Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

I bought the Rigid unit last March 2022 and had been awesome for me until this December. The plastic air chuck started to leak under load and the whole unit became useless. I took it back to Home Depot for warranty work but was convinced to do a return for store credit. With that store credit in hand and then some, I bought the DeWalt unit as I was now mostly focused on the robustness of the air chuck. Only DeWalt and Milwaukee M12 and M18 seems to have the brass air chuck. Anyways, so far so good. Thank you for your review video!

I'm a fan of the m12 and m18 tools. The tire inflator is my second favorite in my colle6only behind the m18 worksite bluetooth speaker and the m18 1/2" impact tie tie my favorites. The m12 3/8" ratchet is great too!
I've owned the M18 inflator for a few months now, it's been great. It lives mostly on my wife's minivan, so the space it takes up is really not that big of a deal and since she uses the minivan quite a bit for what you'd want a minivan (carrying our kids, and sometimes friends/neighbors kids) I have the peace of mind it's the fastest thing around if she ever needs it, considering she's quite handy with changing/fixing tires. Had a flat I patched on a church parking lot on last years summer vacations, and using an 12V compressor that plugged in to the cigarette lighter in the car was a huge pain, inflating the tire back to 35psi took longer than me patching the thing, it was not cool and had me doubting if I'd done the work correctly or if I'd missed something, and considering in the trip we had young kids and older in laws, well, any stress you can take out is welcomed :)
Having said that, the purchase of this inflator did lead me to go firmly into Milwaukee's M18 system for other tools. I wasn't invested in any ecosystem before, but that is a con if you have tools from another vendor and you kind of want to not have too many battery standards flying around.

I just watched a bunch of your videos. Wow! Well done! I was shopping for a grease gun and a tire inflator but I ended up learning so much more. But the one thing that I learned that had the most value was the "duty cycle" rating that you gave the inflators. My 40 years of welding kicked in. The most burning question on my wallet is duty cycle of cordless angle grinders. All my favorite UA-camrs are using Dewalt but as I learned in the grease gun video Dewalt does not mean "best". Please do a video comparing cordless angle grinders. Should I spend any money on one or just go corded? I got totally burned on the Bauer angle grinder and "hate dismantled" it. The problem. Duty cycle. Less than a minute. Yes. 58 seconds to heat fail. I was so angry! Thank you for your scientific approach to testing that exceeds all the other tool testing channels by a mile.

I plan on doing angle grinders, but it will probably be 3-6 months before I get to them. The goal is to test them on the Drill Dyno I have built. That way we can see true power numbers and max torque. The Dyno will also allow runtime testing under a constant load.
Sorry to hear about the Bauer, it will be interesting to see how the others compare.

I just bought the Milwaukee M18. Best inflator I have ever owned. Have been using a combo of DeWalt and Makita for most of my tools. Very impressed with this Milwaukee. Got it as part of a deal when buying two Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT XC 6 Ah Lithium-Ion Batteries. Already had the charger. I see so many people bragging up one brand or another. After comparing and using several top brands, I am leaning towards the Milwaukee line for most of my new tools. Worth the cost. Most top line battery tools seem to be comparable. Just a matter of personal choice.

there is a hack with the Makita, where you can put a zip=tie around the handle to hold the trigger in place

Great video! It would have been nice to see Makita's new 40v XGT version of this inflator head to head against the Milwaukee or atleast a 6ah 18v Makita battery but that Milwaukee is beastly!

40v is 10% stronger, everything else is the same.
Tools and Stuff did a video on the new 18V and the XGT, the XGT is not much faster and they have the same max PSI. Both should be good for a few truck tires easily.

I bought and returned the Craftsman one today, it drank two batteries topping off tires. It's a pile of poo with the battery use might as well have not made a battery option. My buddy has the Milwaukee one and it's wicked good.
For cost, ability, and compactness - that Ridgid is really nice. But I hesitate to invest in a third battery platform. I already have Milwaukee and Ryobi, so will probably go with the Ryobi. I can deal with the longer time considering the vehicles I have.

I have the Milwaukee and find I need to set it to deliver 42 psi to get 40 psi because when unscrewing the hose pressure is lost. The remedy would be a closed chuck locking quick connector attached to hose. I have ordered one.
Thanks for the great review! I've owned the Dewalt since it first came out and we have one at work. It is a great unit, even thought I also have the Milwaukee, the Dewalt gets used the most. The Milwaukee becomes my go to inflator when I go off road and need to air up my large off road tires. It is much faster.

If you don't like the bulkyness lol of the milwaukee m18 they do sell a m12 version which still beats the dewalt by over 1 minute to 35 psi

I've owned several battery powered inflators and currently use the Milwaukee M18. Not enough rating weight is given to the duty cycle. With the short duty cycles that all of these have, inflation speed is everything. Who wants to sit around for a half-hour waiting for the unit to cool down? The Milwaukee is fast enough that you can actually top off a couple tires without exceeding the duty cycle. My brother recently burned up a B&D inflator trying to top off the tires on his landscape trailer. They all needed a bit of air and when he got to the third tire he heard a loud pop and now the B&D no longer works.
Yep the duty cycle is very important when it comes to these. I can see how it can easily be overlooked!
But you also gotta understand that most cars and trucks only run on around 35 PSI, and nobody need to inflate from zero to 35. 99% of the time, people only need from 25 to 35, which will take maybe 2 minutes on dewalt (or similar in that tier). With the multi function and easy of use (dial and LED, smaller body, multi source of power) I think for 95% of the people out there, dewalt is their best option. UNLESS they need to constantly inflate high PSI tires on daily/weekly basis, and you pay 30% more too. So, good job M18, but good luck with your competition.

