Hi Sean, first of all Think Media is amazing 👏. I have learned quite a bit from you. I am really passionate about changing peoples lives. That's why I created a channel to spread the motivational words of great motivators. I am very new to content creation. Do you have any suggestions for me? Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!
Would the condenser mic work if I have a fish tank in my kitchen that I can still hear in my living room where I record.
We are searching a small mic with good quality for cat ASMR ..
hi im have an acrylic art tutorial channel im very technology challenged but would like to know what you think about me recording my videos on my iPad pro, i do need this new microphone i believe.
im trying to learn more about editing on iMovies etc, i do not show mt face its all about the art tutorial. any advice guys?
Dynamic vs condenser microphone for podcasting. Which one should we pick.
I have q1u but the sound is not too good. Currently I use samson c01u pro. But watching this video makes me want the q2u
I got this at Best Buy back in February for 60 bucks. Came with XLR cable, wind screen, a stand, and a pop filter. It also sounds better than my Audio technica. Great buy
Thanks for the simple explanation of the difference between ondenser and dynamic mic!
Great review! Super clear sounding. Another item that I have to add to my list of tools. Thanks!
What's awesome about this video alone, for me, is that I already have a Samson Q2U that I bought for podcasting and music vocal recording at home (I also have an Audio-Technica AT2005USB mic). I love them both, I dig the sound and knowing all these additional ways I can use it it super helpful! (I have an audio interface so I totally forgot I could use it as a USB mic, LOL, but this is helpful if I wanted to use it with my iPhone). Thanks, Omar!
This was my first mic. I researched the Mic and thought also that this mic was a great entry level tool. Great choice.
🔥💯
Wow! The differences are incredible. 😲 Thank you so much for another awesome video!! I am a first timer, just took GWVL, loved it!!! 💚😁🥰
I finally "JUST HIT RECORD", trying out my first videos and getting used to being on camera. Currently using OnePlus 7T with a lavaliere, looking to step up. Also going to check out your tripod and accessory recommendations. So glad I discovered your channel just 4 months ago when I was researching lights!! (Got the Neewer bi-660 set. 🙂) Thank you for all of your content!!
This mic is great. Was unable to use my Rode NTG because of a camera issue, but happened to already have the Samson Q2U laying around and my last couple videos came out pretty good with the sound quality on this mic.
A very nice video!!!
The quality, the sound, the information, everything is great. And it's just so good to listen to him explain
Honestly I was just thinking of getting a mic and then this popped up 👍. I think it sounded great. Thanks
Good example of the difference between a dynamic mic, and a condenser mic! Thanks!
I was completely SOLD on this mic when Sean casually introduced it during a livestream by switching between it and his $200+ signature Zoom mic and very few watching the livestream could hardly tell a difference!
One suggestion I highly recommend for iPhone users is, instead of getting the USB to Lightning adapter used in the video, get the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. It’s basically the same as the adapter in this video, but it also has a Lightning in port that will both power the mic AND change your phone at the same time!
Furthermore, when it comes to adapters like these, DON’T CHEAP OUT! You’ll save yourself a ton of frustration, disappointment, money, time, and regret if you spend the little extra money for the Apple branded stuff!
Normal charge/sync cables tend to be hit or miss the cheaper they are. Well, the cheap imitation knock-offs of special adapters like these are practically guaranteed to fail shortly after you buy them, if they even work to begin with.
The Apple cable is $40 most anywhere you can find it, Amazon, Walmart, even the Apple website!
Lightning adapters are evil! They were created to take more money form you and make your wallet lighter. Just buy a phone with a standardized USB-C port instead of that proprietary lightning.
Thank you for sharing this. I definitely need this for my narration. My latest vid has a good video but bad audio.
This video was SO helpful! Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling finding a good mic for a cheap price. This will be perfect!
Great info! Thank you!!
This mic has been in my Amazon cart for months. I wanted before but now I really want it, want it. Thanks for the review! I didn't know it did all that.
