#ToyotaTacoma #4thGenTacoma #TruckReview @toyota - Авто та транспорт
But is it specifically built and designed to get you to your destination, and back home safely, whether it is new, or has 250,000 miles, like the previous gens? Former engineer mike sweers always said that.
Yes it is - they have built them to last
Even at 300k miles
@@bobdavis3357 if you do the proper maintenance and don’t abuse it, there’s no reason why It shouldn’t last that long
Thank you! I have watched almost all of the initial reviews and this review allowing the chief engineer explain trims/features was above and beyond the most informative on the new Tacoma.
Wow Lauren you blew the other reviews out of the water with Sheldon helping you. Thank for this fantastic review of the new Tacoma!
Definitely!
Nice truck! since ford just dropped a pride commercial with a rainbow painted ranger raptor, I’ll definitely be getting a trail hunter tocoma… I do not support mental disorders.
That ad will not help Ford - stay out of politics
That guy is a huge taco fan and he likes Tacoma too
Thanks for keeping the manual transmission!! Your description of the earlier clutch pedal feel and why most owners removed the accumulator. I'm so glad you brought your thoughts and listened to customers into the redesigned Tacoma, including the manual trans upgrade up front instead of afterthought. Love the new design all around, body, the coil rear suspension, redesigned interior, and the fuel door release button.
Thankyou for doing this segment. The Trail Hunter and all 3 TRD trim levels are way more truck than I need though. With the economy, inflation and sloth like increases in rate of pay, I hope a segment strictly on the SR trim level is coming too. A truck just being a truck is still needed by so many. A platform without all the extra gizmos, bells and whistles, for work, towing and regular commuting that will last 200k+ miles is what so many of us every day Joe's need. Toyota still remains what so many other manufacturers try to be. Thanks again.
Love this channel..! Great job 👏🏻
Love the video! Thanks for sharing. These trucks are so cool!!
I wish he commented on the frame and how they improved the rust problem. How do you think the turbo will last?
🔥🔥 Got my PRO ON ORDER! 🔥🔥
Did you get the cool seats too?
@CarCoachReports I. Love my 2015 off-road. But, backbreaking on long trips. I hope this new Taco will fix it.
@@CarCoachReports those rear seats on the pro are going to cut into rear seat leg room, which is already short as it is
Great information!!
I would wait a couple of model years on this for them to work out the new model kinks and also for the supply issue to subside.
I may roll the dice, but you could be on to something. In 1990 I bought the new 2nd generation 4Runner, and it had some major issues. Head gaskets were all immediately replaced on recall, and the front axel spindles had to be replaced if you lived in a cold climate. (I hope they did cold weather testing on this truck somewhere)
Or you could not wait because it comes with a warranty. Then buy a newer one after two years.
@@williamconrad1087 Maybe people dont want to go through the hassle of taking their car in to get fixed.
There's no supply shortage.
Other OEMs are over producing vehicles.
Toyota knows how to keep the msrp high by using the supply shortage excuse.
Their market share is shrinking from their greed.
No need to wait for the kinks to be worked out. The history shows, Toyota always brought the best to the market. You wait and price will increase 10% every year you wait.
Watching from Philippines
Toyota Number 1
Nice work as always
Thank you!
Excellent Interview, Thank you
Thanks 😊
Great content, Sheldon seems like a really cool dude and the truck looks like it has a lot of great features and has a great aesthetic to boot!
He was so enthusiastic and a great guy. Had to get him on camera.
Yeah, Shel' sid really cool here.
I am a car guy, never like truck, but this Toyota changed my mind. It's Gorgeous.
I agree - this is a cool truck!
I'm just going to say, I admire your restraint at releasing this at the proper time.
The hybrid option takes away the mpg guilt I've felt about Tacomas and Tundras.
its not for MPGs, its really for more power.
Not sitting in the shop with a tacoma for repairs makes up for the mpg
Thank you! Wanted to get this interview for people to get even more details.
@@CarCoachReports that guy was great. Did you get a chance to sit in those TRD seats? Would they be comfortable for extended periods? They looked supportive but rigid.
@@janetairlines1351 Amen to that!
Being a previous Tacoma TRD owner, now Tundra. I’m soooo IMPRESSED and looking forward to the TRD Pro/Trail Hunter w/manual transmission. The ‘22 Tundra didn’t raise by my hair like this 4th gen Tacoma.
