I took 2 pieces of 1/4 inch x 1 steel about 6 or 7 inches long and drilled 3/8 inch holes in them. One hole in each end, one in the center. I connect the two rear lower pulleys together on each side with the metal pieces to double the weight while using either the leg attachment or doing back work. It works great. Pulling both at the same time prevents one of the pulleys in the back of the machine from functioning, making the weight heavier, just in the same way as the weight can be increased on the smith bar.

Hey Matt, great video. We just received our machine 4 weeks ago. Self-installed. On the leg curls setup, another way to help even out is to raise the seat up to about top of cushion roller, saw this online somewhere, thought I'd pass it on.
Thanks for the tips. I've had my machine for 2 years now, and nice to pick up some new tips. I gotta say, I like the newer black color over my grey! Best machine ever though!
Great video. Couldn’t figure out the leg extension and cable hookups. I just had knee surgery and didn’t want the cable to come lose. A better design would be a closed connection without having to go around the tube before connecting
You're going to love it, the worst part is putting it togther though lol. Don't try to rush and you'll enjoy it. Also make sure you have it exactly where you want it before you put the weights on it because it ain't going nowhere after that. Even without the weights it's super heavy. If you have any more questions let me know
Matt Tolbers I’m loving the machine Matt. I do have one question. Did you have any trouble putting the pins in the weight stacks? One is perfect. I have to apply pressure from the top of the other for the pin to go in. Thanks.
Only time is if I have a heavy attachment hanging from the cable it slightly lifts up the plates so gotta push it down a bit to put pin in. Sounds like you need to adjust the pulley that is directly above the weight stack
I haven't read all of the comments, so maybe this has been mentioned already, but the seat comes up - you can angle it up when you do your hamstrings, so you can leave the leg extension portion where you had it - don't drop it so there's no pin in the hole - just angle the seat portion up a notch or so, and it will be far more comfy.
@@MattTolbers Understood - I couldn't tell if you knew that, based on how you described your method - all good though, keep up the good work! I love my FT2!
@@MattTolbers Did those D-handles come with yours? My FT2 is the older version, so it has gray paint, and the D handle on mine has flat edges, they aren't tapered like yours, and I'm interested in where to get them, assuming you like them
@@MattTolbers 100% agree ! I have a few free weights (power blocks and more), but there really isn't anything that I need to do that I can't do with this machine. Granted, I can't do cleans and then drop the bar (though that might be an option, I wouldn't want to test it) I can still use the straight bar attachments by hooking them up to the carriages on the sides, and do things like bench press with that bar, instead of just using the smith bar, so you still have to work to keep the bar balanced, but anyway - you know we could talk all day about this setup, so I'm going to leave it here. Peace out!
Hi, When you show the tip on doing the seated row at the beginning of your video when you hook the 2 pulleys together doesn’t it cause stress on the cables moving on the side of the inside of the pulleys because those pulleys don’t swivel? Have you noticed any cable tearing on the cables ? Thanks
You can make it double weight for some workouts by just connecting both the bottom middle pulleys like I did for the seated rows. Also get both the extra 50lb weight stacks and put the 5lb adder plates on the stacks. The pull downs use both pulleys. That should be more then enough for most workouts, if you need more pull one of the weight stack pins out a bit and put a 45lb plate on it. I've only done it once, but used to do that trick at the gym all the time.
For squats - Does the weight have to be engaged at the bottom of your first rep? Cant you just set the safeties and then "rack" the bar at the top so that the weight is on the bar for the first rep's eccentric portion? Same for bench press - I'd want to be "unracking" the bar at the top of the range of motion with weight on it. I'd hate to have to put the weightless bar all the way to my chest to hook into the weight stacks and begin the exercise from the bottom of the range of motion.
No you don't have to start at the bottom for your first rep. You start at whatever height you want with the weight selected and then you spin the bar forward a bit to disengage the safeties do you reps and when your done at your top height you spins the bar back to neutral a bit and it will lock the safeties in place. Hope that answer your question
Great tips Matt, We are getting one delivered next week, an important question we have is, how much room do we need in front of it, say, to do low cable rows, front shoulder raises, pec flies, and leg extensions, 3-4 feet? Thanks.