Thank you for making this review! :D
Great video. Really helpful. Thank you! 😊
thanks for the review!
Interesting thing about this mic is: It has no presence boost! Most mics - and almost _all_ consumer level/low-priced mics - have some kind of prominence in the upper-mid and/or high frequencies. This doesn't have one. Its response is unusually neutral. Folks listening to mic comparisons tests almost always prefer mics with presence boosts (they sound sparkly and 'produced'); but audio pros appreciate mics like this, cuz they're easier to slot into a mix, and also easier to add EQ to - if they want to add their _own_ presence boost, to their taste, in post (= software editing of the recording), or bump up the body of the sound in the low-mids. Kudos to Samson for going this neutral route. Be warned though: you'll want some kind of pop filter, or at least a thick foam wind-screen, and a good non-desktop stand for this mic - it's prone to plosives and physical bumps (low-freq. pops & bump sounds).
Thanks I really needed this video.
Happy to help!
Thanks..dont have a mic yet, would definitely look into it and trying it out
Thank you! It's useful to know about the app that lets me record audio directly onto my video recordings on my iPhone! I've been wondering about this!
Great mic 🎙️
Thanks for this review
Hey Omar...love your videos. Can you do one specifically about syncing your audio in post-production? Examples like what video/audio situations you might have that causes you to have to sync your audio and then how to do that? You may already have a video on this that I haven't found...if so can you point me to the URL? Thanks so much for all that you and the rest of the Think Media do.
One of the best Q2U reviews thanks. How would you compare this to a "step up" with the Samson Q9U?
The difference from MacBook to this mic is massive! Wow. Thank you for the review!!
Thanks for making your videos you really help out my channel ❤️
found this mic at a thrift store for only 6 bucks and after seeing this video I'm excited to see this is actually a quality mic. I use a blue yeti normally in my office setup but this may a new option for me. thanks for the review.
Thank you! My best-friend and I just started our podcast December 2024! Using this microphone tomorrow!!!
if I have the mic on its stand and its on the left of me so not in front of me(cuz it blocks view while gaming) is it still good enough then or do I really need to find a way to have it in front of me, so what im saying is; if I have it right next to the left side of the keyboard on the desk, deos it still work well?
I think the Samson Q2U mic sounds great. Definitely added it to my shopping list.
Love those budget gear tips! Another real life proof from Think Media Team that there is no need to break a bank if you want to start on this platform 😀💪!!!
I have a Q2U and I think it’s a pretty good mic for the money. I also have Ferrite Recording Studio and it works well, but I like Voice Record Pro 7 by Dayana Networks a little bit more. Good video. Thanks. 👍
I'd love to see a video of how you used the Ferrite app to dial in the audio. Did you get a separate video and audio files, or does Ferrite somehow determine how the stock Camera app records the sound from the mic ?
Thinking about getting a couple of these
I have this mic. It works excellently. Definitely recommend it.
I use the Q2U mounted on a boom arm as a part of my remote teaching (mathematics) gear, along with a pen-and-touch laptop (Dell XPS 15 2-in-1) connected to an external monitor and a Logitech C920 camera. I also have a few desk lamps and floor lamps set up in a DIY 3-point lighting setup.
The boom arm helps keeping the microphone close to my mouth as I type on the keyboard or write on my laptop screen. The audio quality is excellent. I like the fact that it does not pick up farther-away sound sources since my home-office is not a sound-treated studio.
Sick setup!
I'm heading to Amazon or where ever I can find this mic and buy it. 💜 Thanks so much for sharing this!
Good review, i wish you used the Q2U to record the audio for the entire video, instead of using the condensor mic for all the explanations.
I bought this mic more than 2 years ago. And it was awesome!
I'm definitely in the market for a mic for online streaming on Twitch and UA-cam and this sounds like a great deal. I'm going to add this to my gear list in Google Docs.
