Ahh. I remember when my tractor still had all it’s paint. Such a beautiful time in a tractors life.
In all the yrs I've seen my dad using the box scrapper and pulvizer I like it his had 2 rows of spikes and 2 tumblers and did a very nice job my dad was the best in the business when it came to grading and excavating and finished landscaping he did things with his Massey Ferguson model 25 that just amazed me but im not in anyway trying to take away from the job you do with your equipment or your experience your doing a fine job. My dad after all the yrs of watching the grade using the clutch gave his hip problems so he got him a tc40d new holland hydro with smart stear and a tr3 rake and forks and continued to amaze me and i do a little bit of stuff with the tc40d but I might be just a little biased just cause he was my dad and thats ok and should be expected from his son and all the things he taught me . Again im sorry to hear that you have lost your dad .
Yep. With years of experience (much more than I have) some guys are masters of this type of equipment!

With software it is hard to see and appreciate your progress. When you are working with the tractor, you see immediate results! Much more satisfying!!
Glad to see you get a power rake for the tractor. I ran one behind a tractor for 9 years. I preferred it over the skid steer power rake. With more practice, the only raking needed will be done is on the edges. Also a benefit not mentioned but seen, is the capability to angle. This helps moves dirt around and windrow rocks and trash. Great video.
Just picked up a tiller 2 weeks ago, wish I had procrastinated a bit longer and saw this first. Power rake probably would have been better suited for what I needed. Such is life.
Much more fun expensive for tiller.

I’m amazed how well the 1025r handled that power rake. I’d love to see a video on how you set that up to the tractor. I’ve been adding lots of dirt and leveling my yard but all I have is the box blade which works pretty well.
I like the job that power rake does. There are times it would be mighty handy. Probably isn’t going to get past the “finance committee” 😉. Blessings!
Hey Tim, you are missing one of your lug nuts on the left rear tire. In the first clip. Like so they see this!!
Good catch!!!! I about lost that same wheel when all 6 were loose and 5 fell out. Did damage to the wheel and the parts those bolts go into.

Well, get on green parts and order a new one! You don’t want to loose another one and warp the rim.
That rake made the yard look nice. Definitely improved the curb appeal.

36" manual rakes are great for grading/leveling.
Thanks Tim. I bought my Harley rake earlier this summer. You are correct regarding the cost vs a tiller. I am still learning on how to use it most effectively. Sometimes my rear wheels are off the ground as my hitch it too low. I need more practice I guess. Keep up the good work. GOD bless.

Worksaver makes some nice equipment. They also used to make Frontier labeled things for John Deere and probably still do. Located in Litchfield, Illinois with dealers in the midwest.

So many lawn/landscape people, including TV ones say dethatch, aerate, seed and put down starter fertilizer in the spring. They say it's the best time for rain and the ground is warming up. Others say the fall; aerate, fertilize and seed. Either way they say to cover the seed lightly with composted topsoil to protect it. I play it by ear! Guess it's the Indian in me.
Both are really time sensitive. Too late in either season can really mess things up. A few thing's for sure is, seed contact with soil, starter fertilizer and a bunch of water. Fall is the best time to seed in my opinion.
@@augustreil there are some people who simply throw seed in the snow and take their chances that it will come up in the spring.

Looks like the power rake would do less damage and unnecessary digging as well. I didn't know they made a 3 point. I knew they made a skid steer version. If I dug up all the rocks around my place I would have to bring in more diet. Haha thanks Tim great video
I wondered when you would get a power rake! I’ve had the Frontier version for three years now. People are amazed at what I can do with it on my 1025R.

Tim for the love of god buy a landscape rake it’s 3’ wide and makes finishes super easy. Gets you much better results much faster

I have one and even for little jobs it really helps out getting everything nice a even without and dips. Speeds up the work a lot.

I’m thinking a tiller is a must have..But for finishing work that really looks useful.I usually see those used on track steer equipment,but I can only imagine the cost of rental would be huge.For working on city sized lots I can see how that would be an advantage.You said the 1025 wasn’t quit big enough,but it looked like it was working well.Any reason why ?

House is probably sold by now, but still, my tip for getting rid of the growth up around those trees, the vines, is chainsaw on a stick, a couple of passes up either side then it’ll pull right off.

Tim I have a 1023 I need a attachment to regrade and move dirt from around the foundation of my house, I dug up the footer pipe to replace it and need to get a attachment to help reshape and lightly dig up the now pack dirt

Tim i am exited that my ideal of plugin the Diverter Valve into backhoe Hydraulic hookup becoming a useful ideal and exited see that video
I noticed there was no waste gate on your power rake, also there should be to different top points for your upper arm one is a simple stationary and one elongated. The simple is best for cutting through but when final grading use the elongated one, you can set your depth and drive.

Would move the dirt too much...like a box blade.
And leave the ground under it packed a bit too much...in my opinion.

