LOL... the UK doesn't use US dollars. $26000 = £44000, enough to get you a more than decent enough E60 M5 or 996 Turbo. You can probably find a great E60 M5 for $32000 and a 996 for just a little bit more. And don't forget the taxes.
Here in Australia, Both cars are well over $100,000AUD
If the M5 is well under $40k in the US, then how can it be $100k over there if $40k converted to AUD is somewhere like $45k?
Not to answer my own question, but may be it has something to do with the fact that Austrailia is way down south from Europe, so there will be import costs.

But at least the Multipla has three front seats, something that few cars have (I'm guessing they can't afford the McLaren F1). But there are plenty of alternative hybrids (mainstream ones that is).

but also bmw 5 series and mercedes E class and the price is the same so I always go to a bmw when going to a taxi :D

Can we all just stop hating on the Prius? It’s not that bad, I don’t like it myself, I wouldn’t buy one, but if someone does, they like it and it’s their life. Kind of like us car guys and sports cars. Non car guys don’t like it, but you never see them hate on sports cars. We all need to learn to respect each other’s life choices, and be nice. Even if they do own a Prius.

+Kristian benz all eletric and hybrid cars are worse to the nature the moment they are made, mainly because of the batteries. They are WAY BETTER while being used and oh damm does it feels to have low consumption on hybrids/free riding on eletrics (if you charge on charging stations)
@@joseluislopes3956 well they are comparable to combustion engine cars because of the environmental cost to make them but that doesn't take into account that battery technology is improving and economies of scale mean that it will be less and less harmful to the environment when more alectric cars are produced. Also once old cars start to be recycled the precious metals can be rused so they won't have to be mined again. Plus more and more renewable electricity plants are being made so while they might be comparable now,, eventually electric cars will be much more environmentally friendly than regular gas powered cars

Citroen C4 Cactus (if you're going to drive something controversial, at least make sure it's a nice car. And you have leftover cash for a second car. Also, it's very economical)
Skoda Superb Combi (I'd avoid the fraudulous diesel, but it's infinitely more car. The rear legroom competes with an S-Class)
BMW 3-Series Touring (it'll lack either power or equipment, but it'd still be better than a Prius)
Alfa Romeo Giulia (isn't out yet, but I'm sure you can get one for Prius money)

You are clueless. The don't understand how hybrids work.
1. No more fuel is used making a Prius than any other vehicle.
2. If you are so concerned about the toxic nature of batteries, toss out your mobile. Prius batteries are guaranteed for 10 years, and can be refurbished.
3, The batteries int he Prius are charged by a combination of the petrol engine and regenerative braking, For newer versions that can be plugged in, the amount of electricity required is a fraction of the energy required to push a petrol vehicle, and the electricity can be generated using in a variety of means that leave no carbon footprint.
Enjoy you petrol vehicles while you can. In the not too distant future, you will all be driving electric vehicles.

The Prius is made by, and for, people that don't care about driving. it's so numb behind the wheel, I would be dead from falling asleep behind the wheel. and Toyota still has not revealed the true cost of replacing the battery cells that make its electric engine work, and thus make it a hybrid. without it, then that miserably tiny gas engine has to carry the weight of everything else. assuming it would just not flat out refuse to operate at all. it's made to be as disposable as a condom, in the name of environmentalism. these are among many of the reasons I despise the Toyota Prius.
You want dead steering? Try a ford escape. The prius has more guts and more connected steering. Yep, it's that bad.
I have a hybrid Escape (boxy Kentucky built Kuga), but it looks like the normal petrol version. It has NO power, so I can leave my foot to the floor all day and focus on my driving line to get the most out of it. The regular car has a 70:30 front heavy weight distribution, so the extra battery helps handling a bit, but I have still had the back end take the lead in winter, on Hakkapeliittas no less. Consumption is always 8-9L/100Km (AWD model) no matter how I drive it.

I don't get people who buy lame new cars instead of badass used ones. they aren't helping the environment either because everytime someone doesn't buy a new one one of the older cars gets to drive more miles in its lifetime which in result means lower emissions overall, since the production of a car is very harmful to the environment. its just smarter cooler and more environmentally friendly to drive a used v10 m5 instead of a prius

I am a car guy and I actually like Toyota Prius. It's great family car, super reliable, quiet, economical, quite spacious and comfortable, everything you would want from a family car.

If you are not into cars , than having a true plug-in hybrid is ok . Fuel is expensive , so it is much cheaper to drive on EV , but of you need to have a roadtrip , than you can use engine . Do not get me wrong - I use my grandfathers Sierra 1.8cl which is by modern standards a gas guzzler . I instaled LPG so fuel almost costs about half as much , but for local driving ( up to 30km/20mi) I would like to put in front axle from 4x4 version and atach electric drivetrain on front axle . Batteries in trunk/boot , and simply get them out before roadtrip to make room for bag which would 10 minutes in garage .

I think Prius is OK. It looks OK and is indeed economical. I hate people who think that they are saving the planet by buying one. To make one more energy is being used than Merc S-classe. Toyota was spot on with marketing.

+Alexander Shepard Diesels are really worth it IF and only IF the bulk of your driving is highway. Hybrids at their worst do as well as diesels in highway mpg and often do nearly double mpg of diesels in city because the engine cuts off.
Prius' are the ugliest price of shit in the world. If you want a family car get something that has character, runs nicely, looks slick and beautiful and also don't get a hybrid because after a few years, the "economic" engine leaks chemicals which are toxic

TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST. I am a very big car nut, but i drove the 2014 Prius V III and it was one of my favorite cars to drive. You have to get used to the silence, but when you put it into the POWER mode it actually feels really zippy around the city. I would rather drive an SI or WRX but it was really nice, economical car. Dont hate, just my opinion.

Well, it's quite simple. That car started the polar bear friendly aspect of automotive world, which every petrolhead hates. It's been used by celebs who just drives em to show off world that they do care about earth, which they really don't. So it became a fake representation. Then there is the looks. It's just too amazingly boring. It isn't exactly fun to drive car, but utter soulless . It's just an overall definition of Boring. I think these are good enough reasons
because it's a hypocrits car. The polution saved by being a hybrid and running on electric mode, is countered and infact nullified by the horrendous polution created when it's produced, which is way more than the one emitted in the production of a regular car.

My grandparents own a Prius and i also drive not so often. I have to say that it's not a bad "car" but I still prefer my E39 BMW 535i. I mean... 8 cylinders are much more entertaining than 4. I think the best thing about the Prius is its audio system. JBL sounds amazing!