Hey Ron, you're gonna want a minimum of 4ft, if you can get 4'6'' you will have plenty of room. The bench with the leg attachment stick out away and when you go to do leg extensions or curls your feet will make it stick out more which is why I recommend 4 and half feet if you can.
Hi Matt. Are you able to add a 45lb plate or other to the leg attachment? The attachment seems too low on mine or that the plate would hit the bottom angled grab bar. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the information. Can you measure the length of the feet only. I know the dimensions are online, but that is overall size. I'm trying to get the length of the feet only so I can design how much mat I want to fit in my space.
Really considering getting one of these. Do you have any pics of the excersice chart that comes with it? Wondering how detailed it is and how many different excersices it Contains?
Hey Jonathon, it actually comes with a very nice booklet with quiet a few workouts for each muscle group. I know Inspire Fitness has a nice app they should have even more workouts demonstrated
Awesome video Matt. I am going to get one for sure; your video put my mind at ease that it can do everything I want. Many online companies have this unit, but some are scams. Where did you buy it from?
I ordered it from Amazon at the time, but not in stock currently. I’d recommend ordering it from precor home fitness website. Looks like it’s pre order at moment and will ship in 4+ weeks. That’s probably your best option right now.
Great video. I have a small room and I would like to know how much space you need in total from the back of the trainer. I have space on one side as you suggest but I’m worried about the free space in front of it.
Hi there; I'm considering buying this machine but although I see the dimensions on their website, I cannot tell what is the width on the back of the machine (I see the front is 61 inches but its base forms a "V" so I would like the width on the back because Im considering putting on a corner) Any chance someone could tell me that?
What is the best place to put this unit in the house? Upstairs or downstairs? We have ordered one and it should be coming in soon. Not sure if it is too heavy for an upstairs room.
It will be close to 1000 pounds so downstairs would be best if you can, but depends if you have enough ceiling clearance. I'm sure many people have it upstairs, I just don't know how much weight your house can handle. Many people put super big heavy fish tanks in there house without issue but I don't know enough about what a floor can handle to say. If you find out some info let me know!
Hey! Great video. I was trying to figure out if I could get fully extended when doing lat pulldowns. Are you able to go through a full range of motion and if so, how tall are you?
Hi Matt, for the seated row exercise, did you say that the bar that u can put ur feet on comes with the machine? What is it called? I just bought a FT2 and it didn’t come with it. The manual never says it comes with it neither. Please advise on what I should do. Thank you!
Hey Albee, it only comes with that piece if you bought the bench and ft2 combo. So since you didn't buy the bench yours wont have one. If you can get your hands on the scs bench I highly recommend getting one to go with your ft2
@@MattTolbers Hi Matt, thanks for the reply. If my understanding is correct you are basically saying that that piece came with the bench and not with the FT2 itself? My other question is regarding the engagement and disengagement of the smith bar: I find it hard to do , is facing the machine or away from the machine supposed to be the right way? Sometimes both sides don’t engage or disengage simultaneously as if one side is stuck. Any tips or advice? Thanks
Yes if you buy the bench you’ll get the piece you are looking for. It doesn’t matter which side you are on to disengage the smith bar, you just turn your wrist the other way to do it. If your having problems doing it something must be a little off. Did you have a professional install it or did you do it yourself? It may be something like one weight stack cable is loser then the other and needs to be adjusted
@@albees1984 You could lean over the smith bar and attempt, but I wouldn't recommend it. I just buy something like this amzn.to/3sy04tg or if you have a power rack get a dip attachment.
That’s if you don’t have the inspire fitness ft2 with the cable to connect for weight. You can just use weight plates instead of connecting it to the cables.
I notice you have it set up in the garage, is your garage floor in a slope? My FT2 seems to make a noise that didn't use to make when it was on a flat surface. It seems that the rod that holds/aligns the weights rubs against the resting weight plates when going down.
Mine is at a slight slope, but doesn’t effect anything. There is a way to adjust that rod a bit If I remember right. Hope you can get it fixed or find a solution.
I was in a decision between this and the force usa monster g6. I went with the g6 for the fact that it also has a half rack and a similar footprint. I personally played around with the ft2 and I think it's a bit higher quality than the g6. I sold my ironmaster 2000 and hoist v6 functional trainer to get the g6
Nice man, I looked into the g6 also but the Inspire FT2 with the weight stacks being built into the smith bar and not having to change all the weight plates was big for me. You're able to put the ft2 right in the corner of the wall because you don't have any bar sticking out that you need to rack weight plates on and also love how it attaches to the bench for leg work. The G6 is very nice option though, especially if you need to lift more then the max of 460lbs that's on the FT2 smith bar. I already had a power rack and can't squat or bench more then 460lbs anyways so I'm good lol.
