Even smash 4 is turning 10 this year and is being tarnished along side gen 7 for lame reasons
The 3DS had it all, you can actually catch em all in this system
The amount of regions you can explore just in one system is crazy
Kanto = eshop
Johto = eshop/remade for the DS and has backward compatibility with 3DS
Hoenn = remaked for the 3DS
Sinnoh = backward compatibility
Unova = backward compatibility
Kalos = introduced on 3DS
Alola = introduced on 3DS
Thanks to the backward compatibility with the DS and during XY/ORAS era (2016) they were giving mythical pokemon every month, making the goal catch em all possible, this was the first time actually able to catch all the pokemon and complete the pokedex
If you have a hacked 3DS, people are working on getting Galar for the GBA and Paldea for the GB
getting every pokemon game up to gen 7 was one of the first things i did when i hacked my 3ds hopefully the galar and paldea ports work out so i can really catch them all on the 3ds
If I'm remembering right, in xy + oras you can catch every gen 1-6 pokemon excluding mythical pokemon in those games, pretty cool if thats the case
@@supersaiyaneevee yea
Gba is also natively run as well on 3ds so you have that alongside 3ds, ds games native. New models also do a few snes games natively but it's definitely not many.
I use to get so annoyed at the fact you couldn’t get some (most of the cool ones) Pokémon, just got Omega Ruby and for the first time in years I’m able to get Rayquaza, multiple ex cover legendaries, deoxys etc.. I’m over the moon at that

At least we can all agree that Pokemon died on the Switch
Except for Legends Arceus that game was like a 6.5/10
Doesn’t look like many others agree. Newer gens are always bless favorable. Before gen 8 and 9 were out, 5 and 6 were hated on, especially as gen 4 reached 10 years old. It won’t be long before gen 8 and 9 are nostalgic and we all hate gen 10 or 11 or whatever.

I think the 3DS was actually the second best era of Pokémon after the DS era. ORAS and the Alola games are some of my favorites in the series and X and Y had a lot of great things about it too and was one of the most important games in terms of the franchises evolution.
bro is tipping if he thinks that us and um are worst then sword and shield
I like US/UM but I actually prefer sword and shield :/
Sword and Shield are great games IMO
The Sun and Moon defender has logged in, I personally would rate gen 7 *way* higher than gen 6. Having played through all four Alola games, I think Sun and Moon are actually a lot better story-wise than the Ultra games, Lillie and Lusamine's relationship makes a lot more sense and hits much harder without the Necrozma stuff mixed in, and it plays more directly into Guzma's implied history of abuse. USUM are definitely worth playing for all the added content like Ultra Wormholes and the Ultra Recon Squad lore, but SM has a way better, more personal story and I think both games are *much* stronger overall than ORAS or especially XY
3DS/DS Pokemon was my childhood. Maxed the timer on Omega Ruby
I loved Pokemon Sun & ultra sun 'Because' it didn't feel like a major pokemon game
It felt like they were taking more risks and not feeling like they had to keep following the same pokemon formula of gyms
Wait wait wait you actually wanted to chase down Latios & Latias!!? I much rather liked how they were gifted to me in ORAS.
USUM was the best!! Mega evolutions, Z-moves, Battle Bond Greninja, Ultra Beast, Primal Forms, & they brought back the legendary Pokémon through the wormholes and you can get them shiny ✨

im a fan of team skull personally. it changes from the trend of villain groups scaling up and up in terms of their evil plans
we go from rocket just trying to get a bag to eco system destruction to cyrus wanting to reset it all. so the silly thugs felt like a nice change of pace
That’s a good way to look at it, I saw them as a weird transition to goofy antagonists and sword and shield and SV have kept that energy.
Team Skull are hands down my favourite "villain" team because they're not some over the top evil group, they're a bunch of kids who fell through the cracks and have been failed by Alolan society

