    The space holder was the key. 45 seconds after insertion and locking the tensioner arm, and the new belt was on correctly and, upon removal of the tool, tension restored to it. For those looking for a spacer tool in their tool boxes, I found that the long end of the tool used for adjusting the star wheel on the rear drum brakes on these, and other vehicles, may be the perfect size and shape. I have acquired two of these tools over the years, and found that one was perfect and that one was about a millimeter too wide. Thanks again for this video and the tip I have seen no where else.

    Btw on my 2009 f150 fx4, the bottom.of the fan shroud unfastened s, and it flip up on a pivot to get it out of the way so you can easily access the lower part of the serpentine belt system.

    Thanks! Your pointer on the spacer/holder was a key detail. After placing the new belt, I did have to push the breaker bar a bit more to get the belt onto the alternator.

    There was no easy way for me to reach my 1/2" extension on the pulley in order to loosen the belt. After numerous attempts I discovered I could reach this from below, having an assistant handle the belt. This was on a 2007 Ford Expedition.

    when i tried to bypass my a/c pulley the belt won't go around tje idler pulley there feels like a bur or metal underneath it so the belt don't slid around it

    It would have been nice if Ford had designed the tensioner so there was space between the back of its pulley & the block.Then the belt could be turned sideways & slid behind the pulley instead of having to pinch one end of it together then squeezing it between the tensioner & block.What a pain.If I remove the 3 bolts from the bracket that holds the tensioner to the block,that won't cause the tensioner spring to uncoil will it??

    For the past 57 min I have been trying just to get the braker bar in that damn square hole and is a pain in the a$$. The tensioner is too tight making it too difficult to get done. my belt is already rip almost in half. I paid someone to Change it and I trusted that the job was done and it wasn't. Now I have to do it, can't trust no one today.

    The 2001 Navigator won't start... Battery, alternator, starter,...every fuse, relay, and diode checked! Doesn't seem to have enough power to turn the engine over. Could the tention be too tight on the serpentine belt? I just changed one, a/c pulley wheel FUBAR! It's the only thing not checked.

      If you can pull back the tensioner it's OK. Make sure the engine physically turns over. I would then make sure the full battery plus voltage is getting to the starter with a voltmeter. Something could be pulling it down. Good luck, that's a toughie.

      The Original Mechanic now they say it's the antenna ring preventing a start. The theft light is flashing...

    • @kg4boj
      @kg4boj 6 років тому

      Theft light flashing it's ALWAYS a PATS issue and you'll need to call a locksmith and not a mechanic, mechanics are good for swapping parts but when it comes to computers leave it to us locksmiths unless you want them to throw parts at it for a month then give up.
