I just installed my Rise 4 last night using your install video as my guide. I’ve already tested it out with Call of Duty and Fortnite. It’s a great budget option if you’re not interested in buying a full custom controller.
Them custom controllers are so God dam expensive, some are as much as $300 when I've looked 👎 The good thing with these is 'if' it ever breaks you can fix it yourself 😉
@@CraigsChannel funny thing is that Hexgaming custom controllers cost almost $300 US, but they are built entirely off these eXtremeRate parts. I guess that makes sense since they are divisions of the same company.
Yeah they're both the same company and their new ones called cobra gaming or something. Their pre built pads are expensive but guess some people think they'll break something trying to do it on their own, so would rather pay the premium

Soldering on this is a super easy job. The Xbox Series remap kit on the other hand is next level, you have to solder about 30 points and they all have to be connected of the kit doesn't work
Hey mate great videos. I have a fully set up dualsense with the remap kit with 4 back buttons. Well now the K2 trigger feels like when i click it its not clicking as easy or responsive. Like it needs to be clicked farther in. What do you think the issue is mate? Maybe make a video on it as I see this being an issue. Its not that old or used of a controller and parts.
Sounds like the K2 could have possibly snapped, is it the plastic paddles? If you pop the back little covet off, remove the two tiny screws and check your K2 it could have cracked down one side, message Extremerate and they'll send you some spares. So far I've had 2 snap, they upgraded the plastic now though to a v3 which is stronger
Hi Craig. I've done 4 or 5 of these mods and gone perfectly but currently modding one for my friend (controller only 2/3 weeks old and battery is showing a question mark when plugged into ps5? All buttons work as they should when connected via cable but then when I dissconect it is unresponsive. I've took apart and made sure all ribbon cables are fitted but can't seem to find whats wrong? Any ideas what this could be? I'm lost
I just got this and used your videos to install. I like the placement of these paddles way more than I did for the ps4 (infinity) scuffs. They are so nice and the quality is way better than i thought they would be. It feels like its part of the stock controller.
Did you guys the 4 buttons Eric or the 2? I've never owned a Scuf but a few friends have and they broke after about 6 months, one I managed to fix but my friend had to drill the security screw out as Scuf use their own patient screw 👎
On their website it says “If you don't need the L3, R3 and touchpad button can be remapped, soldering is not necessary.” What does that mean Craig? I am highly confused. I do not want to order this kit if I am going to lose function of L3 and R3 plus the touch pad.
No no you've read a little wrong, or they've wrote it a little wrong. Basically if you want to have say L3 or R3 as a back button you'll need to do soldering. 99% of people only want say X or O as their back button so zero soldering. You don't lose an functionality or anything, the L3 R3 and touchpad will work as normal
Have you gotten used to the 4 buttons? I’ve always had 2 on my ps4 controller. Not sure if I should get the rise 2 or 4. Not even sure if I’ll use the additional 2 buttons
I've got a few kits on each of my pads, the RISE4 I'm still only using 2, I just don't need 4 buttons, 2 is more than enough for the games I play. But I know people who play Demon Soul use all 4
The only difference is they've been made stronger the v1 and v2 snapped, so the v3 are the newer stronger paddles. Some people have gone for the metal ones but I'm not really a fan, I prefer the plastic
Could I just buy the board for the upgrade? Or do I need to buy the full kit? I’m only looking for the board because my version 2 left back button went dull on me and doesn’t sound clicky no more and doesnt go back to position and stays stuck
It sounds like your paddles snapped, you'd be best off removing it and checking to see if there's a small crack, if there is contact extremerate on Twitter and they'll send you the newer stronger v3 paddle 👍