It was truly impressive - they brought their A-game
the 23 tundra was all new, including the modern, rear coil suspension.🎉
I'm happy that Sheldon is free do the review and mentions the full time 4WD, I've watched many other reviews, and most if not all the reviewers don't even mention it, and even one read the switch completely wrong, didn't even know what he was talking about. Many people don't understand the difference between part time and full time 4wd or what center diff locking is. It is literally one of the things that is completely underrated, and we finally for the first time get a full time system on the truck models from Toyota. It is very helpful if you live up in the hills in mixed road conditions and I'd say it's superior to GMs Computer Controlled auto 4wd because it's a mechanical Torsen style differential. Its not like the multi mode system like the 4Runner has where you can go 2wd or 4wd with center diff lock, but I'll take what I can get. I hope Toyota does better to educate their customers on these systems, like manufacturers used to way back in the 60s-70s. The leaded fuel didn't help the overall IQ of the population, but people aren't dumb.
I hope they sell a lot of the limited trim, god I really hope it comes in a 6 foot bed though.
Edit: Just noticed limited trim didn't have locking rear diff, hope its got a LSD rear at least.
Beautiful detail review 👍
Thank you!
He is the man, behind , and the team!!!
Great video. Thanks. I’m torn between keeping my 22 Pro MT vs trading for Sport or OR MT. I think I’ll wait until they get the kinks worked out. It sure looks like there a lot of tech things that can break versus the simplicity of the 3rd gen
understood but they took their time to do it right
Yes to the 3 pedals
Great review, in depth, & worth the watch. Not sure if the Heated Steering Wheel or Heated Seats are offered or in what trim level, but other than that, the competition will need to look out, Tacoma is about to take it up a few more notches!
We were not given many details - but it will be released soon.
Glad to see a new chief engineer.
Love the video. Is the full time 4wd only on the hybrid or can I get that on the gas only limited
😊
Please bring back Army Green.
Can you ask if Toyota is doing anything to prevent dealerships from forcing customers to pay above MSRP? That is the reason my wife bought Subaru Ascent over the Highlander. The dealerships in oklahoma were adding $1500-2500$ for nitrogen in the tires and floor mats 😢. If I price a vehicle online, I should expect to pay that price in a dealership.
Thanks.
Wow, they did totally redesign the Tacoma. I’m sure they will sell a ton of them but I have to say that I kind of miss the reliable simplicity of the older Tacos. These high tech features are what the current market demands.
These are going to be super popular
Hi
Other option for the Red seats on the TrdPro?
And the Limited..do they have a black optic option? I like the truck but not with chrome 😁
In the future share what comes on a SR version. I can't afford any of which you showed
Wow! Isodynamic Performance Seat, nice
Where is the driver side grab handle? Did the engineers forgot that again? We lost the handle since 2016 model 😢
I wanted to get an alu cab, so i wonder if the trailhunter is the way to go or get an offroad and upgrade all the suspension 🤔
I would have to do a lot of research on which one is best for me. I am unsure of the all wheel drive.
Nice looking truck. Trucks like the Tacoma look like full sized trucks now.
where is the trd off road trim? is it still coming out?
How much will the Taco TRD off road w/ a manual transmission be? $$$ Estimate says 38k, but you've got USED 3rd Gens, talkin the SR5 and O/Rs in the mid to high 40's right now, with plenty of mileage on them, yet are priced higher than what the supposed new prices of the 24 will be. How dose that even make sense? Insane.
Wonder if any of these new trucks will accept a winch without covering the front radar sensor. Is there a stop/start switch with the regular engine. Finally spotted the front tow hooks. Really enjoyed the Head Engineer Sheldon walk around on the various trucks. He really is a knowledgeable person.
I have a winch on my current Toyota. I guess I’ll leave it to the aftermarket engineers to figure it out. That was about my first concern as well. Perhaps some kind of hideaway integrated winch will work?
@@NorthPaddle The only type of winch I have come up with is a portable type that uses straps, cable or chain to connect it to the front or rear tow hooks. Kind of a half-ass setup but does alright. I would think Warn would be the first to produce and mount for the new Tacoma. See a lot of Badlands winches as well as Super winch models. Please let me know if you find a permanent mount style. Thanks!
What I'm not entirely clear on is the extended 6-foot I'm assuming 6ft bed only available in one configuration can you get it on the Limited?
There are 3 configurations - so you can get the long or short bed
Is the 6’ bed available with 6spd manual? Not with the current gen. Hope Toyota changed that in the new gen
with all this redesign, still could not add a in molded step up into the side of truck int stepping up into the bed.
Love the video, what’s the name of his UA-cam channel?
Hello. So is there a 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter 4X4 Longbed that's been manufactured yet?
I like the size of the bed and all the interior high tech. Don’t like the turbos. Wished they kept the V6 with the SR and SR5 trims on top of the 2.4L Turbo engines. My 2022 SR5 MGM RWD has the fog lights so I’m glad I got the 2022
Any info on the allowable payload for the different trim levels?
