I really think you guys should grow Montana lavender clay corn, it is a traditional Native American corn, and is well adapted to the cold climates you like in. It is great for cornmeal, and it is very pretty, with striking lavender kernels and a little bit of blue, so you can use it in ornaments too. Baker creek sells it, and I think it would be great for you to grow. By the way, I really like your channel, and always am excited when I see you posted a video!!! (:
I'd like to try it some time
That sounds really neat. I bet it tastes better than the regular commercial corn. Does the purple coloring stay when it's ground into cornmeal?
I wanna grow potatoes I love the channel and I also have a home made garden and I’m Irish so I’m so exited to possibly get some potato seeds
Nirrrina . As far as I know you can’t eat it like the regular Corn on the cob, I could be wrong. It’s used for grinding into cornmeal and making mush.
I’ll find out:) Other nations might do it different though
Same girl same
We are actually buying our first house this spring. We will be growing everything from peppers to corn to pumpkins to melons and I can’t wait!
I’ve thought about it. Even if no one watches it would be nice to have a collection on videos of our little farm .
Congratulations.
Will watch it as well 😁
Hey, I'd watch your farm grow also! That would be an amazing research project (I study and watch how people and the environment interact by noting the impacts and influences they have on one another). Channels like these help to find a solution for how people can get the most food resources with the least impact on the environment. Also, Congratulations on your farm, lol even if you choose not to post!
Then maybe I will. nice to know someone would watch. I’m a little extra excited now ☺️
Love seeing you showing your children compassion and care for animals.
I would absolutely love to have had my kids brought up like this.
Obviously didn’t want it that badly though otherwise it would be happening.
Anyway- awesome to see someone doing it right .

We are buying our first homestead this year! So we plan to have a big garden so I can put lots of veggies away! Our favorite garden vegetable though is tomato’s!
They’re gonna remember their amazing childhood😊❤️
Ordered a catalog, can’t wait! This year we had our first “official” & successful garden. Super excited & a learning experience. The carrots tasted amazing but never grew bigger than a couple inches long. So I’d love to grow them again as well as mammoth sunflowers again. We love roasted radishes and watermelon. So those would be just a couple of the new items we want to try this year. Very exciting and love having the fresh food!
Blaze is a nice name for the new male pheasant. He is a cute young bird and has an interesting trick, WHAT? You were not fooled? Lol so he was banded despite his trick!
That coop is getting closer to being done. Can you believe the temperatures on Christmas Day? Here in SW Missouri we reached 70F. I can see this helped get a few things done up there. There is much for which to be thankful. It was a Merry Christmas.
Barbara Houk , wasn’t Blaze funny?! Especially the 2nd time! Drifting in and out.........fading away slowly............ 😂 he is such a little drama queen!
Young Blaze is going to need to man up pretty quickly! He’s now got 4 ladies to watch out for and protect, no time for his theatrics! It could be a total turn off for the ladies!! Lol
Imagine being the only male with all those females, but none of them would accept him because he’s a big chicken and only playing dead to protect himself, not those ladies!! 😂

Here are my 3 things that I can’t wait to make when I start my garden this spring...
1.) Loofah Squash (and then turn it into homemade soap!)
2.) Sunflowers 🌻 - my fam grew these growing up and we loved harvesting the sunflower seeds and roasting them
3.) Rhubarb - Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and Rhubarb Lemonade 😍
Ever since I learned where Loofah sponges came from I wanted to try to grow my own, so this year I want to grow Luffa gourds aka Luffa aegyptiaca.
Love your videos and seeing all the hard work you guys are putting in to the new house.
I think you should grow butternut squash. It's great for baking pumpkin pie and many other pumpkin recipes. It's is easy to grow and you can harvest the seeds from the squash and either bake them or save them to grow the next season. I just want you guys to know that I've been watching your videos for about a year now and you guys have inspired me to grow a garden, sadly where I live is not compatible for chickens if it was I would already have them. Love you guys so much ❤️
merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone .

