When Nik Nocturnal interviewed Phil recently.. Phil said a couple songs in the studio almost made Phil pass out because he was going so hard. Album should be nuts.
Phil took a lil break and explored some new sounds (which I loved) but now he’s taking the throne back :)

Phil and the boys never left, they were just doing experimental stuff. With that being said, it feels like Phil got tired of these punks thinking they're "the king" or whatever and said "Alright, children, listen up" lmao. As a vocalist myself, this single song taught me so much. Great video, Mark. The one true king sits upon his throne once more.
Also: the drummer in this video/song is now their new drummer who was last in the band Enterprise Earth. Brandon is a monster on the kit.

After 20 years of listening to metal, I think I'm finally to do the Whitechapel deep dive. I took a very long road to get to deathcore and I am loving this track. It is NASTY.
This is Exile is a good place to start if youre coming from a death metal background, its closest to this vibe (Till the new album is out at least!)

The thing I’ve always loved and admired about Phil’s vocals is his annunciation. Vocals are brutal and also easy to understand what he’s actually screaming
This song had me making excited goblin sounds of my own pretty quickly. It's truly a masterclass of what can be done with as close to perfect technique as you can realistically get in the style. Reminds us why Bozeman was the GOAT for years, and still is.

@@LUCID.EZ.7 im not gonna lie… kublai khan might have been my favorite set… i really dont listen to them in the car but DAMN matt honeycutt can move a crowd! Whitechapel was my second favorite set. Lorna is so fast and extreme with so much going on at once, that in a live setting it kind of just becomes a blended wall of sound. That said, o sleeping dreamer and to the hell fire were still amazing to see live.

Anybody else feel somewhat “disappointed” that Phil wasn’t using the harsh highs from the Valley like when he does “the demons dance by the fire side” in When A Demon Defiles A Witch? Don’t know why, but they sounded so amazing to me

The vocal gymnastics have gotten really old and annoying. The guys who started it, (cj with signs of the swarm/lorna shore with death portrait, and Dickie allan infant annihilator)
But with this song, Phil isn't trying to make a bunch of wacky noises. He is using his vocals to benefit the song. Phil Bozeman is genuinely the best deathcore vocalist. He can also sing incredibly well. Phil-deathcore landon-metalcore.
Agree about senseless vocal gymnastics that don't necessarily benefit the songs getting annoying. But who is landan?

Agreed. The stupid cliché breakdowns to end a song with the vocalist doing their gymnastics.. I like all spans and try to keep an open mind, but it’s the equivalent to noodling on the guitar. Never really adds to the song.

I have been working on my vocals for a little over 2 years, and Phil is the closest vocal range/style I can emulate. Issue I have is, my vocals work as inhales rather than exhales...do you suggest i purchase some coaching? Really want that heavy belt!!!
