I am back! OMG.
In this video we are going to fix the broken stuff in the basement. Or, are we? Mortal Kombat II has a broken Polo monitor. The Atari Paperboy has power supply problems. Can we fix these issues in this video?
Enjoy the vids? Consider supporting me! Thank you, John! youtube.stream... - Ігри
JOHN CANNOT FIX AN ARCADE BUT HE FIXED OUR HEARTS WITH A NEW VIDEO! YEAAAAH!
I think the mainboard on the flyback has a short at this point it has to be a problem wit the mainboard. Holy shit I typed this before he showed the crack lmao. I went to college for electronic hardware repair and engineering had soldering clas dc/ac circuits class, logic class, networking, fiber optics, etc.however as soon as started my career my back and legs went out due to birth defect I didn't think would get the better of me for another 10 or so years. But a car accident exacerbated the problem. I would work for John repairing his stuff for him if I lived by him lol. Nobody here where I live collects arcades. I live in South Texas was planning on moving back to Denver back when I had gotten out of college but it wasn't in the cards.
😂😂😂
TRUTH. He's been missed!
@@Andronicus87 DUDE come back to Denver; I came out here 6 months ago from the east cost & the job market out here is BEAUTIFUL
Glad to see,you back man! We were getting worried!
It's been too long! Glad to see you're back.
Great to hear all is well and you're new setup looks AWESOME! Wohooo!!! John's back!!! Yay, so happy :)
Welcome back John. Very much enjoy working on my games with your videos in the background!
Just what we needed! The man is back fixing stuff. You neglected your cabs and they are breaking down from lack of usage
You're back and the basement is improved
Glad your doing vids again John the basement looks good
YAYAYAYAYAYA hes back!!!!
You're glad his _what_ is doing vids again?
Missing your videos too, Jason!
Regarding the Galaxian. Bruno from Belgium had such a machine and he kept it running all the time. He just gave it away to a museum but he might still be able to help.
Sometimes you just need a break. Good to see you back. Seeing your videos is one of the reasons I started collecting and doing videos.
52:19 That was an impressive loogie!
holy shit! im not kidding, i was JUST watching your older videos like 10 mins ago thinking about where the hell you went haha
I'm beyond thrilled to see you back. I did a double take when I saw this video was up. I'm afraid that If that was my Mortal Kombat machine, it would probably be in the same condition as the popcorn maker at this point.
Great to see future & past John back in action 👍
welcome back! we missed ya!
So happy to see you back!
Welcome back John . Good to see new video.
So very happy to see you back and enjoy all of your videos regardless of the outcome!!!!
Glad to see you back John, sorry the video seemed to be such hard work
I was so happy when I got this notification Holy shit, glad to have you back, you're a big reason I'm into arcade games now
*Andrewb here. The two PS'es are factory, as Atari added the switcher to supplement the 5V, as the AR doesn't put out enough. You don't need a full kit for the AR either. Just replace the two 2N3055's, and that will likely fix it. They get weak, and measure fine with no load, then measure low under load. I see it all the time on the AR's I rebuild. Do not replace the headers, it isn't necessary, and they aren't the problem. Also recapping the whole thing is a waste of money, just keep it original, as the caps are still fine. Also FYI, the audio amps are TDA2030's, not the TDA2002's used on AR-II's. Just replace those and your sound will be back*
Hey, Andy! Thanks for the reply. I already ordered the AR-III rebuild. Maybe I'll just swap out the transistors you mention. And, do have TDA2030A audio amps already.
@@Johnsarcade Cool. I just hate seeing people replacing tons of stuff they don't need, when they don't know the exact issue. Try the transistors first, and keep the rest as original as possible. it'll be worth more in another 20-30 years, like vintage cars today. :) Congrats on the new vid.
Thanks for coming back Have missed my JOHNS ARCADE FIX
Funny, I wore my “John’s Arcade” T-Shirt today after quite some time and on the same day John puts out a new video. Coincidence? Probably not. 🤣. Welcome back John! Glad to see you back.
