Dragon's Dogma 2 just got some bad news for framerate on consoles, limited vocations, and clothing options for your characters. When I cover Dragon's Dogma 2, I always aim to be as accurate as I can with the information I am able to obtain. Naturally, sometimes predictions are right, sometimes they're wrong. I cover both instances. In the grand scheme of things, nothing I mentioned here is really a deal breaker for me, but I still think it's worth sharing because people play different games for different reasons. Here is some news that people are upset with on the internet, can't say I disagree.
This video is not intended to be doomposting, I just want to make sure I provide both good and bad news when they arise. I'm also not above admitting when I'm wrong with parts of the 30fps rumor, I did my best with the info I had at the time. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong, I was wrong with this one at least to some extent. I've posted my written sources in the description. Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy the video!

The 10 vocation thing makes no sense because of trickster, literally nonsensical lmao.
Look how good Mystic spearhand is as an adapted Spirit Lancer from DDO, if they just did that with high sceptre and Alchemist that would've been better than trickster imo.
It’s a bit disappointed we only have 10. And the warfer was a big bait for more vocations.

Canceled my pre-order. Might try it on a deep sale and hopefully there will be a 60fps performance mode or at least stable 30 by then.
Remember that this frame rate was rendered at 4K is there anyway we can play at 1080p and get over 60? Because I would much rather have a lower resolution than a lower frame rate personally

The game is more then likely running at these framerates because is CPU heavy, meaning they could drop resolution to 240P and a 60 fps mode would be impossible. That tends to usually be the case with all games that are locked at 30 or have no performance modes.
You can see this in their PC requirements page where the CPU's they list are the console equivalent ones and they target 30 fps too.
Previewers failing and Journalists are failing us
30fps in 2024 is a hard fail no matter how good the game is if it’s really gonna run around 30 it’s a failure in gameplay terms and a hard pass on Console.
Allegedly some gamers who played said it ran mostly 60 with some dips while others who played are saying it was around 30 with dips so what I’m saying is that if it’s not running between 48 to 60 on PS5 then it’s a hard fail because that’s the Vrr window, and in 2024 playing games at 30fps is a massive letdown which is why I refuse to play any game that’s 30

That’s wild. I have an rtx 3080 and play most games in 4K obviously not every thing set to ultra but usually I can get away with high with somethings set to ultra also I use dlss when available. Most games I play I get 60 or above but some games that have come out last year and this year gets some dips depending on how demanding the game is.

It literally drops to 24 fps during fights and is constantly fluctuating if it was just 30fps okay that’s fine but dropping into the low 20s every time an enemy comes on the screen is ridiculous
Whats crazy, is that ps5 trailer footage is not 30fps. I can tell the difference immediately when you put it on screen after the other. It looks closer to 45-50fps. So, apparently theres a build somewhere that runs pretty good.

That’s normal at 4k resolution but you can change resolution hopefully looking back at the dmc games. so you may have 1080p and 60+ frames in performance mode

im gonna be honest with you brother, if you think about it logically, this is going to happen, it is not if, not everyone owns a 4k monitor, not everyone even owns a 2k monitor, how stupid would it be to have a game ONLY in 4k. I have a 4080 & big cpu which might double the ps5 power so it doesn't even apply to me, I'm telling you right now that wouldn't make any sense, there HAS TO BE a setting for lower resolution higher fps, for you guys.

I don't believe there are only 10 vocations. There has to be a caveat or something to that because why would you label them Starter, Advanced, Hybrid? It feels unfinished.
i get what your saying. why does fighter and mage get advanced, not "thief" , or archer? they should have just stuck with strider using daggers and shortbow, dagger core skills, and made ranger advanced long bow daggers , with long bow core. would have made a million times more sense and less disapointing seeing the color schemes.

There's 10. They developers even stated it _again_ today, only 10, and no plans to go past that. The first game had nine at release, and none were added after launch.

@@TheRealF.ckingJesusI hope you're right, or that they at least add new vocations as DLC. It REALLY does feel unfinished that there's just no advanced or hybrid vocation associated with Thief. Or a Fighter/Archer hybrid vocation.
I'd rather have a complete set of Starter, Advanced, and Hybrid classes instead of unique vocations like Trickster and Warfarer that aren't connected to anything...
Wasn't holding out too much for the vocations. With so little info for awhile about it, it seamed pretty set in stone what they were gonna be. But I guess my only disapointment with that is the magic archer missing their daggers, but that's easliy forgivable. Plenty of other vocations to work with, and really looking forward to trying the mystic spearhand.

Imma be honest Only 9 vocation ( wayfarer doesn’t really count ) is a massive let down. like why even tease us with the colour scheme if in the end it didn’t mean nothing. I know I’m gonna compare apple to orange but monster hunter had 14 different weapon/playstyle to chose from at launch, it wasn’t really hard to imagine dragon dogma to have the same amount of class or more

Monster Hunter has 20 years worth of iteration behind those 14 weapons, though, and they haven't added a new weapon since MH4U - 10 YEARS ago. I'm disappointed too, but this is a silly comparison.

