@@phillipstroll7385 Hi Phillip. So sorry to hear you have been bed ridden for so long, but so glad to hear that a video like this can help bring you joy and bring back such good memories. Thank you for sharing! T
Thanks so much Tom for taking us along on this journey with you. 👍🏼👍🏼 I really enjoyed the whole video. Fun and informative. First- bare feet. 🙂 I loved seeing you walking in your bare feet. I use to do it all the time. Did you drive in bare feet too? Second-the realness of your video, like friends on a day out. Grand! Third-The scenery was splendid and your relaxed teaching draws me in. Thanks soooo much. I hope to travel to that part of the world one day. Beautiful and part of my lineage. Cheers! 😃
Ahh, thans so much Sue...so pleased you enjoyed coming along for the journey! Plenty more to come:)...haha, yes as soon as the ice stops the footwear come off and that's it 'til it starts again, very rarely any footwear at all, for anything but eating out and formal occasions ;) Good for your soles and the soul!!;)....so glad that is how the video came across!! ...thank you so much for such a lovely supportive comment. T
I just love watching the apparent ease with which you lay down your beautiful coloured washes. Great to hear your informative commentary too (missing the podcasts). Just so inspiring. Thank you!
What a fun and fantastic video Tom! So enjoyed the beautiful scenery and hearing about your approach to plein air painting -simplify, and enjoy the experience. Thank you!
Thanks so muhc. Oh great...it is an amazing part of the world. Ideally there's some sun..but the coastal path is spectacular whatever the weather really! Lots of potential boat trips to off shore islands too. T
Really enjoyed this! So true that one is always waiting for the perfect moment. It amazes me that artists on forums are so prolific. BTW, love the UK and Welsh programming. "Hinterland" was one of our faves. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent.
Loved this Tom! So true about editing your subject. Before I begin I give myself permission to just enjoy the process and be inventive then the tension leaves me and before I know it I’m lost in the experience. I’ve always got so much out of your incredible teaching and passion for watercolour. Thank you
Beautiful video Tom-thank you. Such lovely coastline. There’s something magical about sitting by the sea sketching and painting. Its definitely on my list for this coming summer in Oz. (Any weather really).
Thank you...so pleased you enjoyed it! There really is hey!? It's a great way to experience an area, new or familiar. And in this day and age taking some extended time to juts it, look and soak it in feels really important :) T
Thanks for an inspiring video Tom. I envy your ability to crouch and paint (more difficult for those of us of advanced years) as well as your ability to paint and to teach. We have just returned from a holiday in Pembrokeshire. It is indeed a stunning area to live in. Everywhere you look is a gem or two. I can recommend Picton Point for water, boats, birds and peace!
Haha, it's actually taken a couple of years to be able to crouch for long periods!! No joke....oh wonderful! It really is. I do not know Picton point. I shall look it up and head out there!! Thank you. T
Looking forward to more Plein air Tom. Your paintings really sing with colour and light, something I’m not achieving so easily. Lovely area, we visited back in May this year.
Thank you so much! Plenty more to come, so hopefully that will give you more insight into capturing both those things. Oh lovely...whereabouts? Wonderful part fo the world. T
Lovely video! I keep meaning to try to get out into the plein air to practice drawing. We loved exploring the Stackpole area and walking large chunks of the Pembrokeshire coastal path and making use of the bus service to get back to the car.
Thanks so much, Lorna!! I’ve meant to do this for so long, so I know how hard it can be to “fit it in”....oh that’s fantastic. It truly is a wonderful part of the world! T
I always love your videos and loads of information you provide, but I really enjoyed you showing your part of the world. It is so beautiful there. I would be ready to get citizenship if I could get my family to go with me. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
How lovely Tom. It's so amazing to view beautiful scenes on the opposite side of the world! (I am in South Africa) Thanks for the reminder to "simplify" when we render subjects like this. 😀
Ahh I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and I know what you mean. Always fascinating glimpsing different lands...haha oh yes, simplicity! That elusive beast ☺️
Great to see your sketches and how you approach them. I've just started to try plein air sketching and need to take note of what you said by just looking at the shapes, thanks Tom. It was good to meet and chat with you at the Patching's Farm Art Show and see your fantastic work.
Thanks so much Alison!!:) yes it was....I’d forgotten how tricky it can be ...but also how exciting and fun! Not taking it too seriously certainly helped me this day!!:) T
Tom! Tom -- that was wonderful! What an amazing coastal scene! Really enjoyed seeing you out in plen aire. I try it every now and again -- it IS hard for me 🙂 I'll keep trying 🖌️
Just discovered your awesome channel! Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery and your sketches. May I ask which watercolor box you are using? I have never seen anything like it.
Hi ya Kim...thanks so much for the kind words!!:) it is a called the clover leaf box, I can’t remember who by, but you’ll find. I stumbled across one recently and it’s an instant favourite!!!:)
Hope you enjoy this guys!:)
