I adore the Cayden is not a zealot, unlike even other good gods. He's the god of alcohol! Weeey! ... But also of overcoming addiction. He's loves prostitutes! Weeey! ... And treating them with decency and respect. He says we should all have a good time! Weeey! ... But never at the expense of others, as we have a duty to do the right thing whever we can. His core tenants is basically 'be chill dude' and he means it.
Yeah, not sure why he’d be included as one of the “lesser gods” - he’s one of the core 20 - but I’m looking forward to watching this video to find out why Mythkeeper categorized him this way.
I really have a soft spot for Kurgess, mostly for the comedic potential his priests allow. I imagine everytime there is a good natured competition, they just pop up out of nowhere to act as judges and/or commentators. Usually accompanied by the pillarmen theme.
I think I prefer these to the main deities. In the sense that while I can think of ways to fit some of the main Gods to character concepts I already have, several of these Gods make me want to make characters around them. A paladin of Cayden, or a cleric of Kurgess or Besmara all sound like great fun.
My favorite piece of lore about Gorum is the fact that his priests ask those who want to join them, "Will you fight?" Not "Can you fight," but "WILL you fight?" In other words, do you have the desire and force of will to fight?
If I lived in the Pathfinder universe I'd either be a follower of Sarenrae or Cayden. No matter which faith would be my "main faith" I'd also certainly pray from time to time to the other god quite frequently. Desna too since she is also shares the forgivness aspect with Sarenrae(though I think Sarenrae is most likely to take up arms if there is no possibility of redemption than Desna) and the wanderlust and freedom with Cayden.
Great videos, I've learned so much that I can incorporate into my games! I noticed that the chart in this video is slightly different from the chart in your first Pathfinder Religion Guide video. You replaced Chaldira with Grandmother Spider, and you replaced Ulon with Mahathallah. Any particular reasons for those two changes? The Ulon to Mahathallah changes makes sense to me, since Ulon isn't even given a footnote in Gods and Magic, but Chaldira and Grandmother Spider are both given a decent amount of content in that book, so I'm wondering what made you pick one of them over the other and over all the other ones in the book that aren't on the chart (Arazni, Casandalee, Nocticula, etc.).
Yeah, you basically figured this out yourself. I originally drew those up for 1st ediion, but I found myself altering the gods I emphasized for my games as we transitioned to the new books and the game seemed to be emphasizing other gods. Good catch!
Here it is sir - imgur.com/a/wSyYxiM - and if you're planning to share on Reddit, would certainly appreciate if you could link out to the videos as well. 🙏
Your Videos are awesome! But sadly you left out some of the mercyful side of Gorum. As in you should accept the surrender of enemys, and never kill them or other prisoners. Surrendering is honorable, and it enables them to fight another day (for gorum). That is the part that sold me on this unique deity, and led to my mighty Warpriest of Gorum, Slayer of Demons and Children alike. (The children insisted on fighting, and he would never deny them their wish for honorable death in battle)
That's a really fun character concept, and you're right, there's a lot more to say on Gorum, he's a really fun deity. If you check out my Outer Planes: The Heavens video I talk a little bit about Gorum's divine domain there as well and you might find that interesting.
Aye. I was happy to see during a WotR playthrough that he writers gave opportunities for followers of Gorum to be kind in victory. When fighting Ciar’s squire, I had not only an extra chance to attack with our mutual understand if Gorum, but after? I had a Gorum-specific option to honestly say that he’ll be feasting in the halls of Elysium. The game even said that he died with a tooth-baring smile and fire in his eyes. I’ve had the Fang of Malice on my back ever since.
So there is a god for that lizardfolk wrestler I've been working on Kurgess is perfect. Dammit I went from having no real idea what to play in pathfinder too having too many damn ideas.
It’s believed that those two elevated him to godhood, and them being his parents is one of at least two theories on why they did so (another being they were just super impressed with him).
@@Mystra Then I think it depends what Mythic path you choose. These are all celestial gods, but you can also become a demon god, a devil god, or even an aeon (or monitor god). Hehe! Fun times!
Hey, I'm also a brother in iron and Gorum is a personal favorite. The most violent god of the Heavens, yes please! Not lesser in terms of power certainly, but maybe not as important in the context of the creation of the world.
There are a lot of explicitly anti-slavery Gods in Pathfinder, did the history of the world begin with such widespread systemic slavery that the Gods had to take action?
Our world had a lot of widespread, systemic, slavery too, tbh! The fact that our gods didn't seem as bothered by it probably says more about the context in which our real-world religions developed in than it does about the fictional religions of Pathfinder. ;-)
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear - all the god info is canon. Its just the organizational system is not canon. The individual details on the gods are all accurate.

"Party hard but most importantly, party with love" - Cayden probably
I can see The Dude as a cleric of Cayden Cailean
A non evil aligned spider godess is a welcome surprise.
Cayden Cailean is the absolute most amazing god ever created for fiction tbh

Another one wellput together thank you for sharing all this information very knowledgeable

Excellent presentation, I learned a bit I didn’t know about these awesome Pathfinder deities. Thank you!
Ok. My next character is a Drunken Master monk who worships Cayden Cailean.
That sounds great! And thanks for watching!
I can hear Irori wince already 😂
Love these videos so much, looking forward to next week! Just showed our GM this channel and he loves it too 😊
Gorum the Khorne of the Pathfinder world.
Blood for the blood god!
More great stuff!
Great video!
Great video friend! You should be a narrator, you just got that interesting voice!
I love the lore
Well done!!!!
Coming back to comment on the War of Immortal reveal. Gotta learn all I can now!
Haha yeah good time to brush up on lore
@@TheMythkeeper I was convinced that Iomadae or Abadar was going to die honestly!
Miliani: Viva la Revolution! :D
Cayden is a lesser god? He's really punching above his weight then, because he's laid low some major goddesses.
While i think of him as same class as Iomedae. Kinda fitting that he'll punch above his weight.
It depends on how much he is drunk
"They let me hit cuz I'm goofy" apparently goes for deities as well
Hey, the Lucky Hero has always had great skill with his sword

Yes of course, I'll find a place to upload it and I'll give you a link this evening.

Ironic that gorum death is the cause of the war of immortals. Biggest fight that never be able to fight in
I could be sorrowfully mistaken, but wasn't Kurgess the child of Desna and Cailean? Interesting guy either way.
It’s believed that those two elevated him to godhood, and them being his parents is one of at least two theories on why they did so (another being they were just super impressed with him).
Yeah, could be!
Is this what we can become in a certain crpg secret ending? Its abit unclear what kinda deity you become
Are you referring to Wrath of the Righteous?
@@TheMythkeeper yeah

@TheMythKeeper Ah that's so cool! I really love these games and the lore of Pathfinder is so cool too
Cayden is my first and foremost patron deity, but Melani, Iomedae and Sarenrae are always gods my characters pray to or,at least visit the temples of
BLOOD FOR GORUM!

Do Planar cosmology, please.
That's a great topic to cover! I'll get there.

Milani = Jone of Arc
Half-Orcs get no love by having a deity while Half-elves get one in Milani. Even Tieflings have Ragathiel to turn to. Boo! Dev bias!
Rip to Gorum 💔 you would've loved the war of immortals
He would surely have loved swinging his big sword into a bunch of immortals
So basically Kurgess God of the Gym?
Hehe, yeah
