Manipulating information is just as bad as lying. Data should always be relayed fully and unaltered for it to be considered truth. Also there is a thing as lying by omission. Also they will all make dishonest contracts. The only way to stop that dishonesty is by actually knowing their rules and laws better than they do. There is nothing honest about hell. Outside of the fact that they function on contracts and agreements. So staying away from devils usually should be safer than dealing with demons. But while demons might lie. They are all completely honest about being demons. They all fully admit their selfish desires and are even more likely to just do good without expectations for thanks or rewards. Simply to spite another demon. Or a good god that might be forced to show they will stop the good the demon was doing for the mortal, showing the good god as a petty selfish being that doesn't want "evil beings" to reward their followers. The only ones I'd trust to be completely honest but completely useless in dealing with less than rigid rules are the aeons and anyone on the axiomatic planes.
Not seriously, of course. Norgorber doesn't come up much, but I did once have a villain in a game I was running who was an inquisitor of Norgorber and worked out to be quite the problem for the party, and Korvosa.
This a great video, I really like the way you sort the Gods. My one thing I'd criticise is calling Hellknights Asmodeans though, they only emulate Hells Order, they don't owe it any actual fealty. Order of the God claw is the only exception and even then he is worshipped alongside 4 other Lawful Gods
I'm not sure I totally agree. I do think that they don't 'worship' Asmodeus in a conventional sense, but they definitely are in some kind of contractual relationship with him. Otherwise they would not be able to use divine magic - which has to come from somewhere. I think for Asmodeus they were kind of a 'trial-run' of meddling in human affairs, with the final version of it being his relationship with House Thrune - but I also might be reading into the lore a bit here.
@@TheMythkeeper the members who use Divine Magic amongst the Hellknights often do worship Asmodeus I believe, being Chelaxians a lot of them are also Asmodeans but its not a requirement. Any Lawful god can also work provided at least in 2e their Edicts and Anathema wouldn't forbid them from doing so. I'm really hoping for a Knights of Lastwall style sourcebook for them for 2e eventually because the Hellknights are one of my favourite parts of the setting
@@coreystrohfeldt5373 Totally makes sense, yes, you can be a Hellknight without worshipping Asmodeus by simply adhering to the tenents, but not if you plan to be a divine caster. I think I will do a whole video just on Hellknights at some point in the future when I get around to doing factions. I'll keep this in mind.
As a new GM whos struggling to find and acquire all the information about golarion I have to Say your Channel Is such a precious resource. Keep It up man! In some of next video I'd love to see you talking about the River Kingdom as It Is One of my favourite region and id like to start a campaign there
I will shamelessly steal (and credit) your way of categorizing the gods once I get around to running Pathfinder 2e for my group. Such a cool idea. Also, before I watch this video, Norgorber is my favorite evil deity. I've always liked the idea of a god that who's portfolios held the ideas of Greed, murder, poision, and secrets. The fact that he's so paranoid about people knowing anything about his identity that he'll deliberately mess up artists renditions by causing them blindness or causing lifelong tremors in their hands is pretty freaky. We'll see if that changes at all by the end of this.
@@TheMythkeeper Finished it. I hadnt heard of Urgathoa before. That's one terrifying godess. Honestly I hadn't heard of a lot of these gods. Your videos help me appreciate the work that went into crafting Golarion. Thanks for making these videos! For the record, Norgorber is still the god I'm most excited to use in my games, but now I have a better understanding of how to integrate the other gods into the world.
Almost at 1K subscribers, glad to be able to say I was in the under 1000 club. Don't play much TTRPGs myself (more of a video game guy), but I love learning about the lore of different worlds.
If I had to choose a triumvirate of evil gods for a PC i'd probably choose Asmodeus, Norgorber, and some Old god from the Dark Tapestry (for that extra spice of randomness) Thanks for the video!
You wouldn't be wrong to picture the power structure of Cheliax being comprised entirely of Frollos. However its probably worth noting that its a really big country and not everyone worships Asmodeus - especially among the underclass. Some people are just stuck living there.
Hey do you have credits/links for some of the like b-roll art you use? I’ve seen a couple now I’d love to use as custom portraits in the Pathfinder crpgs
I've been asked about this before, and because of my production schedule (I make these videos weekly) and because of the enormous amount of art I pull into these videos from deviantart, artstation and pinterest to cut these videos together, the labor of cataloging all the art used is too high for me right now, though I wish I had the bandwidth to track all art to its source and appropriately credit the artist. One thing you may be able to do is screenshot the video, and then use the image screenshotted to 'search-by-image' in Google and turn up the original higher-res file. Or just know that pretty much all my art comes from those three places (deviantart, artstation or pinterest) so if you search hard enough there you will definitely turn up all my art eventually.
I'm really enjoying your series, but please time your images to the sound better. There are a number of times where the images displayed are of beings similar looking to the being that you're discussing. During your discussion of Asmodeus you had an image of Mephistopheles, and some huge yellow guy with a sword (I'm not familiar with that image, but it's definitely not Asmodeus). Likewise the image you showed during the discussion of Zura's true form definitely isn't Zura because it has a separate set of wings and arms, while, as you mention at exactly the point in the video where the image comes up, Zura's wings are attached to her arms. This has the potential to cause confusion among people who are coming here to learn the lore. I'm still going to recommend these videos to my players and party members, but now I feel like I have to make footnotes. 🙃
But lorewise Baphomet and Zura aren't gods, they're demigods. As cool as they are, they aren't stronger/more important than the other demon lords. Also, fun fact - Mahathallah in hebrew means a prank or a joke.
The way how you put all this together about Pathfinder evil gods I'm loving it like a fat kid that loves cake my name is Kenneth from Camden New Jersey
This is extremely petty of me, but I've always found it hard to take Norgorber seriously because I feel his name just sounds silly 😂 It sounds in my mind equivalent to having this dark, mysterious god of murder and secrets but then naming him Dingdong or Bippityboppity
That's correct, there's only one canon image of Zura and she's very crouched and hard to see so I picked a different image. In general with my videos, if official PF art is not available I'll pick alternatives. Do keep in mind that when it comes to gods and demigods they all have the divine ability to present in many different forms even if they have a preference for one or another.
The way I portray Asmodeus is that he never lies he may withhold information or use clever words but never outright lies.
I like that
That's what the devil always does.

After all, why bother lying when the truth will do the work for you?
"A Concordance of Rivals" corroborates Asmodeus' story. Pharasma created the first 2 souls in the new reality... Asmodeus and his brother.
Due to Norgorber's kind of tripartite nature my friends and I like to say that he's actually three halflings in a trench coat.
This is great ;-)

It’s always a good day when I can hear the Mythkeeper’s dulcet tones talk about Golarian.
😊