The most hyped pre-release was gold and silver as it was a direct sequel to red and blue at the time (I wasn't alive but that's what I've heard). I do agree though x and y were hyped beyond belief even if they didn't reach that standard set on them
@@RiteshPrabhu-l5d Pokemon’s entire fanbase at the time consisted of children. Most of which didn’t even know Gold and Silver existed until it released outside of Japan. One look at the lifeless featureless switch ui, the fact it has worse paid online, and it doesnt have themes, and that every pokemon game but arceus (had a nice concept going thats about it and the setting was nice) had way too many flaws for its price, lioe why we here lying to ourselves, the switch is flawed in too many ways, so is some games, we had better, we had the 3ds and wii u, we even had Nintendo Selects, and we really had miiverse and video calls and backwards compatibility and organizable uis and themes
How does this guy only have 1,000 subs, i thought I was watching a youtuber with 100k+
Awww thanks DK
I respectfully disagree that Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are anywhere near the caliber and quality of Platinum, I think that Platinum should be the gold standard for what makes a “good” Pokemon game.
All Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon added was more Pokémon, a “very slight” change to the story narrative, and a battle with Ultra Necrozma.
Platinum added many story beat changes to the original Diamond and Pearl story that in some respects, make Platinum almost feel like an entirely different game that Diamond and Pearl.
That’s a valid critique! I think USUM were fine games but platinum is in a league of its own when compared to them. I think they should have went the route more of black and white 2 and leaned into making this game take place after the story of S&M.
I feel like if you talk about 3ds pokemon games you have to include ds pokemon games as well.I feel like the ds/3ds pokemon games are peak of pokemon
Yes I agree, but I’m a bit biased to 3DS because Pokemon Moon and Omega Ruby were my first Pokemon games
Pokemon on the 3DS was not looked to be the peak of the series. Pokemon during the Nintendo DS era was definitely the peak of the franchise.
DS era is overrated, DP garbage
Some people think of the "mega evolution" era as the peak of the series but i personally think it peaked on the ds myself
The fact we don’t have 3rd gen Pokemon on switch is so dumb. It would work perfectly
Right! It would be perfect. I would take even a scaled up version of ORAS :)
@@StrawHatMidas they just don’t want our money. I’d love to go back and play old ds Pokemon games without spending 200$
After X and Y and ORAS, pokemon games became worse and boring starting from S&M and USUM. Since then I get bored at pokemon games (not including Pokemon Legends Arceus)
There was even a pokemon online battle or trade on Xand Y where you can literally speak with whoever you're connecting with. Developers/Nintendo for some reason, removed that capability later on.
I don’t know of anyone who considers this the peak of Pokemon. Everyone I know and have seen online call this the lowest point of the franchise with the worst games.
I think we are currently in the lowest point in the series but this era had the ability to play every generation of pokemon games on it so some people think this is the peak solely because of the variety :)
I'd say the switch era is so much worse than anything the 3ds era did.
@@noobstoise1024 As bad as PLA and SWSH are, I don’t think they’re enough to make the entire Switch era bad. SV, BDSP, and even LGPE are fun games and definitely better than the 3DS ones.
@@jakevaughan8701 PLA was like the only decent to good switch Pokémon game. Like the 3ds games weren't amazing by any existing standard but were definitely better than LGPE, SwSh, and SV

PLA is new for Pokemon, I guess. But it feels like a tech demo and is just full of wasted potential and missed opportunities. I’d argue it’s one of the worst in the series.

