Another video where I hit the 'Like' button. Great tips. A lot of experienced people know these tips but ignore them. So many times I've seen resellers rush through GW at break-neck speed. They go out empty-handed, leaving the good stuff for me. Look in every nook and cranny and hidey-hole (people stick valuable items in the most odd places). Another good tip for newbies (and I still feel new with so much to learn) is to immediately start an inventory system--big time-saver. You think you will know where everything is when you only have 100 items, but today I will probably spend 1-2 hours looking for an item that sold over the weekend (listed when I first started out) because I thought I'd remember where everything was placed when I began this journey.
Thank you!!! I’m retired but my husband has just announced his retirement from a small church. Of course I took him to your channel to help get him started in the reselling business. Thanks for your time . 😊❤️
Hi, Mike. I’m in the UK and I follow your advice a lot when seeking out items of value. Where I live, which isn’t rural, there are several places I frequently buy from, including thrift (charity) shops, house clearance depots and vintage furniture stores. It’s so important to build a good relationship with store owners/workers so you know what’s available and when. Thank you, buddy. Keep up the great work. Greeting from across the pond!👍🏻🙏
I always enjoy your tips and advice. None of the other channels I've seen get to the nitty gritty level of the entire process like you do, and you keep it fun, witty, energized and informative. You have a gift. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Love tip #1! You made me realize how much I've let that slip by the wayside as my box of business cards have been sitting in my desk NOT being used for over 2 years. My goal this year: go to local estate sales and pass them out, and offer to buy up the books and other items that are leftover. I love selling vintage books! I live in a small town in northern Michigan, so sourcing is a challenge!

Hello. My name is Arnie and I have watched many many of your videos and my wife and I took the leap to be full time eBay and soon Amazon FBA resellers. The video you did about Amazon FBA for books was extremely helpful. Long video but well worth it. We do need a question answered if you would... Where do you get your boxes? Amazon?
I use a box that I get for free from a taco restaurant that has a box they use for their tortilla chips. It is 21X16X14 I will resize it down to about 12 tall once the book are in it. Leaving a final box size of 21X16X12 or 13 Other book guys I know buy them from Walmart and Home Depot. I stack mine saving as many as possible.
I love your videos. I'm retired moved to Winston-Salem 5 years ago I've been in a fishing Auto of the goodwills for as many as my 60 plus years can remember always got some great stuff let me tell you there is nothing in our local Goodwill which is right near the country club the shelves are empty they are not turning over the clothing I don't know what's going on I don't know if it's just this area here I look on UA-cam all the goodwills seem to be filled with stuff I just don't know what's going on I mean there's really nothing to buy absolutely nothing where the pots and pans are there might be six or 10 different pots or pans the shows used to be filled the aisle with all the curtains and the bedspreads and things there's four or five items there there used to be tons of them I see big Mercedes and BMWs and all the fancy expensive cars dropping things off one after the other where is the stuff going I'm confused I need somebody to help me out here I thought I knew everything about the goodwills over the years but and of course they're not going to tell me anything even though I know all the managers they're not going to tell me anything so if anybody has any clue let me know
Many Goodwills are showing THIN INVENTORY. They skim so much now it's really hard to almost justify going in and looking, but you still have to, because you never know when that one item will show up. Most of the stuff should be put in the garbage.
I appreciate the fact that you had the decency to at least get back to me it was very nice of you I won't give up I've got some really nice things I could put on Facebook Marketplace I've gotten some nice antiques over the years I can't complain but I think that Facebook is probably the best you know even the books we used to get wonderful good books I'm right around the corner from Wake Forest University so forth and so on used to be able to go in there and get some you know textbooks and be able to sell them you don't see them there anymore they're selling them to someone else you don't get any nonfiction books out on the shelf it's just all garbagey fiction stuff that nobody wants it's just not the same anymore but what can we do I guess I've enjoyed the hunt for as long as possible and I will still go just push the card around because like you said you never know I've gotten some beautiful things so from now on it'll just be a little treat now and then for me and that's it
You video really helped me. Made business cards and talk to everyone. My girlfriend hates when she goes to yard sailing with me. Lol. I have couple venders that they come to me now and I don’t have to source as much anymore. :-)
@@goldenstatepicker three people so far. I just started my eBay business. You are my favorite channel. Thanks for the information. I do talk to lot of people and my girlfriend hates going to flea markets and yard sales with me. Lol cards do pay off. And I am starting to do wanted ads. I have a co worker at my job that cleans out houses when they get evicted. So he brings stuff in for me. Well that’s what he says where he gets his stuff. He sold me a original Nintendo 1985 for ten dollars with couple games and two controllers. I was going to sell it for parts because I didn’t have hope. But it does work! I am prolly going to keep it to test out games when I find them to re sell.

