I love her cool jazz style and unique voice. It shows how versatile 80s music was. It wasn't just about synth pop. There were so many different styles in that decade. I recommend "The Sweetest Taboo" by Sade.
Nice... I wish more reactors covered Sade! She's one of my all time favorites! Don't fret... Sade will bring you into a whole new comfort zone! There isn't one song by her that I do not like. I've seen her live as well and she was amazing. There's just something about this woman. You should do the official music video for "Cherish the Day"! Mesmerizing!
Ok so Sade is actually the name of the Band. It's derived from her middle name, Folasade. Her full name is Helen Folasade Adu , Sade sounds better 😉. She is born in Nigeria but raised in London. This is her style music, & she's probably responsible for about half of the children conceived in the 80s and 90s (baby making music) This video is actually part of a 3 story arc (the word Temor ,on the window is in 2 other videos, with the same man) shes now in her 60s but looks exactly like she does here , its insane. This is off her 1st album Diamond Life (if not mistaken)
Her songs are always so amazing, it always does my heart good to know that there are such BEAUTIFUL musical notes inside people. I think this kind of track could EASILY be released today.. to a hungry audience that wants something real. Music today is so overly produced and mechanical. It's also amazing that a woman as petite as Sade can have such a strong, powerful voice with such range. Love it.
Sade is my favorite (and possibly the best) active band today. And the fact that they've been at it since the early 80s just blows me away. Without Sade, the world would not know the genre of "sophistipop." Paul Spencer Denman (bassist) is a wizard at making the simplest basslines engulfingly rich.
I love this song to bits. I remember hearing this one decades ago, and then went on to listen lover's rock album back in my teens. She's an icon. And the band is incredible.
100% you should do "like a tattoo", first time I heard it I thought it was another beautiful love song, but then I was pretty shocked to learn it was actually a song about PTSD written by Sade Adu herself, she's amazing.
Thanks for taking my suggestion. Also thanks for editing it so it wasn't blocked by YT. Seeing your reaction to this was cool. I was hoping you'd love it like I do. Side note: Sade is Nigerian/British and briefly moved to Jamaica and stayed in the U.S. for a while but is British and lives in England now, I think. The band itself is also collectively known as Sade, taken from her full name - Helen Folasade Adu. I bought all her CDs back in the day and grew up with her music. Even have her recent albums. Always a vibe, always distinctly SADE, always a groove. She is just in her own lane, timeless, quality music. Good to see you enjoy her unique tone and clarity, sultry smooth voice, her emoting phrasing and the crescendos in the song. The build ups and breaks. The horn section, percussion and keyboards/piano were on point as well. One of my faves! Visually...the next single from this album continues from this video - The Sweetest Taboo. You should check that one out next! Great reaction! 🔥💯🔥❤😎
Hands down!!!!! The best reaction to Sade I have had the pleasure watching and you sir, certainly know your jazz music front and back. Great job and please do more- maybe Love is stronger than pride please. Thank you again.
My favourite Sade song. It's touching and heartbreaking. Impossible not to be moved by the depth of the emotion. She is fabulous and the band is top notch too.
Sade is in a class all their own. They have no competition because nobody else can do what they do. They've taken 10 year breaks between their last few albums. You're simply not going to find a bad Sade song. I'd suggest "Your Love is King", "Sweetest Taboo", or "No Ordinary Love" for your next reaction. Also, please react to some of her live performances like "Cherish The Day" live from 2011.
This song is just amazing! Again, I highly recommend, Cherish the Day! I’ve seen a few requests for, Kiss of Life and that song is great too! Looking forward to more Sade! Thank you! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
Been a fan of Sade since her first album. I saw her live in 2011 it was amazing 😍 Watch her incredible performance at Live Aid she owned that immense crowd at Wembley Stadium!
I love this guy... he gets SADE. He reflects on the complexities of Love, the complexities of the music and the human condition with love. He gets it!!!!!
If you haven't done it yet, because I know you listened to this some time ago, you really should go watch her live performance of this. It's amazing vocally and musically.
