Exdeath in his original appearance is not the most entertaining or interesting of FF villains, but goddamn, Neo Exdeath has a cool design. The fact you’re fighting it in a featureless torrent of light and chaos makes it seem like you’re fighting less of a being and more of a force of oblivion, something the human mind can’t fully comprehend. A bunch of ill-defined horrors held together under the pretence of mind and form.
The previous hit was what killed him. It said "miss" because there was no HP left to take and the game was waiting for the attack to complete to finish the battle.
exdeath is probably one of the most wicked looking final bosses in the series, he has a bunch of filthy disguisting monsters fused together within his body, it is pretty intimidating looking

@hermitsword Freelancers and Mimics have every mastered passive abilities on them, so they can dual wield at all times as soon as you master dual wield, and then you can put other non-passive command slots instead and combine their effects with the passive bonuses. Freelancers and Mimics are the strongest classes of at the end of the game because of that.

I beat with all my characters as freelancers. They all mastered different jobs and it wasn't that hard for me tbh. He was probably the most balanced JRPG final boss i ever fought. He was not too easy but not too hard. Was playing the GBA version btw

I remember both playing the SNES and Advance Version. I grinded hard on the SNES version and turned Neo Exdeath into dust. But when I played Advance 9 years later, I didn't really care about grinding and Neo Exdeath owned me with Almagest about 6 or 7 battles in succession.
Ugh... Neo Exdeath looks freakin' horrible for a final boss. It took a lot of time to beat him cause there are five weak points with about fifty thousand HPs for each.

He was a being corrupted and consumed by (i'm assuming since i've never actually played it) both his own powers, and the powers he brought upon others. @1ittleAsian It comes from mastering the Hunter class. It's the level 4 ability and requires you to get 400 points (not including levels 1-3 of the hunter class)

@BlisterBlaze Flare doesn't give consecutive attacks, the move x-fight (or rapidfire) does. Flare just makes your attacks generally stronger. You get the x-fight ability from the ranger (or hunter).
I am trying to find a certain FF 3D game as a matter of fact. Are there any that have an X in the name, and have a battle style where you see the enemy and when you make contact it takes you to a sort of separated arena where you have a turn based battle. @FalcoGer when you master monk and knight, you can equip swords on each hand, and attack twice, and you get a plus. You can counter attack when you get hit, so that gives you a great offensive power.
See, I got lucky on the 2nd try because when he does that status effect attack, I ended up getting poisoned for two people, one confused and one mute I think. The first time around I got 3 characters on zombie and one confused and poisoned. Couldnt do anything and died shortly after. I think it all depends on that status attack he does and what you get from it.

@kuponut26 because if they are in their regular form, you can attach 3 more abilities on them, since the regular form doesn't have a set class ability. And all you need is the Red mages X-magic ability and then just attach it onto a mime, which does pretty much the same as the regular class.
If you're under level 50, you might be underleveled for this fight. You can still win, but I would never recommend starting below that level. Maybe in the very high 40s, like level 48 or 49.
All my characters where level 52. Freelancers with bartz beeing the summoner and having two summons per round. Faris was my blackmage but also was able to throw shuriken. Lenna was my White mage with two magics a round and last krile with two times magic and time magic. So basically i summoned bahamut two times. Throw fuma shuriken and after that used flare all the time. 2 times meteor. 2 times holy or healing when needed. It worked out for me.

The game is designed to attack the player by driving them insane; primarily due to the awkward level system they used to improve your abilities. The lack of ability to revive fallen players anywhere but in town kinda hurt as well in the early games; and the "Ineffective" attack prompt really hurt.
Kefka is still fairly easy under level 60. NeoExDeath though is pretty hard unless you have either mastered a lot of classes or use a cheap tactic (such as using Gil Toss).

Exdeath is the best Final Fantasy villain. He's the first final boss to have multiple targets, he fights you by himself (fuck you Kefka, making monsters do most of the work for you) and he hates the heroes so much he's willing to kill himself to take them with him.

@dobebs When you master other jobs, their passive skills are automatically used by freelancer-class. Not to mention you can select two abilities from other classes as well.

I have never come across an SNES version of FFV before and it looks very interesting. The reason why it might be fan-translated, is due to the fact that until the release of the Final Fantasy Anthology set, (The box that has the PS One version of FF V and FF IV) the US did not know that FF V was already out on the SNES for Japan only. I just beat exdeath today for the first time. I didn't think I'd get him on my first try. I cast haste2 on my party, used meteo, buildup, bahamut and threw the few pinwheels I had saved, along with a few of the sealed weapons XD

Nah in the mind of the creators the tree is exdeath a tyrant, brought up by being pushed. he gets pulled away in frustration and all the evil spirits left are the rage of the child or the one under the tyrant. like exdeath the abusive dad and neoexdeath the abused child. he wants to retaliate and lash out, the kids push away the dad and hold back their hidden desire to abuse for satisfaction

Kefka was underwellming. I had Locke with max health, ultima weapon, genji glove, ragnarok, and the master scroll. Too easy at that point.

I won this boss by using Coin Toss. Awesome way to kill all sections at once and not having them be revived back.

I think Zeromus was harder than this guy. I got kind of lucky and beat NeoExdeath on 2nd try. Zeromus took 5 tries.

When you master other jobs, their passive skills are automatically used by freelancer-class. Not to mention you can select two abilities from other classes as well.

Well, the way he said it sounded like he had no power, but I'm sure he meant that he had the power to reduce everything to nothingness, which what the vpid is all about.
I have never come across an SNES version of FFV before and it looks very interesting.
The reason why it might be fan-translated, is due to the fact that until the release of the Final Fantasy Anthology set, (The box that has the PS One version of FF V and FF IV) the US did not know that FF V was already out on the SNES for Japan only.

I cast haste2 on my party, used meteo, buildup, bahamut and threw the few pinwheels I had saved, along with a few of the sealed weapons XD

Nah in the mind of the creators the tree is exdeath a tyrant, brought up by being pushed. he gets pulled away in frustration and all the evil spirits left are the rage of the child or the one under the tyrant. like exdeath the abusive dad and neoexdeath the abused child. he wants to retaliate and lash out, the kids push away the dad and hold back their hidden desire to abuse for satisfaction