That is the one thing I always tell others whether it be at garage sales, estate sales or thrift stores. You simply can not get everything. It just isn't realistic in this business. More than likely the same stuff comes back around at some future point. As for the extremely rude pickers/resellers out there that grab stuff right out of other peoples hands or try and run over them to get to things in a thrift store this business will eventually spit them out. I've seen it time and again.
I had a guy dive in on me on golf clubs at a GOODWILL freaked me out. Funny thing I got him last week. I picked several clubs before he came in and made sure that he saw I had them. KARMA!
Great video Mike, cool shirt you're wearing too. Thanks for the detailed explanation of your picking process, I will implement some of those ideas as well. Just one little thing to add, be courteous, and if you decide not to purchase an item, put it back where you found it instead of dumping it the toy section. I frequent the local goodwill outlet in my area, and people there are awful, they load up a cart with a bunch of clothing, take it back into a corner to sort through it then throw what they don't want on top of the books and housewares. It's inconsiderate and drives me nuts. Just remember the Golden Rule and picking will be a lot more fun everyone. Have a Happy & Safe 4th of July my friend and Happy Picking.

Thanks Mike for informative video. Question: When starting eBay, Mercari or other platforms do you need a special name for one's business since I am preparing myself with pictures and descriptions that I saved so far but haven't listed anything yet. Look forward to your response. Oh by the way, I liked your shirt!
Not sure about Mercari, but on Ebay you can name your store anything. If you have a STORE. Otherwise I think it uses you name that you set up your EBAY account with.
Mike you always have very education vids. I’ve only been reselling a year now & I have learned a lot but so much more to learn. Mike, I have a book question. I stumbled on to an American 1st edition Harry Potter hard cover great condition book except for an inscription from grandma & grandpa. Should I take it somewhere to get it graded authenticated or what? I’ve researched a little of the numbers the gold gilding Rawlings or jk Rawlings the #1 on the spine & the cover. But eBay is all over the place with pricing. I need your book expertise.
The only REAL first edition is printed in ENGLAND. I'm just not sure on the American first editions. I think I have 7-8 of them and maybe I should throw one up to see if it hits. Not sure about those. Grading I would say no. Especially if you have writing inside it.
Enjoy your video. I’m ordering business cards this week so a very timely video. How much information do you include on your card? I appreciate your hard work. 👍
Just put out what you like to sell on the card, I have Amps, Collectibles, Electronics, Albums, Cds, Video Games Musical instruments "if you have stuff i'm interested" I'll shoot close up of my card in another video.
Hey Mike. Love your intro. The music, the logo, I mean, makes you feel like you are goin to the beach in Cali 😁 Where did you buy the rocket 🚀 t-shirt. Fantastic! Need one.
I'm thinking of getting cards made and give them to people at yardsales and tell them if the yardsale is over and there is anything they just want to get rid of to message me and I would come get them
I use ATM cash day before as a way to show I took cash out. Otherwise you are on an honor system. I feel the ATM tracks what I'm doing and they can see what is happening there.

