GOD it's been a minute!. Been busy fixing arcade games at my work in AZ. Also a pinsetter mechanic and I love your videos. Glad to see another video from you, John!
Glad to see John working on the arcades with Jay, open the door to the garage 🤣 (so iconic) nba pin get some love , checking that juicy pork , perfection! 😂
Jay is a great cohost, love that you guys are back. I blew the same fuse in my fastbreak, couldnt figure out how. Also the previous owner subbed in some Home Depot fuse that wasnt quite up to spec. ps Look into LED OCD for your Fastbreak! If only to smooth the GI dimming, love mine.
Glad you are back, John! Can we get a video tour of the basement? So much has changed! Like, where's Journey? You worked so hard on it. It's sad to not see it there. Love to you and your family.
LEDs in pins are cool but if I get old pin I would keep ald types bulbs.Gives you that amber analogue 80s lighting look and feel from led but less are still awesome.
I had my theater of magic overhauled and the guy who overhauled my machine went overboard and the game looks like crap... I might switch back to incandescent if it is not too expensive
I think what happened is that loop made switch wasnt registering, so that mean the game wont go into "in the paint mode" which uses the defender. I had the same issue with the right loop made switch, which is a harder shot to make. Also the diverter on that right loop is a pita.
Massachusetts logic: - Video arcade and pinball games will spread COVID-19. - Casinos and slot machines will not. It makes sense when you realize that it's hopelessly corrupt on Beacon Hill, has been for generations and people are probably being paid bribes.
Hey John I have a cruis n world that after 10 minutes of running it started to glitch out and now when I turn it on the screen and marquee turns on but nothing displays on the screen and I don’t hear any sound. Any idea what could be the problem?
Could you check your power supply by bridging the +5v and ground with a suitable sized resistor (several hundred ohms I think you said), and then measure if the same drop in voltage occurs as when you plug in the board? If so, the PS is bad.
I've noticed a few of the last times while you doing viewer mail, that spaceball game in the background the vertical keeps bouncing around.. might be a shorted tube in the vertical section..
John, please be careful using that microfiber cloth on the lexan/plexiglas, I made the mistake of using one of those on lexan and the fibers of the cloth melted into the surface of the lexan as they are both plastic. I highly recommend you only use cotton cloths on plastics. Lesson learned for me, fortunately is was something that was easily replaced in my case.
John. Get a powerful tool magnetizer/demagnetizer. They are cheap and it will be the best money you ever spent. Keep one in each toolbox. Second. More and more I now see the value and needs of 3d printers. You don't need an expensive one but one that can be setup quick and ready to go out of the box with a little learning curve. I am pretty sure there's likely a community that 3d prints all sorts of things you cannot find anymore. Think about just this video alone. 3dprint a corner brace you can use to screw and secure both boards together tighter for Major Havok or 3dprint plastic standoffs and and odd parts you cannot get anymore for these older machines. New motherboard brackets. Someone's probably made these already in file for you can just upload to a printer and test print them. Get a decent starter 3dprinter that won't break the bank. I am sure many have some suggestions. (I am just starting to look myself) . So glad you are back!
Hi john, something that looks a bit dodgy on those power supply’s is the glue that’s holding down the big caps. That stuff starts to become conductive when it turns brown so might want to check it’s not shorting any tracks or solder joints or via’s. man I wish I had that arcade set up during Covid lock down you wouldn’t of seen me for months .
If you have a short, you could use a FLIR camera to see what part gets hotter than usual. Yes, touching each part could work as well, but if you have more games and locations, you could use FLIR camera during normal maintenance to locate problematic parts that are on their last leg and it's much faster, if you check multiple games.
