I appreciate having the noise level on the chart. I would definitely pay a little more for a quieter compressor, given the similar performances.

No problem, yep Db can play an important role in making a decision.

AstroAi. Had two different models for over 4 years now. It still works perfectly.

Great job with the review, looks like it comes down to the finer details and the price you are willing to pay.

Thanks! yep I was surprised the performance between them is almost the same.

I know there are dozens of brands out there, but I've kept a Viair compressor in each car for many years. They are pricier than these and have a more basic design, but are well made and quiet.

I will add it to the list, hope to test mid price point at some point. Thanks for the info!

@@Tools-Tested are you still planning on doing a mid price point test? There are so many inflators out there it's hard to choose one. Obviously you can't test everything but there are a lot more interesting ones out there:
A few more from AstroAI (the "Heavy Duty" 160psi and the Dual Power 12V-DC/120V-AC 150psi)
The entire Viair lineup (75P, EVC85P, TLC LITE)
Slime make some that hit various price points
And I don't know if it's within the scope of your reviews, but if you could add any data on flow rate that would be super helpful too. Looking for worst case scenario, needing to reseat a bead on an ATV tire out in the bush.

My roadside guy, who 100% abuses his tools, managed to break the larger Pittsburg air pump and he gave it to me to fix. After getting it running again I was rather pleasantly surprised at its performance and all metal internal construction. I have a 12v inflator from Costco that looks exactly like the larger Pittsburgh except it has a cylinder at both ends of the motor and their connected together. It actually works really well. Great video, maybe do a round two and include other brands like Husky and so on.

I had the D handle shittsburg. It crapped out and HF told me to pound salt. The zipper also broke on the case the first time I opened it. I bought a Viair and haven't looked back.

You probly failed to follow instructions and let it run more than 10 min at a time and burned it up. Also must turn it on before connecting hose.

@@mg8718 I never fail to read instructions and always turned it on first just as it states. The one I had was junk. I now have a Viair which is one of the best pumps made.

Great video. For me, it is about what I will use a small 12v tire inflator for and that is roadside emergencies. For anything else, I'll use my shop compressor with a JACO digital tire inflator. I carry a really good emergency flashlight, so do need a light on the compressor. Doubt I would have access to AC power, so having that option isn't important to me as well. Also, can't recall if you tested the accuracy of the gauges but the larger Pittsburg dial gauge is pretty accurate when I tested it with my JACO which is spot on. For roadside flats, I just need to get the tire fixed and filled with air, so having a digital gauge is not big deal. Not sure if you took the inflators apart but another commenter mentioned that the larger Pittsburgh internals (piston, connector, bearings, etc.) are all metal. Some of the others I have seen are plastic. Looks like the EP Auto maybe be all metal as well. For something that I'll use only once in a great while, maybe plastic internals is ok. However, I believe most of this small inflators say to run for only 10 minutes at a time or they will overheat. Seen some of the plastic ones start to smoke and burn up if overused. Anyway, love you reviews. Keep them up.

6 minute average oh my ! I'll just get a longer hose for my house compressor.

Maybe I missed it. Did you check for gauge accuracy? I just found my battery powered compressor was overfilling almost 10psi.

      @Tools-Tested  Місяць тому

I tested the different and oddly enough most were only 1-2psi off. I expected some to be way off but I never seen it.