I want to grow a butterfly garden next year...so planning on growing some fennel, dill and parsley to attract swallowtails and some milkweed for attracting Monarchs. I know Baker Creek carries all these seeds since I just ordered some. I also want to plant some colorful flowers that will attract bees and butterflies to the nectar so hoping to get some more flower seeds to plant. I bet the boys would LOVE to have a little butterfly garden...and then they can even bring the caterpillars inside to observe the whole process of becoming butterflies. That’s what I do each year....bring in and raise Monarch butterflies and then release them. But I only do a few since I only have a few pots of plants they need. Hoping to plant a big garden next up year for them.
Instead of a net, maybe use those vertical plastic curtains they use in public aviaries?

This year I'm hoping to work about a 1/4 acre of my property this year and grow just about everything! What I am most excited for is I have seeds for Luffa plants, though I'm not sure how well they'll grow in Ontario. My other hope is to get some nice heirloom carrot seeds!

That bird may be seizing. Smaller sized birds like parrots and budgies can have seizures under stressful situations such as being held..

Not a Hedgehog we dont have them here in Australia those little guys are called Echidna's look them up they are real cool and totally different they are also a marsupial so they carry babies in a pouch and the babies are called puggles which is the cutest baby name ever
Echidnas and platypus are monotremes. They lay eggs AND feed their babies milk like a mammal. Platypus do not have a pouch but echidnas do.
Haha ur right.

Outside the standard things to grow in a garden I want to grow melons, fennel and sunflowers!
I love to see the love for the birds.
I love watching your place grow.
I am a new follower of your you tube channel and one thing I love so much about it is that you include your children in your video's. Looks like you are raising them up in a very good way!
I haven't been able to grow a garden for 3 years and we will finally have our own place again this spring. I want to put in some Scarlett runners because I miss the beautiful flowers and shade they give.
You must try to grow/pant sunflowers.
What makes sunflower seeds so good for chickens?
They are particularly high in levels of...
Vitamin "E": known to be vital for the poultry immune system and a protector against diseases like coccidiosis, e.coli and bronchitis(1).
Protein: high levels of protein (around 26%) make this a great boost for chickens at times of stress such as moulting and cold weather.
Oil: the high levels of linoleic acid(2 and 3) increases weight and sets chickens up for the winter months, and adds to the nutritional value (and weight) of eggs.
Antioxidants: sunflowers are rich in natural antioxidants(4) - another boost to the the immune system.
I hope if they pick 3 winners we can also have a igift from white house on the hill heheehe just joking merry christmas

"Pokemon!" That was so cute and funny!
It made me smile and laugh also. I miss my children being little, both of mine grew up on me lol.
I don't think that was a hedgehog on the card. I think it was an echidna. It's an Australian hedgehogy marsupial.
I think I had my echidna removed.
You're right. They are mammals that lay eggs. Thanks.
What I like about this channel is how the kids are involved in the farming. They also get to see the full life cycle of these animals, from birth to death. The turkey episode was good, since the kids could see firsthand how life is unfair sometimes, with livestock meeting a premature death. These early life lessons will prepare them for later life in the outside world.
Our 8 year old twins have been asking more and more for us to grow our own pumpkins next year. So I think we would love to grow some "New England Sugar Pie Pumpkins". Thank you and Baker Creek For doing this. Very cool!!!
TRUE BLACK BRANDYWINE TOMATO TP114 is the one i would grow from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