@@daizbid they still had to remade and rework the weapon for a new engine for world and rise they didn’t just copy paste it from MH generation. Also the combat in MH is way more in depth compared to a fun hack and slash like DD his.
Also why reintroduced the colour system if it didn’t meant jack…it just misleading for the old fan. Why market warrior and sorcerer as advance class for fighters and mage when you’re not even gonna make advance class for thief and archer. It just doesn’t make sense. God my ocd is killing me right now

Crazy how the first dragons dogma released 12 years ago was played at 24-30fps. And now 12 years later in 2024, on the PS5, we get another 30fps dragons dogma.

Having too high expectations usually results in disappointment from day 1 I never believed they would include any vocations not mentioned before and therefore I'm not sad about it now,furthermore I remember enjoying my games on ps4 so much and most of them were 30 fps I don't get why people are obsessed this much...people got burnt I guess I will never forget my first skyrim experience on ps3 and the frame rate was terrible...what I'm trying to say is its not a disappointment but understandable,what matters in the end is whether or not the gameplay is fun.
Also, I am concerned regarding the amount of Vocations that may be in the game. I will still buy it but I hope we have more Vocations.
Dragons Dogma 1 Vocations felt more dynamic because a player could play with two weapons and unlock advanced versions of their base Vocation.
Basically, Dragons Dogma 2 just simplified advanced classes from Dragons Dogma 1 without adding anything else..I hope my observation is wrong.

I would have to believe they will have it NEVER drop below 30 fps in the final release. That would be pathetic, id rather have lower resolution, graphics, draw distance whatever they need to do and have the game run smooth. It's an action game, if it drops into the 20s in combat in should be flamed like every other developer would be. I love dragons dogma, was just expecting smoother combat in the sequel.

Gameplay is always king, unless we're in full-on stuttering at all times, most games can be played, but we have to wait and see.

Game play still looks fine to me on PS5. I have played many games with 30fps over the years and some of my favourite games of all time (The Witcher 3 and Red dead redemption 2) were played with that frame rate. Game play looks smooth on all videos so far.
dragons dogma was the first game I ever played when I got a ps3 for Christmas I am actually despite all these negatives just happy the game is getting a sequel

Capcom use denuvo so you shouldn't expect stable performance. In beginning days re village had some issues although stable considering denuvo behind, same thing with re4, but dd is open world and "next gen", i expected that the recommended specs probably won't be enough, i just bought because my rig (my alternative rig in fact) can handle, otherwise i would wait for patches or for standby denuvo, a lot of wait perhaps, but who's knows.
Welp! Glad I didn’t preorder. Will watch some gameplay on release but 30fps & only 10 vocations is pretty disappointing. Hopefully, the actual content & gameplay are worth it.
Only 10 vocations and PC performance being CPU focused instead of utilizing GPUs are both real kicks in the pants. I hope the game is still good, but jeez. Thief also seems to get really shafted with no advanced form and no hybrid either one.
That’s actually good news for me since I have a Ryzen 5 5600X and an RX 6600 so my cpu is quite a bit better in comparison lol

This might be me coping, but unless I've misunderstood, they were running the game at 4K on a PS5, which has a graphics card equivalent to a 2080.
I have a 3070 in my PC and I do not get 60fps at 4K. There arent really any games that are going to run a stable 60fps at 4K.
I personally play at 2560x1440, and im sure ill get a stable 60 at high settings.
I do feel bad for console players, but i also think Capcom will likely improve the framerate considering how big of a market console players make up.

As a pc player the framerate thing doesnt affect me but I sympathize because I struggle to play games at 30 especially if there are dips. However the 10 classes is very disappointing to me considering how big the game is 10 just does not allow for much variety. Especially considering that they put what is essentially duplicate classes with the mage and sorc, and then warfarer is just all the classes combined rather than being unique. Trickster is unique but kind of a meme. Also they simplified the classes by making them only able to equip 1 weapon now. So it seems like there just wont be as much depth or customization and variety of gameplay as the first. But I am hoping I am wrong and that each classes really carves out there own identity and playstyle. But still was really hoping for some other cool fantasy archetypes like the assassin, samurai, or monk. Lets hope the dlc expands on this.