I loved your reaction, and so loved your surprise at how this musical piece would sound,..yes the 80's had a lot of innovation, with techno, electronic, New Wave, yeah 80's is the home of Flock of Seagulls, Devo, The Buggles, Ultravox..but the innovation wasn't always like brand, brand new, some groups went back to basics, big band of the 1940's, just using it in a new way, with reggae too, Madness, Spandau Ballet, Dexy's Midnight Runners, UB40, Culture Club, and they also incorporated elements of jazz, Simply Red, Bryan Ferry, Sade`, or very, very close to jazz,..jazz was still king, some groups had their own, some used artists established jazz players like David Sanborn, the Yellow Jackets(huh, do check out Four Corners alnum, Indigo is my fav, they have a fantastic saxophonist), when Sade` hit the scene, first impressions of I guess critics was torch song singer, you know like, Lady Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn(who was still alive when I came along, as a kid on Ed Sullivan Show, Johnny Csrson, incredible singer, and I read in her bio, a voice few humans, if not no human on the planet, at the time could reach I think the octaves she could, do check her out, she was extraordinary), and don't get me started on Lady Ella Fitzgerald, so glad you checked Sade` out, do keep going, Punch Drunk(instrumental, superb, quintessential jazz, straight up), Maureen(so love that song, reminds me of me and my friend Rip), ...enjoy, do enjoy,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
This song is amazing and the Marvin Gaye tributes in this song are so good. There's the obvious "I want you... but I want you to want me, too", but there's the less obvious riff on Trouble Man at the end. Also, I haven't searched through the comments to see if anyone else has mentioned it, but Sade is the name of the band. The lead singer's name is Sade Adu, but Sade is still considered a band
This song is amazing! Sade is phenomenal! Listen, you MUST see her perform this LIVE from San Diego. It is on UA-cam! I would love to see your reaction to her singing this LIVE! And again it must be the concert LIVE IN SAN DIEGO which you can find on UA-cam. I also think you should react to her song BULLET PROOF SOUL.
What a great analysis. And I agree. This song could not come out today without brutal criticism of romanticizing abuse. Lana Del Rey has a song called ultra violence that came out around 2014-2015, also delving into toxic love and she was highly criticized for “romanticizing abuse” rather than just taking the song for what it is… a reality for many people.
Is it a crime? Yes indeed it is a crime that this song wasn't a bigger success. I think probably because the song was too mature for American and British pop songs at the time. The lead single Sweetest Taboo was a top 5 single in the US, and deservedly so. If Adele were to do a cover of "Crime" I bet it would do exceptionally well. The song suggestions from other commenters for Sade are great. But my favorite of Sade's that I recommend is "I Never Thought I'd See The Day". It wasn't a released song. Though to my surprise (and I flipped out when I heard it) it was used as background mood music in the movie True Lies. During the scene that Jamie Lee Curtis' character did a seductive strip-tease dance in the dark for Arnold Schwarzenegger's character. It was sexy and brilliantly comedic. I recommend the movie too.
Sade has an absolute voice, she can be silky and breathy as Janet Jackson or powerful and explosive as Anita Baker and Whitney Houston. Hands down to the Queen of Brittish Music! Please react to Frankie's First Affair song.
The paradox of Sade is that they are known for ballads and mid-tempo songs, yet they have stated that their music is meant to be played 'loudly'. In that vein, songs like Is it a Crime and No Ordinary Love are best understood when heard live in concert: ua-cam.com/video/3FeserOHtgg/v-deo.html
Speaking of songs about toxic, abusive men that wouldn't fly today, try the extremely underrated 'Still' by Macy Gray. It's disappointing that art today isn't allowed to express the darker realities of modern life.
@@bridgethegapreactions Good you're already familiar with her biggest hit. I understand Macy's vocals will be a departure from the norm here but give the song a listen. You will not be unmoved, I promise. The official video is here on UA-cam.
As a pop/soul/jazz music fan who grew up in the 80s and 90s who loves real singers and bands, two UK artistes standout for me and hold their own with the best America had to offer: Sade and Amy Winehouse. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the industry has been on a steady decline since the mid 2000s.
Skip that one. It was lip synced. Just how things were done at those big events back then. I'm partial to the Lovers Live performance. The 2011 and Live from San Diego shows are great too.
This song is nothing short of a masterpiece
It's genius. I've also done Sweet Taboo and will be getting to some more Sade soon for sure
She was the most important female artist in Britain for decades.
Hmm there's Kate Bush. But Sade is up there.
I love her cool jazz style and unique voice. It shows how versatile 80s music was. It wasn't just about synth pop. There were so many different styles in that decade. I recommend "The Sweetest Taboo" by Sade.