Did a good job, but seeing the rear caster wheels confused quite often I wonder if a slack top hitch unit would be an advantage. Allowing the unit to stay in contact with the ground.
In those times, I did not need the gauge wheels...trying to dig a bit deeper. I have hydraulic top link to immediately adjust as I see fit.
Doesn't appear to angle to windrow the rocks and debris off to the side.. but maybe just didn't notice that feature which is a good one in a Harley Rake.
Works well. We didn’t have much debris.

Very interesting piece of equipment. This looks similar in function to a power rake you had on Vinny a few months ago. You might sometime in a new episode explained what the difference would be on Vinny and this one on Johnny one. I do agree with you that the power rake would be more effective on Johnny two.
Tim your 1025R is missing a rear wheel bolt on the left side
I know you prefer the loader bucket for finish work, but a tiller and a land plane would have made short-er work of that job. I know you were testing it and they are amazing implements and it's more versatile. Would love to have one but they cost almost as much as the backhoe ...... yikes.
Is the rake you used in this video the PTC-525? I see that the PTC-525 is listed as weighing 755lbs. My understanding is that the spec'd 3PH lift capacity is 681lbs for the 1R, so the PTC-525 is either much less than 755 or your 1R is strong! Plus, you have it setup with the iMatch and that's another 70+lbs and it pushes the rake out further.
I mentioned that it is a bit too heavy for Johnny.

It's amazing how bad a roof can look and still not leak !
If you angle the power rake of to one side can’t you windrow all the rocks of to say the side walk for easy collection?
In theory, yes. Works pretty well, but at the end of a run, not al of them are pushed to the side.
In all fairness to those thinking about buying one of these smaller tractors, maybe you should take a few jobs that arent in the sandy softer soils. In my neck of the woods, most of your equipment wouldn't work in our clay. I've seen harder soil on a baseball diamond to be honest.

Vinny’s power rake is easier to use. We’ll address the differences as we go along.
If it was too heavy for the tractor you should have adjusted the three point so that the wheels on the rake picked up some of the weight.
When we first started looking at tractors, like Deere the reviews said by many people that the front axle leaked. I've never heard you say anything about your tractors. The salesman at the dealer wouldn't tell me anything about it. in fact he just turned around an walked off. So we bought an LS tractor. The kubota dealer didn't even try to help us, so we left.
We had a bit of seepage on our 2014 model only when we hauled heavy loads in the loader.
It did not leak normally.
2018 and 2019 models have not even seeped.
One comment .....you saw some negative comments about a VERY popular machine...so it made you choose a relative ‘unknown’ machine where you will not find enough reviews online to give you a complete picture.
Beware of that type of research in the future.

Tim ,I rough-cut a bare acreage that had small popular trees (a few 3inch most were 2 inch and smaller) would the power rake remove the remaining tree root,spike left by rough cut mower? or what do you suggest
Hmm. Power rake would likely do the job.
That power rake looks to work quite well. I could never use it on my yard due to all of the lime stone, but still looks like a nice tool.
I do have a question when it comes to rakes. Is there a rake sort of like a tedder for use on lawns? I ask as the area where I live has had almost 3X the amount of rainfall as usual, and as such, the grass is growing like a weed. There's so much moisture in/on the grass you can't mow before 1-2:00 PM and even then the grass clippings still clump. I'd like to be able to go over the lawn to rake the clippings to disburse them to the lawn. The grass is being cut twice a week, new sharp high lift blades.
It's taken 3 years with the addition of sulfur each year to finally get good soil. Sending soil samples to the county extension office to test then add what they recommend to get good growth. Waiting to apply sulfur again this year and probably will have to apply each year due to the leaching of the alkides from the limestone.
Good question. I have no answer.

Sounds like you are needing a dethatcher to run over your lawn.
You need a lawn sweep. Can get those at Lowe’s or Home Depot for less than$200. I have had to use mine a few times this year for the same reason. Makes quick work of raking up the excess grass clippings. I then put the clippings from the sweeper into a pile and turn it through out the fall and winter and by spring we have good compost to use.

Thank you sir. I had already looked at de-thatching drag behind units, but they didn't look like they'd do much for grass clumps, unlike dead grass close to the soil.
Does it feather the dirt into the remaining grass well or do you end up having to manually rake the edge to taper it in?
Did you ever find out why there was not grass or weeds on that hump of dirt? I definitely have a huge weed patch in a couple of weeks on any "loose dirt" areas.
Turns out that it had been tilled with a walk behind tiller a few weeks before.

Can you “till” a garden with a power rake?
tilling deep is becoming obsolete. it kills organic matter. the power rake would "till" deep enough I guess.
@@Blast357 Just because you can dig 6" deep with a tiller, doesn't mean you have to. You can set it to 2" if you want. One fifth the cost.

Have used the same teeth on the Ventrac version for a long m time with no apparent wear.

Rimguard dude mounted the Versa turf rears. I just haven’t taken the time to instal the fronts. Sorry.