Not released yet
What's that lip plastic thing underneath the truck.
I've been looking at many reviews on the new Tacoma and the setup on the Trailhunter really caught my eye. Right away, I noticed the sunroof. I'm a For guy and lost interest in the new Ranger as soon as I saw still no sunroof or ventilated seats. I never thought a Toyota would ever interest me until I saw this. Then it happened. I watched the TFL review and they stated the Traihunter won't have that sunroof when you go to buy one, HUH??? You mean I'd need to buy a lower trim to get a desirable option? The Limited looks promising if it was offered with a blackout package instead of the chrome. Also, the one with the funky seat.
If I can get a TRD sport in auto hybrid with xtra cab no rear seats im in.
Great truck but I'm more concerned about that engineer, I'm so glad he made it 2 the end. I'll take the guy 2 my 🏋️♂️
Was thinking the same...
Ordered the PRO and we're getting a pre runner for the shop
Very smart choice
@@CarCoachReports we still have our 03 pre with RWD and locked dif, smash plates. JD won't get rid of it, 203k miles. Body's like new. We maintain our fleet and this one is special to the hog(JD, he owns a lot of Harleys and we call him Hog for it).
Well now that Ford has omitted the Ranger Tremor from its line up I’ll be looking at buying Tacoma TRD PRO for my next truck. Great review
Thank you - there is a Ranger Raptor
@@CarCoachReports Oh I’m aware of that but I’m also aware of the price tag. For my off roading needs the Ranger Tremor was perfect and the price tag was reasonable
Ranger Tremor will likely return at a later date. With some of the things I've been seeing, Ranger Raptor will be a waste of time for most except those with connections and or deep pockets. Everyone else will need to wait 2-3 years.
Hi Head Engineer, Why is a rear AC vent not an option in any of the Tacoma models?
I'll ask
Major miss.
So I'm looking at this and the new Ranger and unfortunately the new Ford Ranger also does not have rear ac vents
Love pretty much everything about this truck except - and I may be the only one here to say this - I hate the trend towards the large control screens and adding so many controls to it. That screen goes out or gets glitchy, you’re screwed. And, expensive to replace (and procure). I love good ol’ switches for individual functions. One goes out, the truck is still functional and my local mechanic can fix it. This is more in keeping with the durability, function, and longevity for which Toyota is known.
But, that’s me. I just like my stuff to work and minimal hassle to maintain and repair.
Will the sport be available with a six foot bed?
Yes
55th thumbs up. The Tacoma is the best mid sizer around. Up to 317hp/465 lb ft with mild hybrid
You would like this truck especially the TRD PRO
@@CarCoachReports absolutely the TRD PRO!
unlike the cheap made junk being peddled by Ford and GM.....😮
@@CarCoachReports honestly if the Trd off-road version came with ventilated seats, I wouldn’t need the Trd pro.
I will stick with the TRD PRO, not a limited
I hate manual transmissions and clutches, the automatic one which I have in my Tacoma is so cool and convenient. Would like to see the brand new Tacoma sport in auto transmission and 6 ft bed, not the 5 ft which is too small. Beautiful dark blue truck you got there.
It is offered with a 5 or 6 foot bed. The manual has a button to make is an automatic too. Watch the video
@@CarCoachReports I mean fully automatic, no clutch at all, thanks
I want a pro in silver and black 👍
We want the TRD Pro look with 3 pedals! #savethemanuals #toyotadidit
Great video would love to see the 6 foot bed cut to 5.5 feet and give that 6 inches to the rear seat area. Otherwise, a great looking Ford Ranger killer😂
The Trail Hunter and TRD Pro look great but what is the huge plastic piece hanging from the front on every other model? I’m sure it’s for aerodynamics but wow does it make it ugly.
Will it carry plywood flat?
The body work is wider, but a great question.
Man this Tacoma PRO seems to be better in some ways than the new tundra PRO
Its super capable - we will be driving them in October
Trailhunter will be the biggest seller.
Now if only i could afford one. Toyota going to stop the unethical dealer markup baloney?
dealers bribed state lawmakers, so franchise laws shield them. only available help comes from FTC regs, and makers using allocation to deal with stealer dealers.👺🙆
Love the truck, hate the big screen
I can’t wait until 2035 when I can afford a used one of these with 250,000 miles and rust through out. I’ll still need to finance it for 72 months and get a co-signer for the loan. But, at least I’ll finally get one of those sweet man-step bumpers.
Wait...it is not electrified?