I'll give that a go, thanks!

Ooh, I was going to ask about the video. I'll check out the other parts. Cool that she's from London!
Great Reaction to Sade! Please listen to her LIVE! Is it a crime, your jaw will drop & will not be disappointed. She & her band are AMAZING!!
from a production stand point I have never seen a more perfect concert, then add her performance and the bands and it is something that fill your soul
My all time female artist...and probably my fave song of hers...it hits the soul in just the right way....love her
Her songs are always so amazing, it always does my heart good to know that there are such BEAUTIFUL musical notes inside people. That band is straight up bad ass and very underrated.
What a great artist! Her voice and sensibility. This is pure magic. Listen "No ordinary love". I really appreciate your choices 🙌
Thank you, Sade will be a regular on this channel for sure!
Sade is my favorite (and possibly the best) active band today. And the fact that they've been at it since the early 80s just blows me away. Without Sade, the world would not know the genre of "sophistipop."

One of the best jazz songs of the last 50 years. Prove me wrong.
I love this song to bits. I remember hearing this one decades ago, and then went on to listen lover's rock album back in my teens. She's an icon. And the band is incredible.

🔥💯🔥❤😎
I'm on it!
Better than original song is the live in San Diego in 1992, highly recommend.
She's from British Nigeria. Voice of an angel!
This music is clever....something that seems to be lacking nowadays. Great arrangement, brilliant voice.
Hands down!!!!! The best reaction to Sade I have had the pleasure watching and you sir, certainly know your jazz music front and back. Great job and please do more- maybe Love is stronger than pride please. Thank you again.
She is so underrated, though her songs are on another emotional level. ❤
My favourite Sade song. It's touching and heartbreaking. Impossible not to be moved by the depth of the emotion. She is fabulous and the band is top notch too.
It's a perfect song imo. Has it all.
Sade is in a class all their own. They have no competition because nobody else can do what they do. They've taken 10 year breaks between their last few albums. It's a masterpiece. She was the queen of London 80s Wine Bar culture
You absolutely nailed this. Very inciteful thoughts. Great reaction.
Love Deluxe, I Couldn’t Love You More. Try it!
Queen of Smooth Jazz!!
This song is just amazing! Again, I highly recommend, Cherish the Day! I’ve seen a few requests for, Kiss of Life and that song is great too! Looking forward to more Sade! Thank you!

You're correct. She's not American. She's Nigerian. Lived in England. She's the whole package. Class, beauty, intelligence, and talent.
One of my favorite songs and didn’t know there was a video! You’d love The Sweetest Taboo
I suggest you listen and watch the video to Sade's Nothing Can Come Between Us!
Fun fact: Sade was indeed from London, but they (Sade herself and the band) were much, much bigger and more successful in America.
She was huge in the UK too ;-)
Sade - Live Bring Me Home (2011) you can catch the entire concert on You Tube - you life will be changed forever
Incredible song...yes. she's British!!! First 3 albums = a dozen+ great songs

As you liked Sade, check out Never as Good as the First Time - uptempo but jazzy hues.
One of my favorite songs is ‘Cherish The Day’ by Sade. It was released in the 90s. You can do a reaction video to that if you like.
Yes! This one!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Do more of heeeer please!!!! ❤️
Listen to her song "Pearls" and see if you can get through without crying...
Thank you, Sade, for being God's gift and sharing it with us! ❤️

I've got to get to some more Sade soo !
It was a hit in the United States. The whole album was a banger. She was bigger in the United States than in Britain.
To true Sade fans this song is never underrated!! It is my favorite of hers and I think is the case for alot of her fans.
My girl & my jam!
Her voice is like honey for my ears lol!
Amazing Reaction
She is from Nigeria!!
Sweetest taboo and soldiers of love are great
Love her!
Can't believe you didn't know Sade.

Please react to Frankie's First Affair song.
Nice thoughtful reaction