@@MattTolbers that's very true the ft2 you don't have the smith machine pegs sticking out. I still wanted the option of benching barbells so the g6 fit best for me. So that bit of sacrificing a bit of room worth it for my situation. I wanted the ft2 for a couple years now. It was almost a last minute decision to decide on the G6 opposed to the ft2. Either one are great decisions.
does it come with all the hooks and leg raises or you have to buy those seperate? is the machine worth the buy? how much did it cost? can it be used in living room or bedroom or it takes too much space?
That's way to many questions to answer, you can find all the info on inspire website. It comes with many attachments and can fit in most rooms depending on the height of your ceiling. Defiantly worth buying if you want the best all around home gym machine.
Can I use the f2 as a lat pull down machine and will it replace a lat pull down machine or not really?? Is it tall enough to get full extension when doing lat pull downs just like in a pulldown machine? I just bought an X-3 short foldable rack, the titan lat pull down machine with 300lbs weigjt stack which will never use that much weight. The lat pull down its on backorder so I can still cancel it. I been doing research on functional trainners cause iam gonna buy one. But if the f2 can be use as lat pull down then I will buy that:)
Question: Is the system set at 2:1 ratio making each weight stack 75lbs. in stead of the full 150lbs. per weight stack? But when you use the weight multiplier like Inspire shows will that give the user 1:1 ratio lifting the full 300lbs. ? I’m curious if buying the additional weight upgrade is necessary ? I read a comment recently that someone bought the weight stack upgrade and it messed up the length of the cables on both sides of the machine leaving an extra 6-8 inches of slack which was way to much slack in the cables.
The extra weight plates plus the 5lb add on is 215lbs each stack. It would be cut in half but you can connect both stack at the middle bottom for double the weight or top middle. Also the extra weight stacks don’t add any slack at all over not having them. When you don’t have the extra weight stacks is just gives you a metal spacer in the place of the weight stack so nothing changes. When using the smith bar you can do the 1:1 ratio and get full weight of each stack plus the bar
@@MattTolbers Thanks for answering my question. Does your machine have the extra weight plates ? Can you recommend any reputable online sellers of the FT2 ?
Now I feel stupid I bet 16 plates at 10lbs each plus the 5lbs add on DUH. Please disregard my stupidity while I wait patiently for my FT2 to be delivered. ;-)
Have you had to lubricate yours yet? If so what have used? I’ve got an older one, and one of my pulleys seems like it’s starting to stick? Thanks for all he info man.
Great vid! Do you find when doing leg curls, when you squeeze at the top, it’s like there’s no tension? It doesn’t feel like you have to work at the top, as though the weight just stops or something.
Mine still has tension at the top. I have a feeling your cable goes straight from the pulley on the leg attachment to the hook. Make sure after the cable goes through the pulley it then goes infront of the ankle pads then hooks up. Hopefully that makes sense
I finally got one! When I tried to do squats using the weight stacks, it feels like the weight is catching and not as smooth as the other pulleys. Any suggestions on how to fix that?
@@MattTolbers I did both but the folks never came out so I put it together on my own. Sometimes the cable for the weight stacks seems lose and when I try to squat it seems to take more effort to lift it. So I'll get in the squat position, start to stand and it pauses once all that cable it taut, and I have to put more effort to continue the move. I tried adjusting the cables so that it's right but it still does it.
Yeah sounds like one or both of the cables are lose. Try tightening it in the back where the cable ends and bolts into the base. Also you can tighten it at the big pulley on top of the weight plates.
What’s up bro. When using the smith bar would you say it feels similar to using an actual smith machine, or more like a a weight stack machine? If that makes sense lol
It's very smooth, especially at lighter weights similar to regular smith machine. Once you start to get really heavy like over 300lbs it feel a little more like a weight stack smith machine. Honestly that's something a little hard for me to judge, but that's what I'd say. It works very well and doesn't feel cheap
Basically whatever weight is selected on the weight stacks it’s actually only half that weight because of the pulley system. With the smith bar your able to make it 1:1 ratio though so whatever weight you select will be that much weight
Hey Matt- some people have reviewed that the squats are unusual because of the negative starting point. Is that true? Also, clearly the machine has a lot of positives? Any negatives? Areas that could be improved? Thx in advance.