Just a general. I probably should do one. Not that hard to do and I might start after my next clearance, garage sale. I do keep a ledger of the receipts of each purchase from thrift stores.

Mike do you use an app to find good books to sell on Amazon or how do you know? I started selling books on Amazon but stopped sending ones as I was only going to make a couple bucks a book. I sell more stuff on ebay but would like to still sell books too to get more money.
I use ScoutIQ it’s abs app that I pay $15 a month to use. Today a video showing me out in the field getting books. Soon an amazon tutorial. Amazon books require that you put in a consistent flow of books. Feed the beast as we say. Takes a few months to build it up but then you can count on a nice steady income from it. I use three pieces of software. ScoutIQ, repriceit, and scan lister.

Hope to see you out there. Many thanks for your time and knowledge in the form of youtube. If we ever meet up you've got first dibs my friend.

Great tips. I have a bad habit of getting stuck in one area looking up comps
That was me when I first started. Move around. Don't do comps until you have looked the store over then do them. Key is to get good where you aren't spending hours in one store. Thanks for watching ALICE
Thanks! Amazing video. Just saw you on commonwealth picker. Great ideas! I’m just starting. I hope to enjoy this and make a nice side income to being a nurse full time.
WOW! Thanks for dropping by Brian. Commonwealth is a solid guy.
It’s amazing that all your videos look like you’re in my garage and there’s nothing in there to sell???? Lol
You came up as a suggestion today and I am already on like my 5th video. I don't sell on amazon, so been skipping those. But great content! I am enjoying your advice and how real you are.
Super thanks Tabatha!

Thanks for the great tips. Enjoyed this video!!
Love that they come to you. Business card is a big key to this. Amazing how many people call. Nice BRETT

I found out today Goodwill doesn’t have bins in Georgia! So bummed.
Big city? Atlanta? How about savers?
Have a Happy & Safe 4th of July my friend and Happy Picking.
love your videos! We are in the Sacramento area! It can be hit or miss for picking!
Thank you Kara. It’s a bit like that right now down here too. Keep hitting them and stuff will come.

Just ordered my business cards Mike! Thanks!
Nice HENRY! Good Luck.
@@goldenstatepicker thank you so very much.
Thanks again for your video brother

Enjoy your video. I’m ordering business cards this week so a very timely video. How much information do you include on your card? I appreciate your hard work. 👍
Just put out what you like to sell on the card, I have Amps, Collectibles, Electronics, Albums, Cds, Video Games Musical instruments "if you have stuff i'm interested" I'll shoot close up of my card in another video.
Hey Mike. Love your intro. The music, the logo, I mean, makes you feel like you are goin to the beach in Cali 😁
Where did you buy the rocket 🚀 t-shirt. Fantastic! Need one.
That was a guy that I got tons of t-shirts from and kept a few. Thanks again Manny.
I like your T-shirt!
Thanks, Mike! Great content and presentation. Good info! 🏆
Thanks a bunch Jan. Glad you are getting value out of them.
I'm thinking of getting cards made and give them to people at yardsales and tell them if the yardsale is over and there is anything they just want to get rid of to message me and I would come get them
That's networking! Do it.
How do you gat receipts or account for garage sale purchases?
I use ATM cash day before as a way to show I took cash out. Otherwise you are on an honor system. I feel the ATM tracks what I'm doing and they can see what is happening there.

Do you keep any kind of inventory records? How do you keep up with what you paid for each item? Thank you for your very informative video!
Just a general. I probably should do one. Not that hard to do and I might start after my next clearance, garage sale. I do keep a ledger of the receipts of each purchase from thrift stores.

Hi love your videos! What is Savers please? I live in the SE and we don’t have a Savers. We do you however have Bargain Hunt and Ollies. Wondering if they are synonymous? Thanks!
Its a big thrift store chain. They have them on the East coast too. Probably very similar to what you have.
