Very happy they fixed the seating position!
Well, the lovers of Tacoma will not be happy
@@mbukukanyau A lot of people bought Tacoma _despite_ the ridiculous ergonomics, not _because_ of it.
@mountainhobo sales can be explained by two things, production capacity and the belief that Tacoma lasts forever, which data doesn't prove to be the case.
@@TS-ic1ol many happy miles wishes to you!
Own 2022 the seats are terrible uncomfortable
The power tailgate explains the truck market today. Took a problem that didn't exist and found an expensive and complicated solution.
Exactly 💯 💯
You’ll always find something to complain about
Why no 8 track player? 😀
The whole system is literally a few hundred dollars
I wish Toyota kept a V6 option.
I like that they have ext cab 2 dr model...full size cabs are great but it takes away from payload numbers
Would like to see you guys do a mpg test with and without the air dam.
Why did NONE of the reviewers on UA-cam show/demo the back seat room? Was there an embargo on this information for some reason? Every other mid size truck review always discusses the back seat room, but not the Taco?
I watched them all for this. Alex on auto discussed it - it's smaller than last model and completely useless.
I think the limited crew cab with the Six feet bed is the way to go
While the double chin is bigger than mine, it's not a big deal unless you go off-road. Your point on the damn as a snow plow is a good point.
Scared about the price. It certainly pushes all the right buttons.
get ready for a 65k taco lol
get ready for $20k dealer markups
I am curious to see how the turbo engine fairs over the long haul. That blue is an amazing color. The styling is superb. I am sure it will remain the sales leader in mid size trucks.
Been in the nx for 5 years. It's good
if these new tacos can go for at least 300k miles without any repairs needed on the engine and turbo, this should be an improvement over last generation. but we'll have to wait and see. let's hope this doesn't signal the end of toyota reliability. my inner tinfoil hat is leading me to think that japanese boardrooms got infiltrated by american suits and they convinced them to sacrifice reliability for negligible performance gains. i also actually like the aesthetics of previous year way more than this new 2024.
LOVE THE SHOW ... GLAD U GOT TO SHOWCASE THE NEW TACO ...... HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️
Great overview. Toyota definitely seems to be prioritizing this development most given all the features and models available. Gotta think prices will reflect that but at least nice to have all the options.
how about the back seats?
You guys are the Best auto show on the world wide web.
the air dam is easy to remove, they made it that way
rear seat review please
Am I the only person that doesn’t want/need an entire TV in their vehicles??
You and 6 more 😅
I have watched 8-9 videos on the new Tacoma and no one has mentioned the rear seat legroom! I went out and bought a crew cab Ram because of the lack of rear legroom in the Tacoma and how poorly child car seats fit. I would love to hear if there was any improvement on that aspect of the truck.
I sat in the back seat. Apologies for not shooting it and including it. We were just so rushed trying to get this up.
The rear seat feels small. About the same as today's truck, but with a taller overall seating position which means headroom isn't great and the view for taller people is looking straight at the roof.
Definitely not a huge change from today's truck.
I mean you're gonna get more rear seat leg room in the Ram and any full-size truck vs any midsize truck. They're different classes of trucks.
Kelly blue, TFL, redline, Kirkland, motormouth are all talk about the rear seat
@@wjoseph-rx9mj Alex on autos films it, sits in the back seat , and talks about the lack of leg room.
@@howard1450 he said, the legroom is fine for a midsize truck
10k markup over MSRP incoming at Toyota dealers. Sadly they can get away with it with this Tacoma...Please do not buy a vehicle that has been marked up. It's not worth it!!
I have the 2022 tundra, hybrid platinum and the 2024 Tacoma look like my truck from the back. So the Tacoma is my little brother.
That plastic air dam looks AWFUL. Everyone is going to take them off. Toyota has been making some interesting choices recently 😅
The exhaust looks like an afterthought.
