I have the T8 Harley Power Box Blade Rake and it does a great job---just recently built and leveled a pad for my new barn on a sloped ground. It is an awesome piece of equipment---had mine for about 7 years now

How does it do with tearing up tree roots--maybe up to an inch, or an inch and a half? How much to replace the carbide tips? What tractor (h.p.) do you use with your T8? Sorry...lots of questions!

I have a Kubota M9540 which I think is either 95 or 100 HP. The T8 does great for cutting, moving, and smoothing dirt. When I used it I did not have an abundance of roots. It cut up the inch or so size without much trouble, but if it is a heavy root area, I don't know how it would do. I have never had to replace a tip so can't help you there. They are pretty heavy duty though. I have gotten a lot of use from my T8

was nice to see the real test at the end. Too many vids don't show pushing equipment to the limit. you weren't close to the limit, but you tried. nice

If anyone is truly interested in buying a harley rake for a tractor, I recommend fitting your tractor with a hydraulic top link and a hydraulic tilt link for the sway arms. I use one of these almost everyday for prepping lawns and seeding areas. Once you get the hang of using the tilts you can do a real slick job. With the tilts you can fine grade ditches, swales and slope areas without scalping. If anyone wants some tips message me! Lol I guarantee I'm the best Harley rake operator in Ohio

I have top and tilt on my tractor and just got one myself. We'll see if it works in my area or not. Not many of these in this part of the country. How do you tilt with the gauge wheels, just adjust those manually each time or tilt it with the gauge wheels all the way up.

@@papecat you could adjust the wheels. But I have found the tilt works well enough to not mess with them. I just work from the bottom of the slope to the top with the rake angeled up the grade. Just always try to keep a level amount of soil passing over the barrel at all times.

Ive been running a harley rake for years.Looks like your rpms.are to fast and your to deep. Its not a rototiller! Having said that ,Harley rakes are the best power box rakes on the market. But lots more maintenance than others

How much for that sized rake... ??? I have over 10 acres of fields using a 1635L Mahindra... 35 HP... I need to level off bumpy spots in my field so I can pick up the pace while finish mowing... I'm going for that perfectly stripped yard like Wrigley's Field

I am working around pecan trees, leveling the soil for the picker to come through. I have Bermuda grass around the trees that I do want to keep. Does this kill or remove my Bermuda roots?

This will probably pulverize the roots into powder. It sounds like a chain harrow would work for your application. Check them out here www.everythingattachments.com/Hackett-Flexible-Chain-Harrow-SG-with-Draw-Bar-p/lb-chain-harrow-sg-ch.htm Feel free to call us or email sales@everythingattachments.com with any questions. Could this essentially replace a tiller? If having to choose between a tiller or a power rake, I am thinking this is a better option because it might do better running into rocks and roots than a tiller and it sounds like it could serve as a dethatcher for my yard and a box blade for my driveway all in one unit. Sound right or am I better off getting a tiller and a box blade?

Jeff Rainwater it does not. A Harley rake is a surface conditioner. It’s great on heavily compacted gravel roads, especially with grass and weeds growing in the middle. It’s also great at picking small surface rocks into a windrow, to later pickup by hand or with a mechanical rock picker. I used a larger one to level out a bumpy field but for the most part Harley rakes are a max 92” width which is too small for farming. A tiller breaks up hard, compacted soil 6” or more and incorporates organic matter or roots to build biomass. A cover crop is a good example, a Harley rake can’t do anything whereas a tiller would shred the cover crop and incorporate it into the soil to breakdown and build nutrients.

Isn't there one similar to this that worked on gravel roads? That is what I was looking for.
