Learning the different coat colors would be beneficial to your narrations. The one you said may be a “champagne color is actually a grey. Most horses born grey start out with a bey, black, chestnut, sometimes grey coat. Looking at the skin will show that it is actually a grey. These horses gradually turn to a grey coat as they age. Chestnuts will always have a flaxen or red mane and tail. Bay or bey will always have a black mane and tail and sometimes black on the legs even with white markings. Every color can vary in hue from light to dark but will always fit these rules for coat coloring. The reserve champion is a chestnut and the champion is a bey.
@@sandyhubbard6618 OK thanks for the info. Although champagne is not an official color for Arabian Horses, a lot of people might still call that one a champagne before it eventually lightens up into a light gray.
I always thought that the longer white on the legs were the stockings and the shorter white leg coloring were socks. When people wear them, stockings are longer (like nylon stockings) and socks are shorter. Also, I would say that the filly you thought was maybe a bay looked like a gun metal gray.
