Shorebirds are tricky for sure😵💫
Hey great vid, you should try doing a video on why the state bird of Utah is the California gully, I think it’s pretty fascinating!
Thanks Andrew!! If you go back far enough I do have a video on why the state bird of Utah is a California Gull. Twas a long time ago tho haha
Forgetting your camera at home seems to work for red-throated loons 😂 but mostly using rare bird alerts and the birding community!
Haha that’s a sure way to see something amazing 😂
@brighteyedbirding heading back out on the boat today but bringing the camera this time! Not sure if we will find one but fingers crossed 🤞🏻
I had been searching for my nemesis bird (at the time), a worm eating warbler at a small preserve close to where I lived in Gainesville Florida, when I saw a kingbird on a tree just off the road. I'd actually seen this bird a number of times coming back from the birding spot but never paid attention. It looked like a western kingbird, which would have been rare for the county, especially considering the season. So I took a pic, shared it with the local county birding Facebook group, and some expert birders rushed over to the spot and confirmed it as a Western Kingbird. They normally only pass through quickly but that this one had stuck around a bit was cool. A number of local birders got to see and photograph it.
Oh wow, that's awesome! So much fun when you get to share a rare bird and other people get to also see it!
Can you make a video on nightjars?
I’ll see what I can do!
Thanks for letting me come along! It was a good time. I don’t understand how everyone else is finding these semipalm sandpipers, lol. I went there again two days later and saw 0 peeps.
Of course! We will go out again soon! The luck is not with us right now haha
Yeah, almost impossible to not be mesmerized by the Great Blue Heron (or Egrets) no matter how often you get to see them. It's probably the closest we will get to being amongst pterodactyls.
They do look a lot like pterodactyls!
This right after I drove past my county’s 2nd Bronzed Cowbird 💀
You’ve stolen my luck 🍀
Giant crane stabby beak-things is so real
😂😂
My newest rare bird was a tricolored heron at Montezuma wildlife refuge , that bird was absolutely gorgeous!
Oh wow that's an awesome find! Congrats!
@@brighteyedbirding thanks! It was originally spotted on the evening of July 15 and I saw it on July 23
Utah's state bird is CA Gull??!! I'll look for your video on that topic!! Agree, peeps are hard. Lotsa great shots of shorebirds, and those killdeers kept photobombing!
Yes, I use eBird rare bird alerts too. I'd love to spot a rare bird then be the one to share it 🙂Thanks for the tips!
Yep it's funny haha. Thanks for watching the video!
I live in the Atlantic Rainforest :)
Oh wow that's pretty cool! You probably see some awesome birds!
Good morning to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰. This rare bird app doesn’t work in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR as it is for birds across the US.
Aw didn’t know that! I’m sorry!
Love the tips! Might have to download the Birding app myself
Thanks for watching! It's a handy gadget to have