Hey Shalin, squats work great but you have to options on how to do it. Either on the first rep you have to lower the spotter arms to the desired height and then twist your wrist to disengage from them and then continue your reps, and on the last rep either go down to the safety spotter arms and step out or go down and twist your wrist to engage with it and bring it back to the top. Other option is set your squat bar with the spotter arms at the lowest you want to go down and then get underneath it and push up, do your squat rep and then step out from a bent position after your last rep again. Sorry if that sounds confusing, I should make a video demonstrating these things. Basically it's not as big of a pain as it's sounds, but if you're trying to do super heavy when you're pushing yourself for only a couple reps it's not ideal for that situation. For medium weight higher reps it works great. If they could incorporate some type of J cup you could move separate from Adjustable pulley/safety spotter arms that would let you start and stop at whatever height you wanted while leaving the Adjustable pulley/spotter arm where you wanted it, that would be awesome. Hope that makes sense and helps.
Sorry..hit enter key prematurely..the carabiner and cable seem to bang around into the bench frame and making quite a bit of banging noise. Thanks-Gayle
If it's doing that, it means there is not enough tention on the cables. Move your bench out a bit once cables are connected to increase the tension on the cables and see if that makes a difference.
If it still makes noise, hook it up the second way I mentioned which is without the extra cords. Without the extra cords there should be anything that can bang.
Thanks for the great video. A couple of questions. How much was it? Would you buy it again? What accessories would you recommend? What do you like most about it? And..what do you like least about it? Thanks again...stay safe
Matt...very informative vids...great work... quick question...I believe you and I are close in size and strength...with that...do you think the upgrade in the weights were necessary? I have the FT2 on order...but wondering now if I need to upgrade...thanks...let know what you think.
Thanks bro, yeah I definitely would buy the extra weight plates if you can. Pretty easy to add later though if you want to use it for awhile and see if you’ll need them. You can attach the two low middle pulleys or top two together to double the weight for most exercises so it’s not a must. Just nice to have for only a few hundred more.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I really appreciate it man. I just ordered the FT2 from Precor but I have no idea how long I will be waiting for it.😅. Do you know of any good workout programs or apps for someone just getting started with this machine (and pretty new to lifting all together)?
I wonder how the Inspire Fitness FT2 compares to the ForceUSA G6. Both are similar in price and both seem to be equal in functionality, except the G6 has a plate loaded Smith machine bar and the thing can also double as a power rack. Heh ... actually I guess not exactly equal in functionality, then.
The ForceUSA G6 is very nice, but I still think the FT2 is better for most people. The FT2 takes up less space and can be placed right in the corner of a room since there is no bar that sticks out the side that needs to be loaded and have space on side and behind to load it. The Smith bar on the ft2 is attached to weight plates and goes up to 460lbs with the extra weight plates and the 1:1 option it has. So unless you need more the 460lb often it will be alot quicker to change weight by just switching a pin compared to removing and adding weight plates. Also the ft2 has cables that attach to the leg attachment on the bench and you're able to do extensions and curls quickly and smoothly while just using a pin to change weight. The FT2 has two cables at the top in the middle right next to each other that can be attached together and double the weight of pulldowns or any other workout you need to pull down compared to only half that weight on the G6. The FT2 also has two pulleys right in the middle at the bottom which can be attached together for seated rows or any low pulley workout which would be double the weight the G6 can do. Those are just a few of the big things that stand out. The G6 power rack part is nice though forsure, just depends how much weight you need to lift and if that overrides the benefits I mentioned on the FT2.
I have the 50lb add on plates for each stacks plus the 5lb adder plates, so each stack is 215lb max. 215 on this machine feels heavier then most pull down machines I've done in gyms. Usually at the gym I can max out the machines pretty easy. If your super strong either do more reps or pull a pin out a bit and slap a plate on it for more weight. I've done that when doing some heavy ab work
@@MattTolbers does the weight multiplier only work for the Smith bar or each of the 6 pulleys? Their website says: " Weight Multiplier Doubles weight for heavy lifters, while using the smith bar" TIA
Awesome I just ordered one. Sucks that they’re out of stock on the bench though. Can you send a link for the mats that you’re using under the machine? Thanks !