I prefer their PS4 4 button kit. I’m hitting the wrong back buttons sometimes but a lot of the time I’m hitting them in error when I don’t need to click them just because of my hand position. I think they should’ve done one similar to the PS4 version. It’s good though.
Give it a few days or a week to get a good feel for where the buttons are and how much pressure you need to use, you'll figure it out and stop pressing them by accident. When I first got the back buttons for the PS5 I kept hitting them myself, same with a few people I've spoken to
I found that using K3 and K4 as my main buttons works a lot better than using the paddles. Btw I rest my Index Fingers on K3/K2 and slide them down to the paddles when I need to use them instead of gripping them all at once. My mapping is K3 = X ❌ K4 = Square 🟥 K1 = Triangle🔺 K2 = Circle⭕ Using Tactical in Call of Duty so my Crouch/Slide is on R3
Ahh see my R3 is the Melee to hit people. I think the issue is my hands are so small 😄 I'd like to try them middle ones as my main but don't think they would be comfortable for me 👎

No I never accidentally press them, they're a 10/10 for me. I did have the original Clicky which I liked, but after using the tactile version I wouldn't go back. If you do buy them make sure it's the tactile
The tactile have that mouse click and feel to them, the normal Clicky isn't as Clicky, they still have a click feel but with the tactile you get the best of both worlds, sound and feel 👍

Yeah I'll be honest, I'm struggling with the K3 and 4 buttons. Just didn't feel a natural placement and I can only use the inside of my middle fingers which is a strange finger motion.
Silly question maybe but have you only got small hands like me 😄 I think that's my issue. Don't get me wrong I'm going to keep at it and hopefully master it, but at the moment I'm still a noob with them haha
It's just a big huge printed material thing with so many controllers all over it, n64, original Nintendo, Wii, PS3 PS4 PS5, Xbox, Saturn, Mega Drive... so many, I love it. The company sent me it out with me doing videos and stuff for them
Yeah it's really cool, they sent me two in case anything ever happens to my main one. When I was soldering last year I dropped the soldering iron on the mat but it only did a try but damage, so wasn't to bad
I've no idea! Extremerate just sent me it from China, so maybe somebody other there made it but I'm sure if you searched online you could have your own made if you wanted one
I did this upgrade last week. The K1 and K2 paddles don't feel as clicky as the original 2 paddle set up. It was pretty disappointing. Works fine but just doesn't have that really tactile feel like it did.
Were your paddles v2 or v3? The ones thay came with the kit should have been 3, but the ones you'll of originally had might be the 2. Maybe put your older paddles in, see if they feel better?

Personally I think the plastic ones are good enough. The 2 button kit they had loads of issues with snapping paddles, but since then upgraded the design 3 times so they're much stronger
You might be able to with ease if your hands are bigger than mine, I've only got small ones. The buttons at first you might press by accident but you'll get muscle memory for how much pressure to use. When I first fir the 2 button kit I kept hitting them but after a couple of days I didn't 👍
Maybe pop the back off and check the remap button doesn't get in the way. You could just totally remove the little remap button from the middle, if it doesn't do it anymore you know its the plastic and might need to file or sand it down a little

The LED kit isn't really my thing, I know loads of people love them but I removed them from mine and just stuck with the standard. Its the back buttons that people really want. They're super popular at the moment. I wouldn't ask any money, I'm happy to help anybody out I can, I never ask anything back. Where about you from?

Just installed Rise4, and I find it's too sensitive. I find myself accidentally press the k3, k4 often, and k1 ,k2 when i rest my finger on top of them. Would the Rise2.0 or the Rise2.0 metal version be firmer to press?

Say that again mate, not sure what the utd bit meant. If your asking would I recommend metal or plastic, I'd say plastic with them tactile triggers, if you play CoD or another FPS game, if it's racing games don't add the triggers unless you've got a spare pad. I've just bought that Gran Turismo 7 and thank god I had a pad with no digital triggers 😄

A ticking noise, do you know what part of the controller? In all the thousands of comments I've received I've heard none about ticking! Have you got the regular triggers or digital ones fitted with the paddles?
O sorry i forget too mention i also installed thw digital clicky trigger (from you other video) i thinks its the right vibration mechanic, i did the triggers first before i did the remap buttons.

