Buy 6 of them. Take the 8 wheels off the extra 2 dollies and then put 2 on each of 4 dollies to add support to the center. That should help spread the load for moving around and support the weak/stress points.
Great video !! The whole time I’m yelling at the dog “SAVE YOURSELF”. Lol. Awesome video. Harbor Freight should give you your money back, you just helped them sell a million more of those things.
Thank you so much for the great idea. We bought 4 this evening and were able to move a small 2 seater out of the way of another car. Thanks for the tip.
Modern cars tend to be heavier compared to their counterparts from history. My 2015 2 door manual Honda Civic is 3000lbs. A first gen Fbody shouldn't be much more than that as they are lightest of the Fbodys.
I have these and use them for moving transmissions, and small block engines. They have a duty rating of 500 pounds. I'm all for saving money, but this is a dangerous move. And yes, I've done plenty of sketchy things. You can get the steel ones at northern tool for $49 a pair on sale and with to the $20 off a $100 purchase makes is roughly $80 for a set of 4. Love the Pontiac BTW 😀
The 18x12 in have a work frame load rating of 1000 pounds, the casters are 500 pounds per wheel. same work load rating as the metal haul masters. I would run a furring strip along the ends though to keep the tire centered. I think he's fine, I wouldn't get under it though, and think the haul masters would be better.
I can't disagree that these dollies are a bargain for what you need, but from a safety point, they are just not suitable. There is just too much lateral stress on the wood as you push the vehicle and the screws or nails that hold it together will not give you the margin of safety that you need to hold up 3000lbs or more. Better still to get the ones, even the cheap ones, from HF made of steel. And I agree, it is not easy to push and move these vehicles by yourself, given the wheels that come with these dollies. The casters do not easily follow the direction that they need to point to for one to easily maneuver around the garage.
If you don't need to move the car around much, you can just buy 2 of the dollies and move the rear end first. I leave the jack in the middle lifting some of the weight off the dollies. The jack can roll and the dollies will roll better if less weight on them. Get a good ratchet strap and you can attach to your workbench or wall and the car to move the rear end. Then put the dollies on the front tires and leave the jack in the middle and ratchet the front where you want it.
Love this video!! You are amazing!!! Love the Pontiac firebird!! BTW do you have video on that Porsche??? Good Luck with all your work!!! You have a subscriber!!!
They worked good tip! Loving the Pontiac rally wheels, does the trunk deck have two holes drilled in it on the right hand corner? They look like the holes for a “400” badge.
Hello great video man . Really needed to find this gem with what little cash im working with this seems like a good possibility. i have a quick question though. My bmw 335i was recently victim to the cold streets of SanJose CA. and was left on bricks all four rims with tires gone.. don't know how they did it so quickly and for me to wake up to that when I'm beraly getting by it was a blow to the stomach but yeah my question is you thing this would work for me My car weights 3,946 lbs ?
Don't think it's worth it. The furniture dollies are $48-$60 set 4. 1000lbs cap. each, wood Basic metal car wheel dollies $100- $130 set 4. 1500lbs cap. Each, metal with a locking wheel

I thought about doing this but watching this video. After hearing the wood creak and strain, I think I’ll spend extra for metal wheel dollies.
They worked great for my 1967 Porsche!!! But the 1967 Firebird is about 1500 more than the Porsche
Great video !! The whole time I’m yelling at the dog “SAVE YOURSELF”. Lol. Awesome video. Harbor Freight should give you your money back, you just helped them sell a million more of those things.
lol my poor puppy lol thanks for watching and yea I think they need to just set me up with a whole store lol

Glad it helped! cheap and easy fix to a problem!
I used the same dolly's to move my vw bug around the garage. Can't beat the price. 👍
LOL I plan to pull them off my Firebird and used them to move my 67 Porsche around this weekend!! Best $40 Garage Buy! Thanks for watching!
@@ArrowheadGarage whatd your FB weigh at the time?
That's probably works in a compact all plastic modern cars. But that's a good quick solution for a tied garage
Oh yea, the weight of that first gen f body car was pushing the limits!

I've used these for that. Sweeping the floor helps. Even something small slows the welheels
I agree, too many shortcuts here. More cleanliness and organization would go a long way towards helping you achieve your goals.

@@Reloadeez I agree with you, definitely keep is centered and don't get under it 😅

I agree, 100%, that’s so effing redneck!
I think that these will be perfect for my little MGB 👍
Yes they will, they worked very well with my 1967 Porsche 911

Great idea. I would've strapped the dolly to the tire.

Thanks man, yes it does! Not sure if that was stock for the inline 6 cars or my brother swapped the trunk lid out at some time:
If this worked for your Pontiac firebird
Then Should work for my 2000 hatchback civic👌🏽
Thanks for making this video 👌🏽👌🏽
Oh hell yes it will hold that Civic, thanks for watching!

don't know how they did it so quickly and for me to wake up to that when I'm beraly getting by it was a blow to the stomach but yeah my question is
you thing this would work for me
My car weights
3,946 lbs ?
It might work, but I am guessing at that weight you might be on the losing end... SORRY :(
does it work? yes. is it sketchy as hell? also yes.
lol yes there is a thin line between work and work butttttttt sketchy lol
Cute dog mate
Shane, she is the best damn shop dog I have ever had!!!!!!!
I mean, if 4 of them can more an entire car, one can certainly hold a k series.
I bet they would do the job!
Take off the wheels and bolt to some2by 4s at least. My volume was off and i still heard that dolly scream😂
parking brake needs to be set to keep the back tires on
Yep or she will roll roll roll lol
My Mercedes weights 3990 curb weight you guys think it’ll work for me?
That might be pushing it, it does an "okay" job with my 3250 Firebird. Thanks for watching.
This possibly should have been titled what not to do even on a budget.
Spend the extra money and purchase something to perform the job safely.
Hey, I don't mind if it kills me if I can save a few bucks!😁
If it breaks the wheel or tire just drops to ground . That likely won't kill me .
So. Not a posi rear end
Is a Posi rear end
The right tool for the right job, or don't do it at all.
Don't think it's worth it.
The furniture dollies are $48-$60 set 4. 1000lbs cap. each, wood
Basic metal car wheel dollies $100- $130 set 4. 1500lbs cap. Each, metal with a locking wheel
DAMN DOLLY CRACKING AND STILL SAYS “IT WORKS” 😂😂 50 bucks eventually it will break and you’ll spend another 50 😅😅 don’t make sense for me
don't waste your money. these things (even the bigger ones) absolutely suck for this purpose
For $10 each they have been olding up and moving both my '67 Firebird and '67 Porsche around.