This is my first new video from your channel....even though I've watched nearly 80% of your vids!
Ha! Welcome aboard. :)
Glad to see you back missed seeing videos
Welcome back John! We missed you!!
All the reorg and you kept the busted popcorn unit?
So glad to see you back. Sorry nothing went as planned. I know you are very busy these days with VGO. Love any content here you can serve up. Awesome news on Galaxian. Hope they can get it back up. A Hanger update would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm glad you came back john
Yeah johns back, glad to see all is well.
So glad to see you back John!!!
LOL past and future John! Hilarious! Get at least it isn't your fault.
Great to see you back. Missed your videos.
Well, John has said before there are times he takes breaks, he's a not a full time UA-camr. I can't blame you for needing a break, editing, working on the cabinets, troubleshooting. The weather I figured was another isue, which you have mentioned in the garage. I'm glad you were able to take a break, refresh, but after this video with MKII and Paperboy I was thinking you might just say, "guys, I'm taking another 4 month break.." Anyway, you're my favorite UA-cam host and it feels great to see you back, John. Thanks for sharing your hobby and your time with us. It has be a pleasure to watch.
Thanks, man!
Great to see you back making videos. I appreciate your help.
Good to see you back, best wishes from the UK
Great to see you back John
This is so much fun! Downloading on my phone to watch on my lunch!
Wei-ya replacement! Also the black and red vans 🔥
WELCOME BACK JOHN!
Hey nice to see you didn’t trade all your games for smoker pellets. I love you redid the basement but you didn’t get rid of the popcorn machine lol
Thank god your back i was getting nervous
John, nice to see you back!
Welcome back John, missed you buddy
We missed you- I was going through withdrawal
Good to see you back John
Hey John, so glad to see a new video from you this morning. I understand the frustration you're having with the MKII monitor. Would a Universal replacement chassis possibly work? I've seen them on eBay for about 100 bucks!
Hey John, I love your new look for the arcade.
"My Paperboy is dead." - John
Hi John!!, great to see you back!!
Hey John, glad to hear you enjoyed your break, but also glad to have you back! I know you said you're cutting down on travelling, but any chance you're going to the Southern Fried Gameroom Expo this year?
Welcome back, John!!
IF you didn't fixed it yet. Check focus too high, it can arc inside from focus grid to screen grid. Another suspect is the yoke doing short circuit.
OMG he's back, So happy.
Best UA-cam New video alert ever! Glad Your Back John!!
You're glad his what is back?
And why do you like random capitals?
Welcome back John
Been browsing all your videos and this is the one where Journey arcade cabinet disappeared. Where is it? Loved the restauration! :o
That bloody monitor is cursed John.
I just purchased a pole position because of your podcast LOL. Say a prayer for me I'm going to need it thanks. Gary from small-town Indiana
Glad you’re back! 👍👍👍
Galaxian 3: Don't send the laserdisc player to Franz.
WHat about Ben Heck would he work on it?
For all you know, Franz might have died working on that LD. Killed in the line of duty, now don't you feel bad?
Franz is probably buried under a pile of LDs he was going to fix.
Good to see you back. Music rules!!!
John! You’re back!
Get rid of that Polo and get a Wells Gardner K7000! Great to see you back ;)
Holy crap welcome back! 😮
And he's BACK! Finally. Pffft, don't do that to us again, man.
hes doing it again, leaving us
Hey John! Glad to see you back buddy :-)
The games are drying probably because of all the Beer Arcades. I travel a lot around the US and see that almost every medium to large towns have one or two( which is fine it’s me ). Glade to spend my money at these places keeping them alive.