I was hoping you guys were there, when other videos were coming out and I wasn't seeing yalls I was disappointed. I would love to see yall sitting behind yourself in the rear seat... that is going to be an important thing for me.
It's smaller
They did a much better job on the exterior redesign vs the tundra. Thats a damned purdy truck
You two are great. I really love how you guys bounce ideas and thoughts off each other and genuinely have fun making these videos as father and son.
Can't wait to maybe get one of the TRD Sports in the future.
Thanks for the videos guys!
After watching the video, I feel my 2021 off-road 6 ft residual value goes up again 😮
Why?
Huhhh??? Looks subjective but I think it looks way better than Tundra & what u said is probably true about Tundra instead
We (Canadians) are only getting 4wd models? That means no 6 SPD for us. The 6spd is only 2wd if I read correctly. I'm very interested to see the 2dr. I'm a 2dr pick-up guy.
Great video! Informative and entertaining! Good news about the 2 door coming to Canada... eventually. I am looking forward to more videos on this. Any idea when the test drives start?
The air dam makes it look like RC race truck.
If it had air vents for the back seats it would be perfect. Air vents and an arm rest for extra credits
Toyota needs to make the back window motorized like on the Tundra.
Xtracab looks like it's going to be lower trims only I'll wait and see but they seem like they are making it like most single cab full size trucks and really targeting it as a work truck only
XtraCab option only available on the SR and SR5 grades. It is exclusive to the TRD PreRunner. All XtraCabs come with leaf springs and all Double Cabs come with multi-link coil rear suspensions.
love the new tacoma line up
Another great review both.
Will it be assembled in Mexico?
Looks as thought the SV mirrors appear a bit more aero than my 22’ Tundra, wonder if they make less wind noise???
Bed still cant fit a 4x8 between the wheel wells? Ranger figured it out. ..
You do they have a longer bed optional, don’t you?
@@wjoseph-rx9mj How does longer make it wider?
@@66skate they have long bed options
@@wjoseph-rx9mj I know they have longer bed options, but that doesn't do any good if there isn't at least 48 inches side to side.
@@66skate get a full size, stop crying
Seems that alot of gripes got looked at and improved, the seating position better, more payload, more torque even though its a 4 cylinder and deeper bed. Great that they kept a long bed option. 6,500 pounds towing for me is fine, wouldn't want to go over more than 5,000 pounds anyways. An sr5 crew cab long bed with higher tuned 2.4 4 cylinder over the sr unless the higher tune is available with a long bed crew cab, Don't need or want all the extra features. I just want a basic truck, hopefully more reliable than all the other offerings out there. The only thing i worry about is the cost of thing.
I depart from most people here. I think the xtra cab looks better than the four door cab. I'd go with the Prerunner. The four door cab looks too much like a Chevy Avalanche which is butt ugle imo
Great presentation. I am very happy they kept the manual transmission and looking forward to you guys testing and providing an in-depth review.
I’m really happy about the 2400watts inverter
Truly a beautiful vehicle. 😍. King of Trucks, king Taco
How tall is the younger host in the video? He’s either really tall or the seat is small, his tights have like 7” without support… I’m 6’4” and this is always an issue for me unfortunately.
His 6'2"
Thanks for the video
Nice truck
This truck is 10/10 to me
Is the engine Gdi, port injection or both?
Your Dad is a Legend, keep that guy around!
The height of the current door opening is not high enough for me! I always bump my head! Does the new one have a taller opening? Thanks!
I agree tacomas were like sports cars for a seating position
Posting the same question on a bunch of Tacoma videos 😅 anyone knows if the double cab long bed will be available with the 6 speed?
Looks similar to a GM hd truck with the rear quarters and fenders, IMO
Nice review! ⭐ Toyota needs to build more Pros this time. Even before the lockdowns, dealers were marking up the 3rd generation due to the "limited" supply.
I’d have preferred a manual shift lever over that grab handle.