Yeah totally the same install for the metal paddles, I did a video installing them. I'm the opposite I find the metal paddles less sensitive, I think everybody's different because reading through the comments its a 50/50 some people love the metal and others the plastic... me personally I love the plastic
I think it's a better option to go for the full kit, but some people might not want to spend the extra. I was randomly on eBay last night and noticed some guy sells the kit with triggers for £160 and I'm sure it says hes sold 150, must he making a fortune
My v1 plastic paddles snapped, but since then they've upgraded the paddles 3 times, the v3 paddles are slightly different shaped and have a strong piece of plastic. I've not heard anybodys v3 paddles snap yet! Hopefully they won't 😄 but you do get a 12 month warranty if they ever did
They've got a different feel but yeah they're clicky, tbh I'm not using them, I think it's due to my small hands and forgetting I even have them. I've only used 2 buttons for the past couple of years so my muscle memory keeps sticking with just 2 if that makes sense. I need to drill it into my head I've an extra 2
I can't see why not! I don't think I've got a v1 kit to try but I'm sure they all use the same main ribbon cable. I'll see if I've got a v1 kit somewhere and try but but I'm 99% it'll be the same

I wouldn't worry about putting it together, that's the easy part. The tricky part is getting used to back buttons, they took me a good couple of week when I first got them, my only advice is don't give up, keep using them every chance you get, even at the main menu and stuff. I personally like the plastic paddles, but others prefer the metal. It's a split decision between people, guess it's you who's going to have to decide, but me I'm plastic 😄
Am with you on this 1. I bought the rise4, tactile trigger buttons and extended thumb ticks. In all it came to about 70 pounds for a small amount of flimsy plastic that you install your self. They could make it a lot cheaper when you look back at the ps4 back button options which ranged from 8 to 30 pounds, which were plug in n play no d.i.y job.
@@foxhound19781618 We'll have to see if Sony or anybody ever brings a kit that kit clips on, I think in a year we might see something but until then we'll have to wait. £70 for everything you've paid isn't to bad I guess, considering these pre built are selling for £250-300
Great video Craig. Thanks for answering my last question. I installed both the tactile clicky triggers and RMB Rise 2.0 kit with the help of your videos. Only question now is… one of the back buttons feels kind of looser than the other - it doesn’t have a solid feel of a click, like it’s not sat right somehow. Have you encountered this issue or know how to solve it?
One of the back paddles or L2 R2? If its the paddles, I'd pop the back cover off, back sure the two screws are tight, not over tight but tight, or double check the metal rods are fully pressed in place as they might only been on slight pressed down

If their controller is only a few weeks old is it a BDM-030? Press down either L2 or R2, can you see a tiny little spring

You only need to solder if you want R3 or L3 to be mapped to the back, they work as normal though

Yeah same process if you've got the first version of the back buttons and want to upgrade to the RISE4, should only take you 5-10minutes

When you say going into remap mode what do you mean? Like the solid red light comes on?
@@CraigsChannel yes mate so it programs the buttons fine then randomly the red light goes solid and the buttons don’t work. Goes on and off

Just installed Rise4, and I find it's too sensitive. I find myself accidentally press the k3, k4 often, and k1 ,k2 when i rest my finger on top of them. Would the Rise2.0 or the Rise2.0 metal version be firmer to press?
The metal buttons are a more firm press but if you're new to these back buttons they'll always be sensitive to start with then you'll get used to them

Did you have the PS4 one that clips on? Like the offical Sony one or another kind?
I prefer the 2 button to the 4. 4 buttons is just to many

I prefer the plastic ones over the metal, but people say the metal feel more firm. I guess it's personal preference. Maybe try both?

