lasting before buying it.
      If you happen to find a refurbished 920XT, it should have a fresh new battery in it. In theory, you'd have no issues at all, in this case, and would see some pretty grand battery life.