Nice man, you’re going to love it! Here link to the mats I got www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/4-ft-x-6-ft-x-3-4-in-thick-rubber-stall-mat?cm_vc=-10005
Hey Matt love the content , I was just wondering what’s the maximum weight you’d be able to pull on a single pulley for example for a tricep pulldown as I know the pulley system works 1:2. Would it only be half the stack so around 40lbs?
Well I have the extra weight stacks, which go up to 210, so half that would be 105 I guess which feels like a lot of weight. But at the top middle there are 2 pulleys next to each other that you could connect together and make its twice as much if you need to. So basically there’s no way your maxing out the machine for tricep pulldown unless you’re hulk
On a side note, you can double the weight of the stacks when using the smith bar, so that's great for bench presses / deadlifts /squats/barbell rows... On each of the height adjustable carriages on the sides, there's a chrome bar with a space at the top to attach the linkage from the pulley. When you do that, you double the weight because you're attaching two cables to the smith bar via the carriages on each side.
Hi,I am thinking of buying the Ft2,could you tell me if you assemble the machine yourself and if you did it if it seemed difficult for you to set up a single person. Thank you.
Yes I did it myself. It comes in tons of little boxes that are all labeled by step and has good instructions. It does take a good amount of hours to put together, just work on it a few hours each day after work and you’ll get it done
I set mine up myself - I had a pickup truck at the time. I believe the entire package (not including the bench) was around 600lbs. They wanted $500 to deliver and install it, so I had a friend help, and we did it over two days.
@@MattTolbers 450lbs on smith( 210 + 210 + 20 + 5 + 5) if you have 10 lbs more , I will be happy to know where it came from. Also, you can use the smith bar for doing leg press by puting both tower at number 7 then you lay on your back with both feet put under the bar and you push up with your leg. Still safe because if your foot slip, the bar should stop on the stopper at 7 position.
It says 460lbs on inspire website. And yes you can do leg press with it, only done it once though. Going to by a real leg press though when they come back in stock
Thank you for the excellent review! I’ve been eyeing this machine for my new home gym, and feel it’s the most versatile on the market to fulfill all my weight training needs. I really wanted a machine where I could do seated rows. Now I know how to pull this off. I think I’m going to move forward with the purchase.
Did you do the install yourself? If so, was it hard to do. I just ordered mine today and no one is offering in home install because of the virus. But I can’t wait to get mine!!!
Yeah I did it myself. It’s not hard to do, it’s just time consuming and not something I would try to rush through. It is all packaged super well and really good step by step instructions. I just spend a few hours each night after work for a few days and got it done. You could do it in one day if you want. I also recommend the extra weight stacks.
Lol. I ordered one about 3 months ago and I finally received my tracking number. It’s due to hit my home gym this Thursday, just n time to as I’ve lost about every once of muscle. Great video
Bro you gotta be pumped! I’ve also taken the last 2 months off from lifting because driving for UPS is crazy this time of year. Now that Christmas is over and I have vacation time I’m getting back on it!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. I have a question: How was the machine shipped as far as packaged ? Was it in a crate and was the machine broken down into manageable parts to carry ? Thanks
It was all shipped on a pallet and has a special delivery date. It’s all broken down in manageable parts to carry, and I recommend spreading out all the parts before install because they are all labeled for steps. Really good instructions to follow and put together yourself, just takes some hours to do.
@@MattTolbers Can you share with me a reputable company to buy this machine from ? I’ve found a couple places online that use several different names for that one specific company and than I read the reviews on social media and I am finding out that most of the companies are SCAMS. So now I need a trusting and reputable company to buy this online ! Any suggestions?
You are using the wrong pulleys. The ones you are using here are for the leg attachment. The ones meant for rows are the top ones and what you can do is use a carabiner or one of the other hooks
Hey appreciate your feedback but the way I showed has works great. My issue with trying to use the upper ones like your said with the regular Seated row bar is the feet get in the way. You can make it work though. Thanks for watching
@@MattTolbers That's good to hear. A double cable stack is so versatile... You could almost skip the power rack if you had to choose one or the other. I'm more into the powerlifting side so I grabbed a rack (cheaper), but if I have the space and the gold pieces in the future, I would definitely consider adding this unit. Thanks for the review.
