Great video. Met my brother who lives in Taiwan for a holiday in Tokyo last May and based on your other videos went here. He purchased his first Rolex a 5 digit sub from 2003. He now wears it everyday.
Good Watch was a really interesting spot. Visited most of the watch stores in Nakano in 2018. Looking forward to the Day I can Travel again and Actually buy my first High end watch
Great video. Japan’s Watch markets are amazing. And that vintage parts shop. Probably a 2-3 hundred grand sitting there worth of inserts and bracelets. Yep those vintage bezel insert prices are breathtaking. Just sold a mint 5513 Fat Font Long 5 insert for an obscene amount of money. That’s just what the going rate is. High demand Vintage parts are getting harder and harder to source.
Great watch parts shop there, the choices for the bezels are amazing there, along with Daytona dials, bracelets :) nice kermits and Vintage GMTs 1675 too, the smaller GMT hands looks kinda cute to me
Prices havent gone down there cause everything isnt closed like in other countries. People are still going around looking at watches in person so there isnt much panic (yet). Stay safe bro ohayo
It's clear that there are more Rolex watches for sale on the used market then there are Rolex wearers. ;-) I just read that the ceramic sub's bracelet will fit my Polar 16570! Wow. That bracelet and its clasp are unparalleled. If I could somehow pick one up I would retire my Polar's Oyster bracelet to the safe as the Sub's bracelet has those on the fly micro-adjustments.
Some nice deals in Japan, I may have to visit when I’m ready to pick up a SD4K. Btw that ceramic Pepsi looks like the Mark 3 I own. They look like a Coke when not in direct light.
Good tour round and knowledge as ever. The 1680 red is a mk2 Singer dial (Singer dial has the L in Rolex centred under coronet and thus a bit of a gap between O and L in ROLEX some Singers eg 5513/1675 also have 5 ticks/secs used to space the T25 etc). With metres first they can go from white (least lovely to my eye) to very brown (very lovely) - and if your very lucky the dial will turn brown too over time, which makes the red pop - that'll add $5k too. Not uncommon for the hands to age more - but it doesn't look balanced. MTRS first circa $27-35k FEET first $22-25k both watch only rough price. The 1680 white is cheap at $15k - best value 4 digit out there is a 1665 Great white as half the price of a DRSD and made for one year less too - $20k gets you into one - $40k plus in ten yrs !!
@@watchsymposium Cheers - those 16750 Matt's looked nice too One other very important fact for you readers getting into transitional 5 digit Matt dials eg 16750/16800/5513/16660 they changed in mid 80s to less collectable gloss/wg - 8,500,000 serial number is the cut off / if later serial then 95% likely it's a dial swop to earn seller $2000 plus more !!
Austin you’re so good with years, serials, references. Do you have a naturally good memory? I have a 16600 Sea Dweller sleeping in the cupboard. Hopefully it will have put on 25% by the end of 2021.
Hi Austin please could you touch on if someone buys one of the watches in your video how much would they pay to Import the watch back to the UK ie tax duty vat
Hey Austin, there is a constant regurgitation of the age old question around whether there really is a variation in bezels on the 126710BLRO GMT's. It has been suggested that there are as many as 3 versions colloquially labelled Mk1; Mk2 and Mk3. You appear to be one of only a few UA-cam Content Providers that have access to large quantities of watches through your many trips around Japan's retail stores. Is there any chance you might be able to locate somewhere that has all these variations in stock and you can maybe get some detailed, side by side images so we can see whether there really are 3 different versions and more importantly what difference does or will this make in the future? For your information, I've yet to be convinced. Cheers!
3:34 wow Austin the 16613 on the left has an amazing blue dial; the one next to it has a purplish tint. I guess rolex changed the tint from a certain series? the one on the left is a U while the other is a W. hmmmm
Austin, I've got a 1989 16613 Bluesy - purple dial and lots of creamy patina. I got a great deal on that watch, but never really liked it. Like you, it was that damn bracelet. Just a bit too much bling for me. I finally found a nice, vintage style of leather strap for it and oh my God, it is just lovely now. It turned from a watch I wanted to flip to a real keeper and at the last Red Bar event before the beer virus the watch was a real hit, getting a lot of attention. It's something to think about - buy one and ditch the bracelet, although I know you prefer your watches on bracelets.
Austin Daniels here is a link to a thread with pictures of what I did with my Bluesy, which included putting it on a SS bracelet. I returned the watch to stock for a RSC service. Now it’s standard, but on a vintage leather strap, unfortunately no pictures in the thread though of the latest and best configuration. forums.watchuseek.com/f23/help-dressing-down-rolex-sub-bluesy-4674343.html
Rolex is not Grand Seiko. They don't know how to do interesting watch designs or amazing dials. They are stuck with using 50 year old models. You are out of luck. That Milgauss was their last attempt at doing something interesting, and even that was from a design cue back in the day.

Austin Austin Austin - shame on you! At 2:20 you show a row of 6 watches. The one on the far right is a gorgeous looking champagne dial Daytona 6265 with what look like tropical patined sub dials priced at 11,500,000 Yen. Fuck me dead, surely that would have been worth a closer look at instead of that AC3 Explorer ???

Thanks as always for these watch shopping videos Austin. I love those 1655’s. They would be at the top of my shopping list along with a Bluesy.
Thanks BB. Hey, that would work, but you'd have to change your username: Bluewatch Buddah
Great video, would love to go there 1day. Thanks again 👍
Wear the bluesy on a brown leather strap for day to day and strap on the bracelet for an occasion!
Incredible really, the stuff available at Nakano.
great video thank you - Q - I travel to Japan annually from hawaii is it better to try to get a new explorer in Tokyo?
Wow, that shop has so many watches. 👍
Prices havent gone down there cause everything isnt closed like in other countries. People are still going around looking at watches in person so there isnt much panic (yet). Stay safe bro ohayo
Was wondering, where do you think the best place to buy a used rolex in, Hong kong or Japan etc?
Ooo...at :530, did you talk to the chap? I remember that guy. He didn't seem too friendly.
It's clear that there are more Rolex watches for sale on the used market then there are Rolex wearers. ;-)

It's Time Get an aftermarket Matty. 😁
Thanks for great video

I am looking for Omega, which would be cheapest watch shop in Tokyo?
Hi Austin please could you touch on if someone buys one of the watches in your video how much would they pay to Import the watch back to the UK ie tax duty vat
Circa 22-28% incl of vat / import duty / handling fees + ancillaries = don't bother my advice.
Which did you buy or is it just a looking at watches video
Great video - love the hat 😂

Any suggestion for buying a preowned platinum day-date president Rolex in Tokyo?
If you're a tourist, bring your passport and you won't have to pay sales tax. It's save you thousands!
Will do. Thanks.
I like to visit that store
How much does a black early 2000s Explorer 2 go for?
1655 for the win! Great Vid Austin.

They all started out blue, but some of those older tritium dials turn purple over the years, and the bezel inserts too. It's an interesting aesthetic.
ok that's interesting.thank for sharing

omg...when did you took this?don't around in japan
Has the price reduced because of covid19?
10% sales tax is why I'll never buy from an AD in my state.
Here is my dream Rolex. A GMT Coke with Green glass from the Milgaus. Now that's what I would call a coke.
Why the green glass?
