I was well known in my area at KJAN, KNEW and Atlanta center to where the controller would call my tail number and personalize transmissions with my name. I even took a couple of controllers up because of my youtube channel. Talk about an eye opening experience for both me and the controller! I sure hope Adam, you get a chance to go up with Mr. Aviation as meeting the various controllers was a highlight of my flying endeavors!
This video is actually so old, but something you’ve said that I’ve taken and used with my students and myself is how you full stall pretty much every landing. It helps grasp the idea of how we are need to manage the energy in the approach and makes for a smooth touchdown🙌🏼

Honestly josh is so awesome watching these flights lately so therapeutic and relaxing to take your mind of whats going on in the world right now with the virus outbreak and that. I did some flying out of Torrance when I lived in So. Cal. back in 2010. Wow! That was 10 years ago already. How time flies. You had some real nice greaser landing there a time or two Josh. Generally the winter time flying weather is CAVU in So. Cal. although you will get the Marine layer sometimes. Then comes the May Gray and June Gloom where you rarely get to see much sunshine during those spring months. Not much of a problem if you are an IFR pilot since the Marine layer is not usually very thick or high. But for VFR pilots it can ruin your flying plans. My favorite airport is in San Diego. Montgomery Field where they have the greatest Mexican Restaurant on top of the terminal with an excellent view around the area and the food is fantastic. It's called "Casa Machado". If your flying day is finished then the Margaritas there are great too. Thanks for the great video Josh. Looking forward to that international flight in the Malibu. P.S. Check out the Glider port at Warner Springs too if you happen to be in the vicinity. They do rides there. Friendly folks.

I was looking at your flotation vest made by Switlik. HIs family settled in Jackson and donated the money for our first grade school. I went to Switlik grade school in Jackson,NJ. Named after him and built in 1946 or 7. I was in the first class that attended that school. Stanley Switlik made parachutes during world war 2 and settled in my town. I wonder if that vest was a product of his company. I just noticed a tiny parachute on the vest logo so it probably was Switlik. It's been many years and it's nice to know the company still exists. Then I saw the video of you and Josh collaborating and he is helping her navigate your new plane over to your place. Haven’t seen this video in a while. I actually think I may have missed this video to seeing you guys collaborate brings a smile on my face.
Borrego is my backyard! I fly out of Ramona just west of there (Krnm) . I frequent the desert of ocotillo wells just east of the town of Borrego springs. Cool to see some familiar terrain

@@bobshaw4063 I was going to be an airline pilot, but the airline industry was crap in 2010. I decided to try my hand in software engineering (my degree was computer science). So, I've been doing that since 2010 and flying for fun. Yeah, I've been actively teaching on my days off since 2017.
As a military pilot with plenty of time you are dead on with the communication part. When in doubt, over communicate it will never hurt anything except your pride but always better than losing your plane or worse. Always about breaking the crucial link in the chain of events that lead to a mishap. Great video as always, you were an inspiration to get me back in to GA flying and buying my family hauler PA-32

Great video I really enjoy your videos.I noticed that you use for flight I don't know much about aviation apps but I work for a search-and-rescue agency here in Florida and I noticed today in our computer aided dispatch that are aviation section was on a call training with foreflight for search and rescue.
You fly a 1976 C-172--isn't that a 150 hp Lycoming? I flew one during my private and instrument training. I now fly a 1986 P model with a 180hp engine for CAP. Your plane seems bigger than ours. Seats are closer together and less room in back. Of course, I'm also 60 lbs bigger now. I like your new panel, you have stuff that you don't normally find in a C-172. My instructor taught me to count during flap extension also. Good luck with your trips.
Just a little tip with LA airspace; be sure to brief the nearest airports to your destination before going in. Not so much so that you have an alternative. Instead, so that you can identify your airport from others. There's a bunch and the cityscape below can make identifying the airports tricky. This is especially true when trying to identify airports like Compton or Hawthorne, both of which easily blend into the surrounding streets and freeways. Google maps is really helpful as well (and free).
I'm jealous of your weather there... I'm from Toronto, Ontario area... nothing but overcast/rain/snow 8/7 days lol... and when it's clear, it's windy :(

I love to fly the M models, on occasion. Sadly, I've been spoiled by having access to brand new S models airplanes for a relatively low cost. The speed difference is definitely present. The G1000NXi with autopilot for long trips is a definite plus. The downside is the C172S airplanes feel like a truck compared to the M models. The weight difference is also present

The wife and I worked very hard for many years and live frugally enough to retire, move, build our dream home on the field of an airport community. Don’t presently own a plane but plan to rectify that after we finish the house and hangar constructions.

For a visual using a mapping program and look at “A20” the SunValley Airport just 5 miles south of the Laughlin Bullhead International Airport. We are building on the east side of the runway. The road just east is named “Taxiway” and the 2nd road east is “Antelope Drive” the east west connectors are all named after different aircraft. These roadways are all officially taxiways and aircraft have the right of way. The “official” taxiway for the public use airport is in the west side of the runway.
Just wondering, with the radios in the US, are they 25 khz spacing or 8.33? For example 118.600 118.625 118.650 (25khz) OR 118.600 118.605 118.610 118.150 118.300 (8.33khz) and so on...

Its the expected glide area, it estimates where your aircraft can glide to.
