      I don't often write comments directly to channels but you mentioned something about Poppy and black metal and just now I again came across this video of her with her favourite albums:
      ua-cam.com/video/zOzsteNBYNU/v-deo.html

    The way they incorporate the “Cumbia” rhythm is so good. The build up the the breakdown previews the groove. Then the breakdown hits fully. The post breakdown keeps the rhythm but instead of multiple notes, it’s a single chuggier version. And then they transition to the end of the song back to a more hardcore style rhythm.
    This is why knocked loose are so great - they’re heavy and they’re angry, AND they’re great songwriters!

    Poppy did a song with HEALTH that has some more atmospheric screaming in it. It's mostly soft, haunting clean vocals, but the bridge has her doing screams that are longer and more sorrowful than what she's doing here and it's pushed a bit further back in the mix. I think it's great and could really go for a lot more of it.
    I'd really like to hear Knocked Loose collab with some more female hardcore/metalcore vocalists because the two occasions they've done it (this and A Serpent's Touch w/ Emma from Dying Wish) have been stellar. There's just a slight difference in male and female vocals, even when doing the same style, that makes for great contrast.

    You're the only one I've seen pick up that small whine at the end of Poppy's longer sustained scream. I heard it on the first listen and was like, "ffffffffffuh....😮". You got a new subscriber my dude. 👍👍

    that technique you mentioned around 16:30 where she drops the grittiness off at the end of a scream is really neat, and the singer for Silent Planet does it a LOT.

    I gotta start with a “thank you” to Poppy, who has 3M subs on UA-cam music compared to knocked loose with barely 30K. She may have just put KL on the radar of a bunch of people who’s didn’t know the band existed.
    Great song, I like the steady fast paced stuff better, but really good. Most anticipated album after Benighted.

      Idk how many hardcore Poppy fans would actually like knocked loose though. I'd say the ones who do, already liked KL before the feature with her.

      @cbs785 21 день тому +2

      @setoburu Lol "a bunch of nobodies" I can guarantee you most Knocked Loose fans feel the same way about Poppy. I've never heard of her before this song. You act like she's some huge figure. Her screams are trash too. So many more talented female metal vocalists out there than whatever that garbage was.

    Poppy is so cool. Her enthusiasm with metal is so real, and this cannot be said about all pop/rap artists that have been influenced by metal.
    This is the first video I see from you, so Idk how any of this works, but I'd love to hear your thoughts about Banshee. She's an independent alternative artist and her musical roots are in metal. Lamb of God and Arch Enemy are her biggest inspirations, she used Melissa Cross's videos to learn how to scream and her music, which she describes as "fairy metal" is a combination of black metal, trap, witch house and hyperpop. I think she's gonna be the inspiration for many female metal vocalists in the future and that she has had and continues to have a true impact on the underground metal scene.
    For context, I just turned 32 and have been a metalhead since I was 11. I live in Finland.

    i like people noticing the latin beat breakdown, but another thing that's really cool is the dance beat on drums beforehand. it's the same sort of thing on The Wretchedness Inside by Trivium.