Very nice setup man! I'm hoping to add something like this to my garage gym at some point in the near future! I love that it doesnt take up too much space! Check out my garage gym and lmk what u think!
Looks awesome! I actually watched your powerblock video the other day lol. One thing I would recommend you get for your gym is a barbell rack or "gun rack" for your bars. Very cheap and will get them off the ground.
Not sure what exactly you’re are referring to, but there’s nothing that takes me more then a few seconds to do in real time. It may have seemed long because I’m breaking it down slowly for you to see lol
Well at my house... where I have one of these.... I don't have any retarded rules like... wipe down everything you touch, or, wear masks when you walk in, or, check in on arrival, or wait for losers to get off machines, or no grunting, or sorry we are closed because the government says Covid is a thing and gyms have to close, or, the gym is open BUT you have to get an experimental injection of unknown ingredients and undocumented and now proven to be hidden side affects, or, the gym is open and now you don't need to get an experimental injection but only as long as the government allows gyms to be open to people who have common sense etc etc etc ... plus fight for parking, etc etc... Nah. I'm not a loser... so I just get what I want... and I don't bother with other peoples stupid rules or insane world views in my house. $5K is nothing to me compared to putting up with beta personalities that have wet noodles between their ears and soggy bread for balls and their stupid rules and like I said insane world views that seem to lead to limiting free movement.

Great video. Couldn’t figure out the leg extension and cable hookups. I just had knee surgery and didn’t want the cable to come lose. A better design would be a closed connection without having to go around the tube before connecting
Is there a leg press attachment that might go on the bar? Similar to the quick release leg attachment for Mr. Monster and Mr. Mighty?

Matt Tolbers I’m loving the machine Matt. I do have one question. Did you have any trouble putting the pins in the weight stacks? One is perfect. I have to apply pressure from the top of the other for the pin to go in. Thanks.
Only time is if I have a heavy attachment hanging from the cable it slightly lifts up the plates so gotta push it down a bit to put pin in. Sounds like you need to adjust the pulley that is directly above the weight stack
These are helpful details. Some i have not seen in any other reviews. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped you bro!
That's a bad a** set-up Matt! Super clean!
Thanks my brother!
Yeah I did it that way for awhile, I’ve just found the way I demonstrated it to be more comfortable for me. Either way works, thanks for your insight
@@MattTolbers Understood - I couldn't tell if you knew that, based on how you described your method - all good though, keep up the good work! I love my FT2!
Thanks Antonio! I believe it’s the best home gym machine you can get
@@MattTolbers Did those D-handles come with yours?
Thanks
Besides bench and squat, are there a way to make the weights heavier on the cables? Four legs and lap pull downs and rowing
Mat can you make a video showing you doing that for both the squat and bench press ?
Thank you for explaining the versatility of the gym, you can show me the links where you bought the other accessories please.
Here are the extra accesories I ordered. Hope this helps

Great Vid, how high is the smith bar when not used. I’m 6’5 and worried about hitting my head on it. Thanks!
@@MattTolbers Thanks Matt! Will do, Ron
you can raise the seat up in order to leavel with cushion roller. you will find comfort.
Yeah that’s one way, I just found it more comfortable doing it the way I showed in video.
Hi Matt. Are you able to add a 45lb plate or other to the leg attachment? The attachment seems too low on mine or that the plate would hit the bottom angled grab bar. Thanks in advance.
Yes here’s a video where I demonstrate it. ua-cam.com/video/3TYXrNSyWds/v-deo.html
I'm pondering whether to get ft2 or the al-m810 or al-3058
Unless your lifting over 500lbs with multiple lifts I’d go FT2 for convenience and space saving alone.

I hate doing regular squats on it.
where did u get that extra cable pulley attachment that you used to attach from functional trainer to the bench?
It comes with the FT2
Matt..when you're doing a leg curl do you notice the cables banging around a lot near the low rollers? Thanks Gayle
Hey Gayle, send us an email if you are experiencing some trouble. service@Inspirefitness.net
Also how do u hold down when doing lat pull downs and what's the max teue weight when using both stacks to do lat pull downs and is it enough?
How smooth is the cable with the smith machine bar? Is it as smooth as the ones in the commercial gyms?