Congrats on the new male, Blaze! What a perfect name for him, oh my goodness! Love it 😄👍
If you don’t mind my asking, I’m just curious: do you not clip your birds’ flight feathers? Most people I know who keep types of fowl that can fly for greater distances do that with at least one wing, especially with Guineafowl as they do tend to try to fly off a great deal, so I’m just wondering why you don’t (IF you don’t that is). No judgement here at all, regardless of the answer, just merely curious. 😉
My hubby is dreadfully allergic to bird dander, so although we keep a few laying hens (that I have full responsibility for), we don’t keep any other type of birds. I love watching your videos of all your birds, especially the Emus. I’ve been enjoying your videos for a while now and remember when your first one was super tiny and running around your old house indoors, all dressed in his little sock “diaper”, lol.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday season. Blessings to you all.
There are some wild guinea hens around, the neighbors and I enjoy them, may make a great addition, lotsa personality and pretty feathers., Just saw a video they have em already🤣🤣👏👏gonna free range em

I'd like to grow loofah. It would be so cool to wash the dishes with a loofah grown in my own garden.
Chubby Wren um ok?
Loofah is for exfoliating the skin... Wouldn't work to wash dishes.
@@sapphirejones7302 We've been using it to wash dishes for a long time, it works really well and doesn't scratch the pans.
I want to grow a cross breed of watermelon and cucumber where when they are small you cut opposite slits one going up into the plant and one going down on the plant (both slits are on the stem) then you attached them by sliding the slits together then either taping or rubber banding or close pining then together
Narwhal Penguin that’s an interesting concept.
Not sure that would taste good. But if you like it, I hope it works for you.
If you plant them side by side, they will cross-pollinate. It happened all the time when we grew them. Had some really watery and not very sweet watermelons. Blech.
Baker Creek is such a great company! The photos in their catalogs are frame worthy!
Liked the look of the Aji Pineapple Hot Pepper HPP153, new this year🙂
❤ your family's channel & all the hard work you all put in to everything!
I love it that you let your family be a part of reading the cards and who they were from for Christmas. I will pray that your new mail pheasant does well. Although it was timid at first it looked so lovely within a short amount of time in active and I think you’re going to have a lot of eggs and babies and that will be my prayers. It is hard to lose any animal but especially as one is gorgeous is your gorgeous present was… I’m not sure I’m calling it the right thing… I apologize for that I grew up on a farm with 11 siblings and we planted at least 4 to 5 acres to see trees and orchards and mini berries of different kinds in it was a great life! When I had my own place I planted with my children and even my grandchildren but 10 years ago I got cancer and my my first oncologist thought she knew more than the rest of the World and when we would tell her we could fill the neuropathy symptoms in our feet instead of stopping all together she would just switch to a new chemo drug so before they caught on to what she was doing I had been given three different Chemo Drugs over the course of a year… and now I am paying the price as well as all the other patients that were hers. Even though she was fired it doesn’t change the amount I’m harm that has been done. My point in telling you this is it for a while I’ve not been able to garden until about four years ago five years ago. I lost my home and I slowly began just planning flowers and then I began doing potted vegetables because my body just would not bend down and do the hard work of vegetable gardening until I decided to allow myself to try raised beds. I love so many vegetables and fruits but I would like to try the new carrots that are too colored such as purple and orange. But more importantly I would like to give this catalog to my sister who is husband has been forced to retire at an early age from having Parkinson’s. He was a farmer to and it’s really hard to watch a man be unable to do anything and she has to support them and they have 40 acres of land and they are planning everything they can to be sustainable. If you draw my name I’d like to give my catalog or my seeds whatever you’re giving away to my sister Kathie Caylor by contacting me…We live in the Midwest where we are in zones five and six and I can’t speak for what she would want but she is imaginative and she’s got a new grandson. I am putting sees from white peaches and yellow peaches and plums are all excellent that I’ve been drying through the winter and I’m starting them very soon for fall planting. I enjoy your videos very much and your family and just the overall compassion by which you treat one another and your animals. Happy holidays and God bless you❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

Yes. They are way too noisy for me. And their sound grate on the ears. Raised some once, and will never do it again.
I love to grow tomatoes. Lots of tomatoes in lots of varieties. Last year I had some heirloom seeds that I had harvested from a tomato I bought at a farmers market and those grew some tomatoes that looked like drawstring purses.
