Crazy how much go on behind the scenes, in order to win a World First in WoW. Mad props to Max, this is by far your best episode Q - LOVED the questions.
Haven't played WoW in 5+ years, but I find I enjoy this interview series regardless of what game the interviewee plays. You are such an engaging and thoughtful interviewer Quazii. Please keep this up
@44:00 This was where I failed as a raid leader. I never felt confident enough in the strength of my roster to cut players like the ones that max is talking about. Over the years, those players grew in number and became a cohort that I couldn't remove without effectively killing my team. I'm glad I don't run a team anymore, but if I had to go back and do it again, I would have taken that hit as early as possible and really tried hard to manage that skill delta that Max discussed earlier in the episode.
I came back to WoW at the end of Legion. I HATE I missed Pandaria, the WoD drought and the height of Legion, but got to see these guys rise in BFA as I was relearning the game from scratch after quitting in Cata. I aspire to be half as good as some of these guys, but when I can only play 2-3 days a week as a healthcare professional, life gets in the way. It’s great to hear from these guys perspective. It’s almost like watching your favorite sports interviews thinking you can compete when your best effort is backyard football with your 4 kids knowing your backs gonna ache leading into 12 hours of work tomorrow.
I'm 40 years old, been playing since classic and still love the game. It had its moments like all games but always come back to it. Love this @quazii (great interview) and @maximum is always great to watch. Watch poddyc and his streams all the time.
@Quazii I was a casual player (e.g., LFR andy) from Warcraft 2 until Shadowlands. In Shadowlands, I started playing Mythic+ and achieved Keystone Master, and in Dragonflight, I reached Keystone Hero! I love your videos because they remind me of master class courses for a PhD degree and research area, aimed at excelling specific skills in a short time. Your hints for bosses and mobs in each dungeon are incredibly useful. Thank you!
Watching Quazi guides and seeing him do the react meta with Max on 'how WoW and FFXIV are different' videos to seeing him produce the best interview-based long form podcast in the space. What a ride. You love to see it.
Great interview and love max and his poddy C. Might be nice if quazii can interview more oce guilds and give them some exposure as well since you do play on an oce server.
I started playing WoW on a laptop with a trackpad in Wrath. I healed Ulduar hardmodes as a resto druid on a trackpad, laying in bed with my pillows stacked up as a backrest. A mouse is better, yes, obviously, but trackpad really isn't THAT bad.
I haven’t played wow since WoD and couldn’t get into FF14 but still can’t get enough of these podcasts. I love hearing about the thought process of higher end play and these are very well put together, keep up the great work!
Great video. Love Max, seems like a smart and honest lad. Is it possible you can get Scripe or Rogerbrown? I'd love to hear about their history with the game aswell.
Owning your mistakes is so hard but is pretty necessary for growth. Like problems can't really be addressed if the fact that there is a problem is denied. I started in SL being really honest about what I'm doing and owning my mistakes... really digging into them in logs, recording myself, and pushing M+ higher became so MUCH easier.
I’m so glad I was able to help Liquid get their guys geared up by helping them run splits during Arberus, Max is a hell of a raid leader and had us high geared pugs running like a well oiled machine
I had truefire xyro diggz in my 2nd guild i ran and knew about the limit guild way ahead of time. Glad i didnt join when asked by trufire and xyro i def didnt keep playing wow much longer compared to where the guild is now but good times though. Im glad the boys have kept it alive and going strong always great to see. Also raided with max in duality before i parted ways with duality for encore.
34:30 this would be super interesting to watch if hed be down to go over some kills and point out some individual things that players did that viewers might have missed watching it live
This guy’s only been playing since wod? A young guy compared to all the veterans. He’s also breaking the cardinal rule of threes when it comes to wow. You need the main tank, raid leader, and guildmaster to be three separate people. So power trips and rug pulls can never occur. One controls the guild, one controls the loot and one controls the pulls.
The wage gap for these players just because it's a difference in market and considering it has nothing to do with the guilds or individual performance is a very fascinating topic. I am not sure about every esports but in the ones I follow, the salary difference between EU and NA leagues/pro scene is absolutely insane.
The "RWF" as a sport is digging its own grave by increasing difficult to reach the top. Just look back 5 years and see what guilds competed for the win compared to today. If Echo would quit Limit would also be "Worthless" because who is interested to watch a "race" where someone won by the time the others just started? Fyrakk was very intense and fun to see due to Echo and Liquid being so close. RWF needs to bring down the standards and money needed to compete and focus more on skill level. If this continues its basicly a Pay to Win race... Like if Liquid has more funds, offers best players in Echo 10x higher salary to game for them. Woopsie. Echo would be milked out and will perish. Both theese guilds needs eachother but its too fragile to just have 2 guilds. Need at least 5 guilds competing for the top to keep the wheel spinning. I have competed in various motorsports where things have ended in the fashion i just described, and its very very hard to recover from it Great videos!
i used to be just like that back in the days when i raided with my guild, being one of the best players doing loads of damage and almost never fucking up, completely ignoring what anyone said, raid leader on mute and just blasting music on max. Which sounds incredibly stupid now, but i guess the raid leaders accepted it simply becausethey knew thats one less person they needed to worry about helping with mechanics or improving damage or whatever.
Why do the top 2 guilds think a RWF that only lasts 1-3 days would "DIE" or kill the RWF event? I dont understand, is it purely because the money in would be shrunk from 2-3 weeks of high views to only 3 days of high views so the amount advertisers will pay is less? Is that literally all it is? Because I know SO many people that would love a shorter race from a viewers perspective.
A longer race means more viewer and participant investment. It’s simply human nature. 2-3 days isn’t enough to build investment and hype. You can see this evidently in FF14 which had both 24h races and week long ones - guess which ones generated massively more hype and viewership?
@@michiganhughes Oh okay, so even avoiding a WoW vs FF14 comparison the fact was even in the scope of just FF14 when there was a 24hr race there was less hype than week long. Okay fair makes sense.
@@KillchainGames-xg2lg I like to think about it in terms of anticipation. I think when a big sports event occurs, there was a lot of build-up(in the playoffs I think they call it) leading up to the event. From the Superbowl to whatever baseball and basketball do, you're building up the anticipation and excitement. I'm not sure that comes across if the race is over in a couple of hours.
Easier races are way more impacted by the NA/EU release diff as well and if they make them too easy in a strat sense you could have things like optimising how long to do splits for vs when to start the raid being more significant than player skill.
Quazii, you're crushing these interviews. You're such an underrated, gem of a person in the WoW community. Big love from Australia.
Totally agree, Quazii is putting in so much work, hope he gets the recognition he deserves eventually :)

max is such a good yapper, i fall asleep so fast i cant even focus listening... i can only imagine his choir singing would be a guaranteed lullaby