I am being very skeptical as original Dark Arisen was a chopshop that I DID NOT enjoy as a sorcerer as the AI for pawns was braindead and kept being petrified every 3 seconds, making combat meant for a party of 1+3 very obnoxious and tedious. Felt like a scuffed MH3, with both worse gameplay and worse visuals. Gonna wait for full reviews, still probably cover it, albeit not for 90 cad, looks like should cost about 35 cad

As someone who plays Nintendo (I even played Pokemon Violet for quite a bit, somehow), I don't really mind 30 FPS, as long as it's fairly consistent.
Wish i could take advantage of VRR at least with my LG C1. What a shame. I’m meh with a locked 30. But with dips into the 20? Hard pass

My only complain is just 10 vocations because lack of variety for party member just like the first game, Fighter - The only Tank we got, Mage - the only Support we got.
I just hope they'll add 3-4 new vocation each month as DLC starting next month, if they're bundle with expansion, see you in next year 🤣 Also it would be funny if the Expansion DLC itself change the main game title from Dragon's Dogma to Dragon's Dogma II
When you get 24 fps anytime you fight anything that’s a poor experience and it doesn’t matter how good the game is because the only thing people will talk about is how piss poor it runs. 60 fps was supposed to be the new standard and if games can’t do that after years of the ps5 being out that’s 100% on the devs when you have open worlds like horizon that are a locked 60 and look better imo. It’s extremely disappointing when a new game comes out and can’t even hit 30fps consistently when my ps4 could run uncharted 4 arguably a better looking game better than this and the frame rate didn’t dip at all. I mean the ps5 literally says 4K 60/120 fps in gold font on the box and anytime a game comes out at 30 FPS I literally can’t tell the difference from a ps4 game and that’s bs

Well I am glad I didn't preorder this game. The lack of advanced classes for 2 out of 4 base classes is extremely disappointing, and only 10 vocations total doesn't do it for me. The rumors I heard about them trying to axe modding is also a huge deal breaker.

it's not 4k native. If it was 4k native they would have a performance mode. because running 4k on a 1080p monitor makes no sense. They're using some catfish resolution scaled up to 4k for marketing. And no performance mode because well the resolution is already low enough to make performance mode potintless.

If they had a performance mode targeting a stable 60fps we would be talking about 720p or even less upscaled to 1080p which would look awful with todays standards. I thought about going half with my buddy I gameshare with on Xbox so we can get a deal and share our pawns but like a lot of recent releases lately I think this is gonna have to be another one I play on my pc. Consoles just aren’t cuttin it anymore
UNCAPPED TARGETING AROUND 30 FPS though, that’s not normal at all. A couple previewers who played it said it dipped BELOW 30 FPS! That’s crazy for a modern AAA game. Also it has only one visual mode so don’t expect a performance mode. This is not normal. This isn’t speculation either, look up Dragons Dogma 2 FPS. Eurogamer and GameInformer both have good interviews where Itsuno clarifies all this stuff
@@Mohgenstein he showed it in this video someone was testing it and averaging 32 but when he started fighting some small enemies it dipped all the way down to 24 and wasn’t able to stay at a consistent 30. I don’t care what excuses they have that’s just bad and unacceptable especially 2 weeks from launch

The sub-reddit is on fire right now and I had to argue with a bunch of people already that the uncapped framerate is simply not ok and people are not in the wrong for expecting much better from a modrrn game, when 60 fps modes are a standard on consoles.
I personally would even be fine with capped 30 (still bad, but acceptable) however the range seems to be between 24 to 35+ fps. At worst I might not even be able to play the game probably since it will hurt my eayes and cause headaches, tho that will depend on the frquency and how massive the jumps in fps are.
It's honestly sad to see how they pretty much dropped the ball this close to release.
Anyways I do hope for the best, but I have learned to expect the worst.

I play on PC at 120fps for most games and idc about 30fps as long as it's stable enough most of the time. i watched gameplay comparisons for red dead 2 then booted up red dead 2 and tried it and it doesn't matter to me at all, 60 is definitely butter smooth though.
You want BAD framerate? play Black Desert online on ps3 or 4 bro then you'll see what bad frame rate is.
I really had fun with ark survival evolved with 10 to 20 fps (i think, 200 hours). So no issue for me

I can't understand all of Capcom's decisions. Dragon's Dogam was always an underdog and absolutely underrated and now they want to bury the series? It has so much potential and I find it sad that Capcom is taking so many steps backwards. I do not get it.

I agree, Cyberpunk even at launch was still a banger even with its problems and now it's massively redeemed after the backlash. That being said, almost never worth it to pre-order.
If I really like the look of a game and the company has produced a lot of stuff I've liked, i will pre-order just to support them sometimes. Sometimes.
People who play console if you want 60fps consistently stop and get a pc you can literally build one more powerful than a console. To expect 60fps at 4k or even 1440p is ridiculous for only $500
Call me whatever u want but i refuse to play at 30 when i know it can be such a better experience at 60.
So glad I switched to a gaming laptop for only $900. This doubles as work laptop and the portability is awesome. Not to mention near infinite games and runs all games easily at 60 fps. Can do 120fps but pretty well but all I need is 60 and I want longevity from my laptop

Why not add a performance mode?? I just don't understand it. If your goal is to keep everyone happy, this accomplishes that. It just flies in the face of common sense and logic.
