    Thanks for the video. Shark was on my short list due to the bagless collection bin. Ran my shark for the first time this morning and it ran the perimeter first with the clean edge. I will say I set it to run specific rooms not just the whole house.

    Just to follow up on my comment below:
    I ran mine the first time around last night. Mapping was pretty quick for my ~1000sq ft main floor. It didnt have to "outline" the walls and literally went in the middle and figured out where the walls are
    The odd thing was it did START with the PERIMETER with my initial cleaning. It went against the walls then it started cleaning in a pattern, but what confused me was that after doing the pattern it went on to do random routes
    Still, it cleaned very well. Im in the process of selling my home so it's always clean but this thing picked up more pet hair and dust I didnt know I still have.
    Think this is 1 software update away from being great. It's an excellent buy IMO.

    I just got the non-self empty version (personally dont feel it's worth the extra money for a 10 second job). Cant wait to try it because I was already impressed by the previous gen without the LIDAR. I do hope they improve on the perimeter cleaning, think this is a software update away from being A+

    In the next video, I hope you discuss tweaking the map for rooms. My first cleaning showed that I had the walls slightly too far one way or the other, and had to adjust.

    I'm curious about your thoughts on the pattern of how the thing mops. So I'll probably have to wait for that part of a later video.
    I've seen another video of it mopping and thought it was interesting since it did it differently than all the other mopping robot vacuums.

    It makes a lot more sense to run the border clean after the main cleaning because robot vacuums have a slight tendency of flicking debris along the wall especially the shark robots and even roombas do it sometimes.

    • @xeon2k8
      @xeon2k8 Рік тому +2

      and then when they clean the edges they flicker debris back into the centre of the room. Useless argument. Roborock have never had problems doing the edge first.

      correct or at least do it first and then at the end as well to ensure a perfect clean.

    I had this robot vacuum for a while, and I loved it!! However, after about a month cleaning hardwood floors and carpet it started to not pick up some debris as on the first runs. I noticed that a small rubber on the bottom of the robot, near to the brush roll was missing (maybe ripped off during carpet cleaning?). That is when cleaning performance was not so good as before. So, I am wondering how is the cleaning performance compared to first runs and if this rubber is still present on your robot?

    For me, most vacs do fine on hard floors. My thing is dog hair on carpet. Any that actually gets the hair and not just push it deeper into the carpet?? Would love to see a test like that

    Adam, I have a revolutionary idea 😑.
    Make an option in the app so people can choose perimeter cleaning first or last.
    But as far as the air perimeter feature, it seems to have some effect.
    If you had the time maybe get the best round vacuums and do a corner test to see if it does better. Preferably minus the spider webs lol.

    Most smart vacs are programmed to clean in the direction they are oriented when parked on the base. I do have one 360 S5 that vacuums 90 degrees to the parked orientation though. I've made several of my robot vacuums clean diagonally by placing the station at an angle. Not efficient but it is pretty amusing.
    I only noticed now that Shark went with LiDAR this time. I guess the fiasco with their last few VSLAM bots has caused a change in direction for the company. Too bad about that end result.
    I would like to see someone challenge Roomba in the non-lidar space for shorter bots. My experience with the S9 suggests that the 360 S10, with it's in-frame lidar emitters, won't be a good vacuum. Eufy is too expensive even if the gyro navigation is pretty good and the Roborock e-series is just as tall as thier lidar bots anyway.

    Its spposed to run a vertical then horizontal pattern if so then edge cleaning should be between both. My guess this is as close to edge cleaning of a upright they can get. At lest someone is trying to bring it to robot vacumm. Looking forward to see how well it mops since it has sonic mopping pad.

    I'm interested to see the review of this Shark when you finish it. I'm hoping you'll address obstacle avoidance vs other vacuums.
    Your's is the only independent video I've seen of this vacuum, all the other channels either haven't covered it or are obviously being paid to promote it, no other honest opinions on it.

    • @Mt_Goat694
      @Mt_Goat694 Рік тому

      I've got an old shark IQ XL that I'm getting tired of with it's poor mapping and no obstacle avoidance. I'd like to upgrade to something under $400 with good mapping, obstacle avoidance, and self empty. Without front facing sensors/camera and lacking realtime position on the in app map(if it's like the AI Ultra according to Vacuum Wars review) I don't know if this shark is the one. With a cat in the house I like shark for it's pet hair pickup and bagless base station, I'm glad to hear this model runs quieter, the old base station is so loud.

    • @Mt_Goat694
      @Mt_Goat694 Рік тому

      I'd like to see them add a brush on the opposite side of the vacuum vs the blower so it could sweep out the spider webs in the corners so it can actually blow stuff freely.

    • @Mt_Goat694
      @Mt_Goat694 Рік тому

      I don't know how important it really is to have real time display of where the vacuum is in the house but it seems like it would be helpful for labeling rooms and finding the vacuum when it's stuck because man does the old IQ get stuck a lot. I end up using the in app pager and walking around to where I hear the vac chiming...not ideal.

    From the videos seen object identification & avoidance isn't available on this model like other top of the line models. It will run over cables & poop not go around them not very smart for shark to leave that out since that is a feature which is becoming more desirable among robot vacumms

    • @mdmehranrahman3058
      @mdmehranrahman3058 Рік тому

      They would have to add a front facing camera with sensors, as well as set up a database and library of images to reference off of. The only purpose of this robot vacuum was to add mopping to their top of the line auto empty robot vacuum. They might release a model in the future with obstacle avoidance but I don't think they're ready for something like that yet.