*Clean the edge connector fingers with a fiberglass pen, on the MH, then hit it with some DeOxit. And do it for both the game board and the adapter board. This should be done once every few years, and especially if you've never done it. That will keep 99% of Atari power issues away.*
Im still using Radio Shack solder as well Tim ha. Agreed John, working on games with a few guys is better; you should hang with us monday repair nights at Freeplay in Prov. Cool vid. -Mitch
It is illegal to sell lead to consumers here in eu now so it's impossible for me to get leaded solder anymore. When I run out of my good roll of leaded solder I'm not sure what to do, might order some solder from aliexpress and hope it gets through customs lol.
Dear Diary, Hi it's me John, I am in the basement, i have replaced the voltage regulators...........Great tag team, John, Jay and Tim , loving the videos
I think the Arcade1Up cabs are great for what they are. If you’re expecting the quality of an arcade machine that would have cost you 10 times as much when they were new, obviously you’re mistaken. But if you don’t have money or space for real cabs, and you want some to bang around on and give you an arcade like experience with friends, or with your kids, they’re perfect. Plus, supporting companies like A1U will only be good for the hobby in the long run, imo.
I also collect arcade games. I understand and agree with you completely on the Arcade 1-Ups. However, when it comes to TMNT and Burgertime, I own them. Why? I just cant see paying 2000+ dollars for either game. Those two specifically have just gotten so insanely expensive that I wouldn't own them otherwise. I'll probably eventually own the Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder cabinet for the same reason. Also, isn't a Holy Grail game one you don't yet own because it's unobtainable?
Hi John. Great to see you back. Just wondering if you know of someone I can contact for a Time Pilot upright control panel with hinge. No need for the controls. Cheers 🍻 John
I was so waiting to see the update to Hanger like year and half years ago,but now my heart went to wtf moment ,it so sad.I hope it pick up John, miss the video from the past.
John, you don’t like working on the machines alone, so why don’t you do more live stream shows. Than the viewers can give you input on the problems you have.
John: Releases new video Me: Fan girl noises My wife: What the fuck is wrong with you? Me: More fan girl noises pointing at the screen. My wife: Are you going to watch that guys ass again? Me: Fan girl noises intensifies
Regarding the Arcade 1Up's...they are decent for the price. The company is improving their techniques and attempting to give you that arcade experience. Let's face it, though. It's Ikea Arcade. It's not as durable. Definitely emulated. And not all of them are coming with that height extending base. However, it's also not aging hardware that's going to be in need of TLC...at first. So, if you want that casual arcade at home experience, these are great. But, let's face it. Arcade 1 Up is like the super sized Hot Wheels vs. a real arcade that's like owning a Mustang. World of difference.
Man, I'm so glad these videos are back.
It's great stuff, no doubt.
I remember watching ur 2010 videos touring your game room. I was 8. Now I’m 18. Time flies
It fulls my heart with so much joy to know that the videos are back keep up the great work John! 👍🏻
GOD it's been a minute!. Been busy fixing arcade games at my work in AZ. Also a pinsetter mechanic and I love your videos. Glad to see another video from you, John!
I miss these repair videos so much.... So glad youre back!
John, take a trip over to Jay’s basement. Let’s see his cabaret collection!
Glad to see John working on the arcades with Jay, open the door to the garage 🤣 (so iconic) nba pin get some love , checking that juicy pork , perfection! 😂
Very happy John's back! I'm finding myself pausing the videos just to make them longer.
So glad you're back!! Awesome vid 🤟 love that NBA Fastbreak! Its FANTASTIC!!