It’s as smooth as cable smith machines, but not quiet as smooth as smith machines that just use weight plates.
Thanks for the information. Can you measure the length of the feet only. I know the dimensions are online, but that is overall size. I'm trying to get the length of the feet only so I can design how much mat I want to fit in my space.
Sorry for late response, the feet are 4ft
Really considering getting one of these. Do you have any pics of the excersice chart that comes with it? Wondering how detailed it is and how many different excersices it Contains?
Hey Jonathon, it actually comes with a very nice booklet with quiet a few workouts for each muscle group. I know Inspire Fitness has a nice app they should have even more workouts demonstrated
Can you show how to do the lie down leg curls video ? Still can’t work it right
Awesome video Matt.
Legend mate, thanks for those little tips.
No problem bro!
Yeah full range of motion for sure. I'm 6'1
@@MattTolbers Hi Matt. Thank you for your reply. Do you know if you can do dips on this machine? If so how. Thanks for your time.
@@albees1984 You could lean over the smith bar and attempt, but I wouldn't recommend it. I just buy something like this amzn.to/3sy04tg or if you have a power rack get a dip attachment.
Hey. Nice video. I see on the leg accessory there is an extra vertical pole/bar. Is that to add extra weight/plates?
That’s if you don’t have the inspire fitness ft2 with the cable to connect for weight. You can just use weight plates instead of connecting it to the cables.
I notice you have it set up in the garage, is your garage floor in a slope? My FT2 seems to make a noise that didn't use to make when it was on a flat surface. It seems that the rod that holds/aligns the weights rubs against the resting weight plates when going down.
Mine is at a slight slope, but doesn’t effect anything. There is a way to adjust that rod a bit If I remember right. Hope you can get it fixed or find a solution.
Check plumb of the guide rods. If it’s not then shim the machine.
@@DoritosResidue You got a great setup, enjoy that bad boy!
does it come with all the hooks and leg raises or you have to buy those seperate? is the machine worth the buy? how much did it cost? can it be used in living room or bedroom or it takes too much space?
That's way to many questions to answer, you can find all the info on inspire website. It comes with many attachments and can fit in most rooms depending on the height of your ceiling. Defiantly worth buying if you want the best all around home gym machine.
Hi, Matt I been using this since the start of Covid. But I don’t know what I’m truly lifting. How will I calculate the weight?
Are the weels where you put the cable around from some kind of steel or plastic?
The pullleys are made of plastic, but protected by metal.

Awesome video! Any other tips you can think of, please post!
Thanks bro, I’ll probably make another video soon with more info about it
Can I use the f2 as a lat pull down machine and will it replace a lat pull down machine or not really??
This was really helpful. Thank you!
I have another question about the weight stacks. I know they are 165lbs each so how many plates and each plate is XXXLBS?
Now I feel stupid I bet 16 plates at 10lbs each plus the 5lbs add on DUH. Please disregard my stupidity while I wait patiently for my FT2 to be delivered. ;-)
You got it correct, each is 10lbs. You can get the 50lb extra weight stacks to get it to 210 plus 5lb adder each side.
Hi, can you tell me if this is worth the money and if there is a cheaper bench that is compatible with the leg extensions
Definitely worth the money and no there’s not another bench that is compatible with the cable system that I know of.
Hi, great video. Can you tel the hight of the machine (the pull up bar) plz?
It’s 83” to 88” depending how high you set the pull up bar
Have you had to lubricate yours yet? If so what have used? I’ve got an older one, and one of my pulleys seems like it’s starting to stick? Thanks for all he info man.
Hey bro, yeah you definitely need to keep it lubricated. This is what I use and highly recommend amzn.to/3vbftkB
I'm not sure what you mean by catching, what's catching? Did you put it together or pay a professional to do it?
@@MattTolbers I did both but the folks never came out so I put it together on my own. Sometimes the cable for the weight stacks seems lose and when I try to squat it seems to take more effort to lift it. So I'll get in the squat position, start to stand and it pauses once all that cable it taut, and I have to put more effort to continue the move. I tried adjusting the cables so that it's right but it still does it.
Yeah sounds like one or both of the cables are lose. Try tightening it in the back where the cable ends and bolts into the base. Also you can tighten it at the big pulley on top of the weight plates.
@@MattTolbers I'll try and keep you updated! I appreciate the help!