Iˋm happy to see Toyota listened to buyers and fixed most of the longstanding complaints (seating position, rear brakes, c-channel frame sections, etc.). Itˋs unfortunate the full-time t-case wasnˋt made optional for the offroad oriented models. I have a full-time case in my 80 series, and frankly itˋs worth every bit of the small fuel economy penalty (thereˋs a reason the 200 series, LX, and GX all use a full-time case).
I love that you guys see the real world usability of some features and also that you guys point out the not so practical or useless features. You guys clearly understand trucks and I love your channel! Cheers from a loyal Québec viewer
Was seriously about to pull the trigger on a Colorado, but Toyota is so smart to publicize the new model...... thinking I'll wait and check out the Toyota,
Would be fun with the 6-speed. Not sure I want to own the turbo with high mileage though.
I'll wait and see what a Scout looks like!! or is it Stout?
Stout. The Scout was an International.
I love that is has less chrome than my 2022 tundra limited, it would be nice to have two more inches of leg room in the back
Toyota since you are reading this.
I would like to take bow and acknowledge your implementation of my ideas.
You're welcome..😅
Reality thank Ford for this offering from toyota , with the bronco etc they forced toyota to up their game.
Not a fan of the air dam, HP, Torque and rumoured towing numbers, but that interior is nice! Glad they fixed the seating!!
I will die waiting for a manual 4Runner
Excellent review. BTW Bed is smooth because its a prototype, This was brough up multiple times.
What if the battery dies? Can you manually open and close the tailgate?
I wonder why the manufactures equate premium with chrome? I like this trim except all the chrome pieces.
Its nearly perfect but I would offer an option to replace the wood trim with aluminum, piano black, or carbon fiber. The air dam is way to big. They need to make it smaller.
No mention of what models will have the 6' bed as an option...
I wonder if the new 4Runner inherits the manual transmission.
@@TS-ic1ol Pity.
guys - what about the new auto 4wd / AWD system on the limited?
The Full Time Four-Wheel Drive with Locking Center Differential on the Limited grade is only available with the i-FORCE MAX (hybrid) option. If you want the rear under seat storage, you have to select the i-FORCE (non-hybrid) option which only comes with the Part-Time 4x4 drive system.
Unless the fuel economy is north of 9.5 L/100 km, there's going to be a manual in my driveway. Have missed my 2013 dbl cab manual since I was forced to trade it due to a 1000 km weekly commute.
I hated my 2020 TRD Offroad so much I sold it after just 8 months. It was the worst driving, most uncomfortable truck I've ever owned, and I've owned ALL of the midsize trucks over the years. The current Tacoma is a disaster in my opinion, so I'm thrilled that Toyota seems to have addressed a lot of the problems with it, including the stupid seating position. I've been waiting for all the midsize truck redesigns to be released before I purchased my next truck and this new Tacoma may be the one. I only buy long bed trucks, so I'm glad Toyota hasn't dropped that option like GM and Ford have.
Best thing about this truck, Mike Sweers is not the chief engineer. I will probably go back to a Tacoma next year. My third gen was a big disappointment, had to get rid of it.
that Red is a statement. Toyota is great. But have the seats improved for larger people, and has passenger a power seat?
The seats and the sitting position have improved.
Finally a real 3rd generation Tacoma! Not a reskinned 2nd gen with a limp wristed Camry engine.
The 3.5 isn’t bad…
If it came with a TVS supercharger :P
@@ALMX5DP or Magnusson
@@CACressida TVS is just the design (twin screw), I believe Magnuson makes one of the more popular TVS kits for the 3rd Gen.
The 3.5 Liter V6 is more durable tried and trusted. No issues long term. With these new range of turbo 4 bangers with or without hybrids. Who knows 🤞🏻Will sound unrefined too no doubt.
@@jasonknight5863 until the 2GR has a timing chain cover leak or needs new guides or a chain then you learn that you need to pull the engine out because Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to tie the oil pan to the cover unlike the old 4.0. Toyotas turbo 4s have been reliable for decades. Just because its a new concept to you doesn't mean its a new thing to Toyota.