I just bought this microphone today. I was using a Blue Yeti Nano. But I bought some In Ear Monitors for gaming and monitoring my self through the headphone jack on the bottom. But I got a horrible hissing sound through the headphone jack. Drove me nuts. The microphone itself sound great but always picked up all the background noise. The Q2U solved BOTH of these issues and I could not be happier. Absolutely love it and it's 100% worth the money. Very solid build construction as well. Has a nice weight to it. Highly recommend.
if I have the mic on its stand and its on the left of me so not in front of me(cuz it blocks view while gaming) is it still good enough then or do I really need to find a way to have it in front of me, so what im saying is; if I have it right next to the left side of the keyboard on the desk, deos it still work well?
@@ExitiumD Hey! Sorry for the late reply! This is definitely a microphone you would want placed directly in front of you. For the best overall sound quality, you'd want to keep it 2-3 inches away from your lips. I keep mine on a cheap shock mount made by samson specifically for this microphone on a samson boom arm that I got from best buy a couple years ago. You'll need the shock mount so you don't annoy your friends when moving the boom arm around as you change seating positions while you game or just need to move it out of the way!. The Arm is 70$ the shock mount was like 10$ and the mic 70$ so for 150$ you can have a killer setup. I also switched to a pair of audio technica M30xs and plug those into the bottom of the mic for live monitoring and desktop pc sound like games and what not. Highly highly recommend all this stuff!
@@ThePlantedTankTV Thnx buddy good to know. I ended up going with a beyerdynamic Fox mic as they had a deal together with the Tyger 3 Headphones. I also got a Rode PSA1 boomarm with it and im loving it all. Great reply tho for whoever will check the section. Cya on the battlefield ;)
Thanks for sharing. My mic is very annoying in hot days because it picks up my laptop fan’s noise. Does this one fix the problem?
Dude, make a video on your recommendations for Video editing PC builds
Thanks Think Media! I just bought the g7x mark III and was looking for an affordable mic to use with it. Hopefully this helps me make better videos for my channel! Thanks for inspiring us everyday!
The boya by-m1 would work great with the g7x mark iii
Think Media love hearing that! Also after I saw the video on the firmware update I saw a change in the autofocus for the better :)
Love it. great job
I use the samson q2u to record my podcasts (She Just Went There) and its an amazing mic for anyone wanting to start a podcast, I record right into my ipad and use the Ferrite app as well to adjust my gain. I love it!
I bought a couple of Samson Q2U microphones and really like the quality of the sound and the price.
damn that compression in the zoom call
Hi, nice video. But how did you get the mic holder to fit on the stand? Hi, I bought the Samson Q2U mic but the holder does not fit on the stand. The fitting screws into a boom stand. But the supplied stand is too thick to go into the mic holder. There is a silver piece screwed into the bottom of the mic holder with two slots. It seems that this piece can come out and then the holder would be able to fit in, but try as I might I cannot screw the part out. Yes, I tried anti-clockwise at first and then clockwise just to ensure it is not counter thread.
That watch is the real star of this whole video 😍
Is it good for Android phones? Thanks Omar. Great mic!!!!
Hi Omar, loved the review. I purchased the Samson Q2U, and plugged in the USB cord to PC, and headphones plugged into mic. When I live stream on FB Live or Zoom, the volume gradually gets lower on my headphones, and then the sound goes out like I'm not using a mic, as well as the audio sounds distorted and robotic sounding when I play back video. I got the free Audacity app for my PC to adjust the gain for recording, but should I get an audio interface to fix this, and use the XLR cord instead of the USB cord? I returned the first mic, and purchased a new Samson Q2U, and having the same issues so I'm assuming the issue is with my settings or something. I'm not really audio savvy, so I was just curious if you had any advice on fixing this audio issue with distortion for live streaming and recording videos. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
For Zoom calls, do the headphones that plug into the mic allow you not only to monitor your input but also what others are saying? Would you recommend this set up over a headphone set? (I need it for Zoom calls, particularly where I’m doing standup comedy online.)