I figured it out. The upper rear pulleys weren't fully pulled so it created some looseness. I appreciate the help!
Hi, can u tell me how much flooring mats in ft do I need for the machine and bench
two 4x6ft stall mats should be plenty
This is an excellent video! Thanks
Matt Tolbers thanks man
Does this machine come with the bench?
What’s the height of the machine in inches from the peak height (assuming this would be the top of the pull-up bar), to the floor?
Depending on how high you set the pull up bar, it ranges from 83” to 88”
Matt Tolbers thank you for the feedback!
@@MattTolbers I am thinking about purchasing the FT2. My ceiling is 85/86 inches high. Is that enough space for assembly??
I will making the ft2 purchase how hard to put together?
Hi Matt where did you get your lat pull down bar from? What brand is it and how did you attach it?
Here's the one I got. It's currently unavailable but maybe try inspire website amzn.to/2RXa11X
Matt Tolbers thank you so much!
Also, can you explain what the 1:2 ratio means for the weight stacks?
Basically whatever weight is selected on the weight stacks it’s actually only half that weight because of the pulley system. With the smith bar your able to make it 1:1 ratio though so whatever weight you select will be that much weight
Matt Tolbers thanks!
OK thanks Matt..will do!
If it still makes noise, hook it up the second way I mentioned which is without the extra cords. Without the extra cords there should be anything that can bang.
OK thanks..great idea.
@@MattTolbers Good info brudah, thanks...stay safe and healthy!!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I really appreciate it man. I just ordered the FT2 from Precor but I have no idea how long I will be waiting for it.😅. Do you know of any good workout programs or apps for someone just getting started with this machine (and pretty new to lifting all together)?
Hey no problem! I highly recommend the bodyfit program! bbcom.me/3l0Sx1q
@@MattTolbers excellent comparison write up! that was very informative.
Do you find that you're maxing out on lat pulldowns? Since it's a 2:1 ratio that means that both stacks are only 160 pounds.
Their website says: " Weight Multiplier Doubles weight for heavy lifters, while using the smith bar"

Matt Tolbers awesome! But does that mean the maximum you can do for chest press or cable flys using the wide pulleys is 105lbs?
It would be that per arm so double total. It also come with 2 5lb plates you can put on top of Weight stack so that would be 110 per arm
Well done!
Hi,I am thinking of buying the Ft2,could you tell me if you assemble the machine yourself and if you did it if it seemed difficult for you to set up a single person.

Hey man, great review! What is the most weight you can get from using both weight stacks doing pulldowns or seated rows?
Hey bro, with the add on weights it's 215lbs of true weight for pulldowns and seated rows. The smith bar goes up to 460lbs

How much did shipping cost?
Free shipping :)
Thanks for watching
still debating if i should drop 5k on this.. damm. Also does it have a pull up bar
Not going to tell you what to do with your money, but for me it was 5K well spent 😁 and yes it has and adjustable height pull up bar
@@MattTolbers Thank you very much brother for the reply! I've been eyeing this and or the FTX from costco haha we'll see
Perfect reviews
Thanks man, I try to explain the key things I feel people should know
Nice piece... use it every week?
All the time
@@MattTolbers That's good to hear. A double cable stack is so versatile... You could almost skip the power rack if you had to choose one or the other. I'm more into the powerlifting side so I grabbed a rack (cheaper), but if I have the space and the gold pieces in the future, I would definitely consider adding this unit. Thanks for the review.
You didn’t show how the red bar works :/
After 11 months of this video do you still find this functional trainor worth the money?
Definitely still worth it!
$5000 machine. Wow!!
I know it’s expensive, but totally worth the price for what you get!
Matt Tolbers agreed, I do need to organize that corner with the barbells 😆
I’ve seen several of ur vids, ur garage gym is awesome 👊 stay safe man👍
Wow, looks like too much ! by the time you do all that, you're wore out before you begin the actual work out.
Not sure what exactly you’re are referring to, but there’s nothing that takes me more then a few seconds to do in real time. It may have seemed long because I’m breaking it down slowly for you to see lol
Fair enough Matt, thank you.
5k for a shit machine. Nah.
Nah.
I'll just get jacked and ignore all the normies.
My name is Rick Dangerous... and when others say jump I say kiss my ass make me or do somethin about it.