If your asking would I recommend metal or plastic, I'd say plastic with them tactile triggers, if you play CoD or another FPS game, if it's racing games don't add the triggers unless you've got a spare pad.
I've just bought that Gran Turismo 7 and thank god I had a pad with no digital triggers 😄

That video I add both paddles and triggers mate. It's a bit of an older video now but should be the same as the newer version. Don't think you'll get stuck.
When you order the digital triggers make sure they're the tactile ones

A ticking noise, do you know what part of the controller? In all the thousands of comments I've received I've heard none about ticking!
Have you got the regular triggers or digital ones fitted with the paddles?
O sorry i forget too mention i also installed thw digital clicky trigger (from you other video) i thinks its the right vibration mechanic, i did the triggers first before i did the remap buttons.
Go into the controller settings and turn off the haptic feedback and that should fix it

I've honestly never heard of a clicking noise. Did you make sure the cogs were lined up?

Yeah totally the same install for the metal paddles, I did a video installing them. I'm the opposite I find the metal paddles less sensitive, I think everybody's different because reading through the comments its a 50/50 some people love the metal and others the plastic... me personally I love the plastic

I think it's a better option to go for the full kit, but some people might not want to spend the extra.
I was randomly on eBay last night and noticed some guy sells the kit with triggers for £160 and I'm sure it says hes sold 150, must he making a fortune

They've not yet said if they'll be doing a 4 button kit, but I'm guessing they will but no idea when. I still prefer the plastic
@@CraigsChannel Ahh ok. You think the plastic parts are at risk of breaking? Think I'll just bit the bullet and buy the upgrade for £25.
My v1 plastic paddles snapped, but since then they've upgraded the paddles 3 times, the v3 paddles are slightly different shaped and have a strong piece of plastic. I've not heard anybodys v3 paddles snap yet! Hopefully they won't 😄 but you do get a 12 month warranty if they ever did

They've got a different feel but yeah they're clicky, tbh I'm not using them, I think it's due to my small hands and forgetting I even have them. I've only used 2 buttons for the past couple of years so my muscle memory keeps sticking with just 2 if that makes sense. I need to drill it into my head I've an extra 2

I can't see why not! I don't think I've got a v1 kit to try but I'm sure they all use the same main ribbon cable. I'll see if I've got a v1 kit somewhere and try but but I'm 99% it'll be the same
i installed mine yesterday everything went smoothly but it just feels like k1 and k2 don't go all the way because of the grips
The rubber grips? Are your paddles definitely snapped down in place? Mine feel fine, I really like the rubber grip it's my favourite one
@@CraigsChannel the problem was because the two screws that keep the board in the paddles down were not tightened completely

@@CraigsChannel I actually haven’t bought one yet I’m still not sure what to get yet o heard the metal might be better since it’s harder to press but I’ve never had a back button attachment but I don’t want to buy something and not know how to put it together
I wouldn't worry about putting it together, that's the easy part. The tricky part is getting used to back buttons, they took me a good couple of week when I first got them, my only advice is don't give up, keep using them every chance you get, even at the main menu and stuff.
I personally like the plastic paddles, but others prefer the metal. It's a split decision between people, guess it's you who's going to have to decide, but me I'm plastic 😄

£25 isn't to bad, but I know what you mean they could have maybe been a little cheaper!
Am with you on this 1. I bought the rise4, tactile trigger buttons and extended thumb ticks. In all it came to about 70 pounds for a small amount of flimsy plastic that you install your self. They could make it a lot cheaper when you look back at the ps4 back button options which ranged from 8 to 30 pounds, which were plug in n play no d.i.y job.
@@foxhound19781618 We'll have to see if Sony or anybody ever brings a kit that kit clips on, I think in a year we might see something but until then we'll have to wait. £70 for everything you've paid isn't to bad I guess, considering these pre built are selling for £250-300
Great video Craig. Thanks for answering my last question. I installed both the tactile clicky triggers and RMB Rise 2.0 kit with the help of your videos. Only question now is… one of the back buttons feels kind of looser than the other - it doesn’t have a solid feel of a click, like it’s not sat right somehow. Have you encountered this issue or know how to solve it?
One of the back paddles or L2 R2? If its the paddles, I'd pop the back cover off, back sure the two screws are tight, not over tight but tight, or double check the metal rods are fully pressed in place as they might only been on slight pressed down