Steve, thank you for being the first tube guy to say “*HEAD*” up display correctly. Everyone else adds an “s” on the end of “head” that doesn’t exist.
Nowhere near as luxurious feeling as the new GMC Canyon Denali
The gm has hard plastic on the top of the door panels 🤣 yeah real nice
A hybrid manual sounds really fun. I hope Toyota ultimately makes one.
Buy the 2023 instead. It has the revised version of the 3.5 litre V6. All the weaknesses are fixed. Leaf springs and drum brakes are gems, they are absolutely bulletproof and long service intervals. These 2024 Hybrid and Turbo versions definitely going to go through teething problems.
Leaf springs and drums 🤣🤣🤣 dude you are CLUELESS
Ha, that v6 is horrible
@@ChrisParayno When it was first launched in 2016/2017 they did have issues and after these two years they perfected 3.5 V6.
Enough with the red tow hooks. Styling is a miss in my book. I do like the two door model and the manual transmission, but not a fan a turbocharged engines.
I love the energy the two of you have. Do you know when the price of the hybrid model will come out?
Toyota nailed it again w/the new Taco. Luv the new looks inside & out & especially finally rear disc brakes that I have been waiting FOREVER for
I'm torn between the Trd sport and the limited! I love the looks of the sport, especially in the blue crush, however the fulltime 4wd on the limited would be better for my use as it would see more pavement and less off road use!
really looking for my work (city ) truck and since i live on a limited space building the tacoma limited got all my attention , cant wait to get mine !!!
Great video guys! Really solid updates to the taco!
Th has the regular has engines beat as does Ford. They will announce hybrids soon so it will interesting in the future. Front air dam and afterthought tow hooks miss the mark. Top model suspension are class leading.
That snow shovel is not me cup of tea
8:18 Were the rear drum brakes really insufficient or only "looking outdated"?
PS
I am afraid the whole stick-shift movement becomes more and more (almost vinyl-like) grotesque. I get the idea of fully manual/mechanical version (simplicity, reliability & serviceability), but what is then a purpose of "rev-match" or "anti-stall" features (the latter likely requires an automatic clutch control anyway)?
Kinda like: "That gun goes against the entire idea behind piercing. All of my piercings, sixteen places on my body, all of them done with a needle."
[Pulp Fiction, 1994]
I've lived in Michigan & Wisconsin & after 50 years of driving I prefer drum brakes in the rear. They just hold up better in salt spray if your keeping a vehicle for the long haul
Back seat space?
12:21 that not a tow hook is it? That’s a tie down for truck transport to dealer.
I don't like the front...Limited is not my choice @
Trd pro yes!
They should offer a blackout package on the Limited. The best looking IMO is the Trailhunter. Everyone, even with Toyota people there didn't tell us it won't have a sunroof when you buy it, yet the display model has one.
Holy overexposure batman! Not sure if your camera has ISO settings but I'd adjust them so it's not so overblown in the sunlight. Great review otherwise!
I love what Toyota has done with the new Tacoma here and that TRD Sport 6-speed model is definitely pointed at customers like me. If we had to trade our 2021 Canyon Elevation Duramax, my wife and I have agreed we'd be getting this instead of the new Canyon. Also, we'd keep the air damn attached; to us it's function over form and since we don't do any real off-roading, it just makes sense to have it.
Good recovery after getting video bombed @ 16:35 “Rethink that move son.” - HJE
And the back seat?????
Beautiful truck! So excited about this. Thank you, Toyota! Did think they’d finally make a real hood vent but ah well.
Best duo
awesome review, great video shots ... gotta admit lol those front chin spoilers are turning to snow plow prep packages ...
Great looking great features, but I'm fearing the $60-$70k price tags at dealerships
The Bronco manual transmission has the clutch hill start function as well !
I would image truck needs to be running to get the 2400w invertor?
Anyone that’s owned a Toyota knows their quality and resale value