Paperboy... I noticed that the cabinet fan is in the wrong place. Did you move it to get it out of your way or has it been there all along? Its supposed to be blowing directly on the ARIII. Could very well be why it croaked. My guess is that one or both of your regulators are bad (2n3055). You could also have a bad fuse holder or bridge rectifier on the transformer assy which would drop the +10.3 when the supply is under load. Measure the DC voltage on the purple (GND) and orange (+10.3) wires when you have the supply loaded (aka connected to the game boards). If it's dropping significantly you have a transformer assy problem. If its staying above 9 (10 would be better) you have a regulation problem on the ARIII.
All that said, I'd add in a switcher to power that bottom board and be done with the ARIII's lack of enough current to drive that video board. I'm not saying HACK the cabinet or the harness. I'm saying build an adapter that would breakout +GND and +5 from that 11 pin connector (P7 on the video board). A modern switcher could power BOTH boards and not break a sweat. Hit me up for instructions on how to do that if you want.
I'd offer to fix that Polo for you but I've got nothing to test it on.
Glad to see that you are posting video's! I was wondering what was going on. :) L8tr John!
Welcome back!
Welcome back john!
Great you are back john from Wales Uk
Yay! John you are finally back!!
Eh, well at least the popcorn maker is still hanging on lol. Yeah those HP monitors aren't easy to fix like the Wells Gardners some MK cabs came with. Luckily I found four 25" NOS WG standard res and a NOS 25" WG medium res about four years ago in a bulk buy. All my machines (MK1-3 and Midway Sports station) are set for life. I'm in the middle of restoring a NBA Hangtime which my last standard res monitor will go into. I never throw out the old monitors though. I try to bring them to back to life if there's no screen burn.
It would of been an idea to isolate the tray on the MK2 that the monitor power supply sits on to stop any short circuits or arking.
I noticed right away what's gone and it really saddens me. How could you do this JOHN? Where Kristen Stewart!?! #SaveStewart
Lol!!!!
Welcome Back John!!!!!
So great that you are back :D
A Vs. Duck Hunt or Vs. Pinball would be fun!
Ug, looks like John's Mad Planets didn't make the cut..
ditch the popcorn maker!
I just saw a nice Bronco pin in St Louis. I vote for Bronco refurbish 👍🏼👍🏼
IH JOHN GOOD JOB GOOD TO SEE YOU
Missed you buddy sooooo glad your back
ahh brutal...my Mortal Kombat II bomb'd recently too...Chassis fly back failed (smoke smelling). Sent chassis to a friend..would rather have a the brain surgeon perform the surgery. anyway, nice to see you back.

Computer Space moved next to Robotron and Ice Cold Beer
The Nintendo red tent slanted a bit
Crazy Climber moved next to Frogger
He's back!
For the love of god can you get rid of that broken popcorn machine

The legend is back :)
How was rehab?
I'm still recovering
My polo chassis came back with the same thing, I used a jumper wire, its been fine since, so far...
Hey there john welcome back me and my partner kate have missed you videos again i say welcome back
Best new video of 2019! ;-)
Check the voltage at the "sense feedback connections to the "ar3" power supply..What's it getting back from the game board under load ? it wont regulate the 5 Volt output properly if its not getting voltage feedback on the Sense feedback wires (bad or high resistance connection there), or it could be having an issue with the 5 volt regulation circuit on ar3 itself. at least the ar3 does not have the same innate ability to destroy the current limiting resistors like the Ar1 and Ar2 did when the games 5 volt power input on the edge connector burns itself to a crisp making the game board try and draw all its power through the sense feedback line resistors.. (pole position hardware is well noted for issues here due to its high power draw ..) look into the "sense mod" to protect the hardware of older games that use the Ar1 and Ar2 is also a thought .. some info one the roots of this issue here,, bitslicer.tripod.com/ar_sense_mod.htm
Hey john big fan! Always learn a lot for u and enjoy your videos! Quick question where do u get your rebuild kits?? For the monitors, boards, power supplies thank man! Keep rocking!
He gets them from several places bobroberts and Ian Kellogg mostly tho :)