What's a good condenser mic to use? Also how do get that color in the background?
very nice sound.
Great infromation
any good low light camera recommendations?
Thanks from Chicago
Super helpful
What do you have your recording volume set too for the Q2U?
Awesome. thanks
Awesome. I'm trying to find the windscreen for this mic but nothing is available in the market. Could you please advise. Thank you.
I use mine with a SE Electronics Dynamite 🧨 and it sounds great man
What is the microphone you're using? (the condenser one)
Thanks I'm looking to up my game on live videos
I can’t wait to grow enough to be able to afford one of these! 👌🏾👌🏾😃
What condenser mic are you using? You're comparing both but I have no clue about the second one. A quick info would have been great.
im thinking of using this for my gaming channel because using subtitles is to much editing time when i have school. do u recomdend it for gaming channels?
Cool, I'll think about getting one of those microphones
Question, I use a Yette Mic for my UA-cam Channel would I be able to use this as well for better quality or will they cancel out each other.
Do you prefer this mic over the FiFine you reviewed about 6 months ago?
Definitely want the condenser u were using lol
Definitely sounds like it's worth the 60 bucks!
buuuut i wanna know which condenser mic you're using for the rest of the video and how much that was! also, did you have to filter out any external audio or are you in a very quiet room?
this is such an awesome option
AMAZING VIDEO!!!!
Can you please recommend a mic stand for Q2U.
Hey Sean I have a question that I hope you can help me out with!
I just bought a Canon g9x Mark 2. I’m wondering if there’s some kind of case that stays on the phone while I use it?? Kind of like what a phone case is for a phone. Does something exist like that?
I love these videos so much!!!!! I was looking for a budget mic!!! Thanks Think Media!!!🤣🤣🤣❤
Happy to help! 🙏🏻💯
You guys are awesome! Thanks!!🤣🤣👍🏼
The Q2U USB Mic is too low for me, I think the condenser mic is the way to go for UA-cam videos! but none the less great video Omar!
Is this advisable for singing/guitar playing videos?
Great Microphone I like it very much, bro
@Think Media , hola me podrían ayudar a elegir, entre el micrófono samson Q2U y Audio Technica AT2005 , ¿cual es el mejor ?
I'm doubting between Audio-Technica AT2020, Samson Q2U and FIFINE T669 which should I get for streaming in a quiet room?
I wish all of you success on your UA-cam journey, Its My Birthday..Much Luv
Happy birthday!
@@OmarEltakrori Preciate that
Hi! What if I want to use Movo mic on my Canon T4i through OBS. Do you think it's a good idea? How can I adjust audio level through HDMI? Thanks!
Aah!!! Finally, you answered a question I have been having about microphones
Is this better than something like hyperx quadcast or blue yeti?
Would this be a good choice for a streaming mic? My budget is around $120
When your early but don’t know what to say 😁 I actually needed a microphone though so thank you for sharing this review!
Hey! Wanna help each other grow?
This is the mic i chose very good quality for a cheaper mic. I use it for my podcast as well and people ask me all the time how much was it, they are very surprised
would you recommend this for a podcast conversation of two people? or will one person be blended out due to the dynamic function? thank you great video
don't, you'd have to pass mics
Can you use two of these microphones at once? I wanna do youtube videos with a friend give us both our own mics.
Congratulations 1.22 million subscribers
Which is better..Dynamic or Condenser mic? Just for youtube videos and streaming. Should i have some sort of headset or dont need one.
What is the best laptop or distop for steam yard for live stream pls im waiting for your reply
This mic worked really well for my podcast until it broke. The on off switch is really tricky and hard to move. I was trying so hard to get it to turn on that I broke the switch and the whole mic was done. If you get this mic, just leave the switch on.
Thank you
How to get the sound of your microphone in the video with this Samson one?
Is this also suitable for recording singing vocals?
