Fun fact - they glued Ruyter’s boots to the ground because they haven’t made film fast enough to capture her spazzing out. The slo mo jump is when she finally escaped!!
At age 75 I only discovered the long version of Berton's solo on My Sharona about a year ago and have become obsessed with it as possibly my favorite solo of all time. And I used to hang with Stevie Ray. So I agree completely, I was like what is this about and how bad is it going to be? You make it your own!
@@brucenewlin6208 Wow, it took you long enough! When I first heard the long version of this song, some weeks after it debuted, it changed my taste in music. I needed MORE 2 minute guitar solos! It remains one of my all-time favorite solos. I really enjoy what Berton created, it's like a story, or even a roller-coaster. Just a wonderfully-crafted solo! I'm a big SRV fan as well, got to see him perform live about a month before he died :(
Finding the album version indeed is world-changing. After months of hearing the single version on the radio and jukeboxes in 1979, I received Get The Knack for my birthday later in the year and MY world was changed forever. To this day, I nominate Berton's solo when people want to discuss "Great Guitar Solos." I also get aggravated when anyone plays the "radio edit."
@@Prof_Jeff I jokingly refer to the original version as, "a life-support system for a guitar solo", I'm so enamored of it. 😀 It's wonderfully crafted, taking you on a ride that is full of twists and turns, a ride that never gets dull and always builds tension until the very end. It's truly like a roller-coaster, one that, when it's over, you jump up and say, "AGAIN!"
@@Doc-Jon I have half-jokingly said over the years that if I were holding auditions for a lead guitarist, I would require the candidates to perform this solo. That, or it would be part of a final performance exam in rock guitar!😀
This is fantastic!
Featuring Ruyter Suys from Nashville Pussy on guitar as well. \m/_ _\m/
Ruyter rockin it , NP Forever ✌️
and Ruyter from NP! - so tranquil.
I don't know what fever dream of a UA-cam rabbit hole led me to this video, but I am absolutely here for all of it. Bravo
I've never seen Ruyter so stationary lol.
Aha yep!

@@NashvillePussyOfficial Ahaha the boots are still there 😂
Thank you for having fun with it. It is a true performers song!
Why is Ruyter excluded from the description? Somebody needs to fix that asap.

Why didn't they credit Ruyter Suys' participation?
It’s Eddie and Franks band…. I am merely a ‘player’
A hired-hand, but you still feature front and centre in the video.

My Chorona😎👍
So people always laugh and mock me when I say this, but The Knack should be in the RnR HoF!!!👍🏻
I was ready to hate this. How do you cover Berton Averre? Well, you make it your own! Great job!

Cioe',vorrei capire..le mani di Averre,sono..prestate..durante la sequenza che le inquadrano?
God Damn Ma Shall !!!!!

Eddie is the only one who looks like they wear a tie. Everybody else looks like they are wearing a tie to high school.
👍👍👍👌👌👌
I remember this song.
Wow ! So Great. Excellent Musicians & Performers ! Better Than the Original ?
Where was Berton Averre, other than co-writing the song and doing much better guitar licks and solos than this version?
Why would you just copy an original verbatim? Guitar solo aside, you could have just saved the money and done a karaoke version.
Cause its fucking fun!!!

I thought so, too
This sounds exactly like the original. So what's the point? I can just listen to the original.
...oh c'mon....that guitar solo was nothing like the original....
I liked it.
I liked the original as well - and I hate everything.
U def?
Wow....crappy take on one of the most classic guitar solos of all time.
das hauptsolo ist ne Katastrophe
Awesome!
