I've been doing my lower thirds in AE. This should help improve my workflow. And I like that this doesn't use the live text templates feature in CC so it works for those of us that are using older versions.
And having your standard colors as a swatch to pick from is a great idea too.

Using live text templates to change all of their names doesn't always work super smooth so I know what you mean. Thanks for the nice comment!

This was a great tutorial for a project I'm working on, but the only thing that I'm having trouble with is changing the text in Premiere once the graphic is duplicated. It changes the text on the original as well. Is there a quick fix here?

Hi - Great video and files. I have a question for you. I put it all together in premier pro (I don't have after effects, and I'm brand new to premier pro). The program is really overwhelming, but I was able to follow your instructions really well. I'm coming from iMovie, so its a steep learning curve. QUESTION: Is there a way to save this lower third as a template so I don't have to type name in again on a future video or move the logo around, cut, reverse, etc. Does premier allow that? Can't find out how to do it on google.

Hey Kev!! I always love and admire your skills and talents when it comes to making and editing videos. My self as an entrepreneur and an artist etc…. Would love to be able to do a lot of this on my own right now. But the reality is…… probably won’t happen due to the learning curve on Adobe. I have them all a test drive a few months ago and all it did was stall my productivity dead in its tracks for a week. Lol 🙈
With that being said. Have you Eve me considered building, offering software or your own paid website that would offfer your own templates and video editing tools etc…!?? Kinda like click funnels editor, Vimeo and/or Canva etc…. But for video? 🤔

Rico Smith thanks Rico! :-) Well I got thrown into the fire so to speak back in 2005 when I had to build and edit an entire 1 hour TV show every single week for FOX in San Diego. I created the motion graphics package, edited all the segments, the commercials. Everything. Let's just say the first several shows we did, I was editing around the clock. Then it got better and better as time went on. We produced 67 shows before it finally was off the air ;)

I use adobe Premiere pro cc 2014 or so...on a Windows 8.1. I don't know shortcuts and most of your shortcuts are for Mac OS. I wanted to do it by myself then you lost me with the shortcuts. I lost you when you open the mask template with a shortcut...

Perks Inc. render it out with an alpha channel. My favorite setting is apple pro res 4444+ if you can't figure it out just google it. Hope that helps!

How do you take an animated lower thirds MP4 and add it over the actual video though? You don't show that process. I keep trying to add the video over the video of me talking and it's just a black screen with the lower third animation.
amanda pratt when you export the video out of after effects, you want to make sure it has an alpha channel. Type that in on UA-cam and there's a lot of tutorials on that. Sorry I didn't cover it. Type in "render with alpha channel After Effects" in UA-cam.
You are essentially creating a transparent background