High speed spoiler? You mean there's a function for that lip at the end of the cab?! It kinda ruins the side profile!!! Just picking knits!
Loving the utility and look of the trailhunter but mostly all i heard was cha ching cha ching in my head. Im betting the price points will be ridiculous.
No prices yet - we shall see
That huge plastic air dam looks terrible. I bet most people will remove it even if it means losing a couple MPG. thanks Lauren as always!
It looks like it would scrape on the road!
Loosen 9 Bolts and the air dam is removable 😮
Back seat space still lousy. Give an inch!
Unreal this wasn't addressed and changed for the remodel.
I don’t want a turbo Taco. Going with forced induction, Toyota ditched the best feature of the Taco: longevity. Will they provide a 200k powertrain warranty? Of course not. They know the turbo engine is not built to last.
Wish it was matte black and not high gloss
Unfortunately the back seat is so tiny. It has no leg room. That is a deal breaker.😢
HUGE mistake on the redesign. Everyone has been asking for it. I couldn't care less about the fancy tailgate if I can comfortably fit 2 kids in the back (with car seat). Hard pass.
I understand where you’re coming from. That’s why I own a Tundra Crewmax and keep it for room and towing but will still buy a Tacoma for off-roading.
That’s why you buy a Tundra. Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado and Frontier are not for family truck haulers. The only one I say is decent for a family hauler is a Honda Ridgeline and that’s really not in the same category as the other midsize pickup trucks because it’s really a Pilot with a bed.
@@joeytakach7131 honda isn't even in the same area code or class as toyota, much less the same zip code or top class...🤣
@@jrs9264 that why I was referring to it as a pilot with a bed.
All that torque and it tows less than my 2011 TRD or my 2017 Limited. Man, I love everything else but that is so disappointing.
no front lock option on any grade !!!
I think the Trailhunter and TRD PRO has it but no data given to us
@@CarCoachReports not what I am hearing. Hopefully you are correct.
huge fail not offering the Pro with access cab and HUGE FAIL to discontinue the access cab suicide doors..... not all of us want 4 doors and a short bed. 6ft bed is needed for us motorcycle haulers and need for bigger items and no need for passengers !!! i'm dissapointed how Toyota can bring in all these features and neglect so many as well .
A beautiful truck all around with a not very good engine.
Not a fan of red interior. Its too distracting. Would've love to have the option to choose different color interior seat. Not a fan of short bed either. To me that just defeat the purpose of having a truck bed that barely holds anything other then 1 large cooler. Long bed should be offer as an option for those that prefer crew cab long bed.
there are two more feature this truck doesnt do! It needs self driving mode and airplane mode to fly!
I think i never watched a detailed review without the person getting in the car, it gives a sensation something is wrong with the car… feels really weird
4 banger turbo , no thanks !
ugh. power running boards.. digital dash.. wish they would have left a few things unchainged and kept it simple. love the new lcd display , that red is butt ugly. TRD is the perfect ride, but I can only imagine the $$$$
Optional power running boards
@@CarCoachReports yeah but... no more physical needles for the speed and rpm? Sad. oh well.
Diesel 4 cylinder would fit perfectly.
diesels are smelly and dirty.....💩💥🤮
What ever happened to simple functional trucks? I will not buy a new Tacoma!I own a 04 TRD and I truly love it to this day. These trucks are to big and have way to many electronic gadgets for me to even consider.
🏴🥃📡🥃🇺🇸
👍🇺🇲
Who knew that Chris Farley is still alive and now works for Toyota?
Love the truck but I have no use for full time 4WD so that one’s out. The only reason it’s made that way is to increase the profit margin!
Very glad to see the driving position has changed from the go cart style seating position to a more standard style seating position. That’s the thing that has kept me from buying a Tacoma in the past.
Love the overall design except those air dams!.they look like they were an after thought, they are ugly!!
Totally let down by the back seat legroom. This was one of the biggest changes desired by potential buyers. Hard pass for me with 2 kids.
It is tight in the second row
that's what SUV or CUVs are for! who needs a truck just to haul around only one person 99 percent of the time? 🙄🤨
wow, 60k plus truck and too cheap to include $60 mud flaps, crappy rear window? Should have auto start and climate control as well for the price
This dude needs the keto diet asap.😮
I own a 2022 The truck looks nice but it looks too much like a Tundra.
I think it looks better than the tundra because of the smaller size
I hate the tundra look but like this. No giant gaping grille on the Taco.
I think they should have changed the name to something else maybe Totopo
Too much tech to fail. $$$$$$
I HATE RED, JEEP COPIER
Seems like a bunch of useless junk, if you want all that go buy a car. No one makes a pickup anymore.