Welcome back! You put out quality content

Nice house call from Dr. Jay. I bet he'll get those arcades open even if he has turn them into a casino!
Glad your back! Thanks for another great video!
So so glad you're back, John. I've really missed your videos.
'Jays Arcade Game Reviews & Tech' in this epirsode with John and TIm.
Keep the videos coming. I know your probably bored of games in the garage, but enjoy them cause that is a amazing variety.
What's the control panel height on the ms Pacman cab

The cabinet and pinball collection is awesomee man 🔥😍

John, forget about that ARIII in the Paperboy. Power the video board with another switcher or get a 15 amp switcher and power both boards with that.
I've noticed a few of the last times while you doing viewer mail, that spaceball game in the background the vertical keeps bouncing around.. might be a shorted tube in the vertical section..
Can't wait to see the shop work on the NBA fastbreak, I like how unique that pin is

I didn't see any scratches or anything. I think it worked great.
John... i love that you are back man.. i missed you!..

John - Great to see you again man!Keep it up
I switched over to Comet Frosted Sunlight LEDs for GI. Its the best, not too warm not too white.
If the van is a rockin', don't go knockin'

Theres no way to 3d print some of these parts?

When you started Viewer mail, is TRON's screen kinda flickering or twitching? Maybe it's just the camera shutter speed?
Woot, Jay back at it again

I really did miss the kill screens music, any physically CDs available?

FYI... Good solder flow is from the FLUX core infused in the solder...not the LEAD content in the solder...smh
Only the grounds are common between those two power supplies.

Major Havoc L Bracket www.arcadeplastics.com/major-havoc-to-tempest-conversion-pcb-stabilizer
You should have sprayed some deoxit into the switch and worked it in to see if it got any better ?
Jay's got a Transit!!! So great that they're sold in the US nowadays :)
quality tuesday evening entertainment this, thanks
It’s nice to see NBA Fastbreak back in the basement.
Still have batteries on your board too, you should consider upgrading to nvram when you get a chance; then its 1,000%
ha ; )
Nice work.
This is life, Buddies!!!😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍! You are really (still) free, over there in the US!
my life feels complete now.
Entertaining video, per usual. Thanks. Cheers for now.

John, I'd definitely be re-seating all the chips and even check all the ROMs...
I've had ROMs bring down the voltage on one of my games...
Countdown in Pole Position never gets old. 🤔🙋😎
are you talking about his cab or Adam's FPGA version :)
@@808v1
Whichever one that was providing background noise during the repair. 🤔✨
I highly recommend trying orange Titian rubbers. Found they play and clean much better than the regular white rubbers
Tha Golden Tee was a DDR before
holy cow..I thought a regular arcade would have tons of mess inside..but that's nothing comparing to the pinball..it's a jungle in there.
John any chance we might see or hear from Gregg like in VGO? I miss seeing colabs with Gregg and his crew too.
an arcade with a couple thousand roms vs the real ones. Which one gives you the classic feel to the retro world?
Hi John. Great to see you back. Just wondering if you know of someone I can contact for a Time Pilot upright control panel with hinge. No need for the controls. Cheers 🍻 John

always always always shut the coin door before pulling the glass...
39:40 I'm surprised you don't own a Snake Light
I use to put John on ,and sleep to his Videos before Joe Rogan's podcast.KEEP THE CONTENT FLOWING BRO.
John you are the reason for my existence.
You some Titan colored silicone rubbers John! They are fantastic.
Why don't you start a repairs record for each machine?
Was this live god dam,i miss it.....
never check a fuse in the holder!
Feel bad not John. I bought a WOZ YBR pinball machine NIB and had to take it back to the distributor to fix several issues!!! Disgusting!!!
I can't stop looking at the computer space ball because its monitor keeps bouncing and collapsing in the background
What’s the music from,I’d be interested in buying it
John's band The Killscreens: soundcloud.com/thekillscreens/want-and-need-mastered
The first album is on Amazon music: www.amazon.com/Science-Fiction-Movie-Kill-Screens/dp/B005BGWG5A
Popcorn machine, check. Stable table...
I ordered similar fuse box from Amazon, should be fast blows and not slow blows
Great Vid!
Someone should start selling a mini triangular bracket that would keep that board in place. The board has holes already. That's a good item to sell.
Great Video..!!!
Bought my camper in Westfield!
Lol....The games i play most in my game room are donkey kong and dragons lair 2
John, you don’t like working on the machines alone, so why don’t you do more live stream shows. Than the viewers can give you input on the problems you have.
JAHN I've got some spare time on the weekends if you ever need a cameraman.
Where is Journey ???
Please update us as you haven't said anything about it ?
NBAFB is so dope
If there's a pinball machine I would love to own is an F14 TOMCAT...
I am so jealous.
John: Releases new video
Me: Fan girl noises
My wife: What the fuck is wrong with you?
Me: More fan girl noises pointing at the screen.
