Wanton mee. Nasi briyani. Chicken rice. Laksa. Not forgetting Sio Bak. Prata. Thosai. Mee rebus. Mee goreng. And my usual kway chap.. braised duck.. nasi lemak.. mee pok.. hoowwwww to pick a favourite??? 😂
😂 because it's below road level.. there's another unique stall called "SO FOOD" selling briased duck with spinich and mushrooms. Just went to dapao today
Hello Mahani.. haha.. it's quite hidden right? Another new place for you to Jalan Jalan and kaypoh kaypoh 😁.. today I went Jenal Jetty.. Singapore's last fishing village.. but alamak.. not open to public. If not can go Lepak and watch beautiful sunset 😊
The 75 year old that calls you uncle... sure knows how to promote her stall! But it does look good and I"m hooked on her tiny bits of fried lard. Got to try that sometime. Looks like the bakery is catered more for the "western" residents there, love their bread slicer.
Yeah.. that bakery has lots of great stuff but at a premium price too.. but the quality is also different from the usual local bread shops.. more atas 😄
That "old school" local donut also looks interesting, looks like the kind of local donuts sometimes sold at traditional provision shops or teh tarik stores last time. Must eat just for old time sake.
Who would have imagined that a bitter smelly bean would go sooo well with shrimp chilli and rice.. one of my must have too whenever I see it. Think it must be good for our system too 🥴🤤
Click immediately after seeing the video! Never seen donuts in a hawker center before. Plus I've never been to Empress Market either!! Great video Piggypuggy!! Good to see you back
@@Piggypuggy Ouch! I hope your feet feels better. Been missing seeing these hawkers videos haha Yes! Vietnam is getting better. I will also be up and running in a week or two!
Hi there....you featured another one of those places that I have never visited. Half a million for those HDB's, unbelievable! Do the new HDBs have washer/dryer built in? It was tough back in those days when we have to wash our clothes by hand and hang them out to dry with that long bamboo pole, heavy too! Even with laundromats, it is still inconvenient, nothing compared to having your own washer/dryer at your disposal, hehe! Thanks for featuring the vegetarian stall, so cheap with offerings less than $3, plus pizza and burgers, wow! Indonesian food is really authentic. It is hard to find good authentic ones here in CA. My favorite is that sweet lady that wakes up at 5 am in the morning to make all that pastries and donuts. Wow, her donut really looks good, soft and fluffy!!! Too bad it was all sold out, I would love to see her pandan cake. Old timers are really hardworking...always admire their energy and determination. Lucky you, a free plate of CKT, yummmm! Can't believe the bakery you featured is so American! They even have sourdough, which is typical in CA. Thanks for showing us Empress Mkt., nice to look at the murals as well. Until next time...👍😁
Haha.. I remembered those days where there wasn't even washing machine spin dry function.. gotta hang indoors first before slapping them onto the super long pole.. I was always worried about falling out when trying to muscle out that 10kg pole and Having to SLOT THEM into that tiny hole! 🤣 have you tried making donuts?? I’m sure they’d be Super too! 😋 Happy Deepavali 😂
I could hear the crunch of the donut...must be very crispy on the outside. Curious about her curry puff. One of the few hawkers who speak English rather than Mandarin.
It’s a simple donut made with love.. it’s just got the taste and texture I knew of as a little kid many years back. I’m sure her other items would be of superb standards too. Interesting character.. “I happy can already” 😄👏🏼👍🏼
Great Review for this often overlooked HC! Thanks for the headsup on the WTM, Fishball Noodle and CKT. The homecooked chye peng and duck kway teow here also not bad. Give it a shot the next round.
Looks like you’re the guru around Holland area 😀 I had originally wanted to find a rather unique duck stall.. called so food or something.. but after the BCM and CKT.. I KO already.. not forgetting that donut too 😂 oh.. that WTM line is crazy long.. even 3 angmos in the line 😄
@@Piggypuggy Yes, very delicious. Nothing beats eating the real thing. I think they declined coz the space is very small & already quite bz with staff + customers (think capped at 2 to 3 pple)inside at any one time. They do have 1-2 small tables outside the shop I recall
4:43 - 4:52 So hawkers that don't wear white "chef" uniform are not serious about their work? Have you ever think about the whole sentence carefully before using it...if that's the case don't ever visit any hawker store where the owner doesn't wear white "chef" uniform

Those simply irresistible donuts from the aptly named "Pastry for Life".... I must make pilgrimage to meet the Empress & other stalls Ho Kai Siao 👍.
Haha.. sometimes it may not look like much from the outside.. but always follow where the folks go for and you might just find some hidden gems 💎

I would die for that petai chilli sambal!!!!
Eat with warm white rice, and a glass of iced tea, it's heavenly dish

You need to do a more in depth review of Bakery Bera next time round. Their breads, pastries & cruffins are lit!
I asked to film some of the fresh pastries coming out of those giant ovens but they declined.. it looks and smells even better

The wanton mee run by 2 elderly sisters & their brother - old school! The bakery also shiok
The duck stall, the porridge stall but must come in the morning, the unassuming Indian vadai opposite the jurongpier noodle stall