Talking about the virtual console... heard "had" breaks my heart....luckily , I prepared well and have it. I was afraid about the servers shutting down , but then I remembered home costs extra to run bank. So I'm not too worried about it
I spent so much money before it shut down it was bad
I love playing romhacks on my old3ds from 2012. I played alpha sapphire and ultra sun. I never played original ruby and sapphire but aplha sapphire was peak for me. Pretty environment, mega evolutions, long post game, engaging story , cool pokemon designs, There was certain level of freedom when you flew on your latias or latios around region. I finished it two times in total. Then Ultra Sun i sleep. Narrow routes and islands seem so small. I feel trapped there. Non stop npc dialog where you spam it fast to skip. Not to mention that mark on map where to go totally kill any sense of exploration. Fights were okay. They were a lot harder compared to alpha sapphire. The way they made this game is just bad for me.
I think USUM were good but when ORAS was so good it was hard to compete. I didn’t like the original sun and moon though they felt very bland :)
@@StrawHatMidas How was ORAS hard to complete ? You mean pokedex ? I got unobtainable from that market where you offer some pokemon for other pokemon. Not to mention people traded them in wonder trade often. There was also stream on youtube that allowed you to get mythical and legendary i think from wonder trading. Also shiny of your choice. Nintendo shut down on the eshop and online was criminal
To me this era was defined by tonal whiplash in contrast to black and white. The story, difficulty, designs,the promise of a more mature direction completely U turned to the other extreme. Graphically, a retro style done well looks better than a modern style with no personality, Mii like avatars and frame rate drops. The fact sword and shield appeared to be derivative from a 3DS project pretty much doomed the switch too

Idk about that, imo X and Y were just another entry in the series and didn’t really do much, ORAS was great so I can’t say much about that, Sun and Moon changed the core of Pokémon and it wasn’t for the better, I wasn’t a fan of the island trials and totem Pokémon, Ultra Sun and Moon felt really identical to the original Sun and Moon and didn’t improve enough to actually be worth buying again

Switch era is beyond unacceptable
Switch era has been an experience i can say that
No contest between ORAS and XY. ORAS is one of Pokémon's best
Need to do a video on BDSP on why it’s considered to be ‘bad’, personally I love the games though
I will absolutely do a BDSP video!
I think the main issue with BDSP is that they copy pasted DP, slapped a fresh coat of paint, threw in some minor additions here and there and called it a day
Whereas HGSS and ORAS did much more to improve their original games
Gen 7 was the last game Pokémon game i bought day 1. I hated it and decided I'd never waste money on a day 1 Pokémon game. I still don't have any dlcs or Scarlet and Violet, and I can't make it through the first island of Ultra sun.
I also bought it day one and i beat it and was so upset about how far it fell.
I was already 18 when these games were announced, i remember being in one of my first college classrooms seeing the announcement of the starters on serebii and seeing some fat kid a few rows ahead of me looking at the same page, and going up to him to try talking about it after, only for him to end uo being CRAZY socially awkward and not able to really talk about it much, BUT I did end up meeting a girl who had been walking with him, and dating her for like 4 months which was pretty dope. Hoenn looks better, sounds better and has revamped areas like Mauville, the move animations look better, the physical special split, secret bases are better, dexnav, soaring, team Magma/aqua and your rivals are more well developed, you can actually rematch the elite four and champion with harder teams, mega evolution, Pokémon amie and all those touch screen features, the delta episode, Steven as champion instead of Wallace… need I go on?
The only things Emerald has going for it is harder gym leaders who you can also rematch, 2d sprites looking better at times, and the battle frontier (which is incredibly tedious without modern conveniences like bottle caps, super training etc)
DS Pokémon is overrated
Some people say it was the best time due to being able to get every pokemon and having the mega evolution. I can see both sides but DS is the peak imo
Ultra sun and ultra moon will always be my favourite :) I wasn't to fond of X/Y though
That is fair those games are fun! It is okay to not like games and to like some more than other! :D
@@StrawHatMidas yeah 100% :)
Think 3ds was 3rd best gen. After 1st being switch then gameboy. GameCube had 2 but not count because rest had like 3 or 6.
No it was really good for the most part on 3ds not the best but NOWHERE NEAR THE WORST
....
That goes to the Switch
3DS Pokemon is peak Pokemon.
