This is an old school technique the 60s players (especially Motown) would do for their records, but most would actually just cut up a piece of foam and stick it in their bass.
Right!? It was pretty crazy! Adding post production to recorded instruments is cool and all, but sometimes you just gotta mess with the instrument itself😆
Awesome. I discovered the wonderful world of sock guitar in the early 90s. My friends would make fun of me, but sock guitar on six string, bass and, my personal favorite, fretless bass, is a useful tool, especially in the studio. Just use a clean sock :)
I was expecting this guy to have thousands of subscribers, but only 60?!?!?!?!? Keep going and you WILL be big someday for sure.
Thanks so much for the support!
I thought the same!
thats basically a DIY foam mute. makes it sound "vintage"
"Vintage" is so the perfect description for it! Yes lol!

Oh cool! I didn't realize it was so popular that long ago. Thanks for the info!

The sock made it sound more acoustic! 😮

Genius the sock sound for the bass guitar 😊
Haha thanks man! Always thinking of ways to change things up every now and then😆
i can use my bedside socks for a crunchier sound
Bro ew
I use a piece of foam from furniture packaging for similar effect, keep rocking man!
Yo, furniture packaging would sound so cool. I know what I'm doing after my next Ikea purchase😂
Kind of what Carol Kaye does with foam.
Sounds dope!
that actually sounds sick
I think you should do a series of putting objects under the strings and seeing what they sound like 😅

Man that's so cool! I never knew so many people used the sock/foam technique! It's a sick sound for sure!
Try a sponge instead of a sock.
Good idea! I'll definitely have to try that in a future video!
Low sub count surprised me
Flips the term "put a dock in it" on its head a bit. Nice jam.
That's good😂
Sponge!
Ooo not a bad idea...may have to try that in a short😉