@@Tracys35thchannel If you have dewalt or Milwaukee battery already, just buy their inflators in this video. If you don't have either tools. I recommend buying one inflator and battery/charger as combo. Either of these two brands will work very well. However, I prefer Dewalt one because it can also inflate balloons, or as blower, while Miwaukee can only inflate tires.

I am exclusively into the Makita line of battery tools, ...but I bought the Milwaukee M18 inflator, and a couple of the High Output 6Ah batteries, for two reasons.
1. The need to hold the trigger on the Makita is a negative aspect. Although, you can use a velcro strap or other method to solve that problem, but that's kind of a rinky-dink solution for a high-end tool.
2. The Makita overshoots the programmed pressure by quite a bit before it stops, then you have to use the deflate button to bring the pressure back down to what you programmed to begin with. What is the point of using a programmed shutoff pressure if it doesn't stop there?! The Milwaukee stops where it is programmed, waits a bit and measures the pressure, then if necessary, runs some more to hit the target pressure, and stops. No fuss, no muss. Done.
One good upgrade for any of these inflators that have a screw on type of hose termination, is to add a locking air chuck to the end of the hose.
Yeah the Makita was a let down sadly, they should have read the reviews from the pervious version.

Right now at Home Depot you can get the Milwaukee for about $94. You buy a 2 battery kit for $199 and the inflator is free. Already have batteries? Return the batteries for around $105 and keep the inflator for about $94.

Great video. The chart showing power options skipped the 12DC available for the DeWalt. How do you invoke the deflate mode?
My mistake. The chart does not reflect that the DeWalt has an option for corded power, but you have to buy the cord.

The Ridgid is great overall, esp. at the price; but it's *insanely* loud. Louder than any other tyre compressor I've ever had, and the results here show it's not only the loudest it's also significantly louder than the the next loudest, at 6dB up on it. Def. don't use in enclosed spaces w/o hearing protection. Interestingly it hit a max pressure much higher than all the rest but let's be honest here no one is inflating a passenger car/pickup truck tyre to those kind of pressures.
On another note, stupidly, all of the TTI ones except the Hart (the cheapest one!) don't have a light. Not sure what they were thinking there given they put LEDs on every drill, driver, ratchet, etc. and didn't think of it here.
Yep good point it’s very loud, hearing protection is a must. But overall can’t beat the performance for the price!
Yeah it’s strange how the tools under TTI can vary and why a simple led is left out. Must be none of the company’s under TTI really collaborate.

These are a real life saver, if you're lucky you can get the DeWalt with jumper cables, usb ports, and an alternator tester, inflator for around $150. A little heavy but works great, if your tire is flat , maybe 20mins to do the whole ordeal, but solid machine. No funny noises like others I've owned. Thanks 👍

Great video and I have the rigid battery lineup, but I'll rarely have the battery in my car as I don't drive around with my batteries (I work remote digital marketing). I would go with the skill, but I would just use it for the 12v and I doubt that's useful. Can you just do a video with just popular 12v models, focusing on that it's corded 12v and ideally 10amps because that seems to be in most passenger vehicles. Also, if you're keeping them, maybe have a teardown look inside to see what their pump setup is like and do they use nylon pistons/drives or metal as it makes the longevity much better (as per Project Farms videos).
It would be a while before I can do just 12v versions, sadly I won't be able to tear them apart. Normally I resell them, my videos don't make money lol.

The Ridgid comes with a 12v adapter. You don’t need to carry a battery with you.

Great technological test/results, price, noise, time, etc, etc video. I wonder what brand lasts the longer after so many months/years of uses. I seen more of the ridgid in piles of used tools in resale shops with the hose broken off.

Cant say on longevity, I perviously used a ryobi for 2 years without issues, my boss has the M12 and it failed on him a month ago.

@@Tools-Tested yes I have see piles and piles of used tools of all brands: ryobis, dewalts, milwaukees, rigid. Mostly returns from homedepot. Resellers buy them by the pallets & sale them at the flea markets and marketplace.
Thx, not sure why the B&D was rated so low...the time to inflate is not the biggest factor in my opinion and both the B&D and the Craftsman allow for 3 power sources...and come in at much lower cost...for the odd time these devices are used i would consider the B&D...especially if you already have a battery for it...😁

Interesting set of tests. Having to hold the trigger on the Makita is certainly a let down, wonder if all of their models are like that? The Dewalt seemed to suffer from vibration more than the other tools, bit annoying having it dance across the floor like that.
Yeah sadly I think all of the Makita's are, 12v, 180 18v, this 181. Don't know for sure about the 40v XGT one but it looks almost identical to the 181. I don't understand, why have a reset if someone has to hold the trigger.
Dewalt defiantly has a lot of vibration, just like the Ridgid.
I will say if you put a flex volt battery 12ah on the bottom it no longer moves lol.
@@Tools-Tested I'm on the Makita platform and I'm watching thinking I don't have that release valve. Turns out I have the 180. I keep a perm zip tie on it and slide it over the trigger. The auto shut off makes that possible. Really dumb design but it pumps up well.

i need one of these ad am not getting the makita because of the button issue. i stand up as my back is sore to bed so im with any unit anyway in case it runs on. i also have dewalt batteries so i will get it. i want to use 3amp batteries at least as i have a von haus machine i was gifted and its 1.5amp and it runs out when 4 tyres need filled and topped up.
You should do a comparison with whatever the latest generation of 3/8" impact wrenches in the 18-24V category. Say Milwaukee M18, Ridgid Subcompact Brushless, Ryobi HP, Makita, Dewalt, and Matabo. Possibly throw a couple others in if you can think of whatever like Kobolt.

i am on the Milwaukee battery platform, i have the most Milwaukee batteries then dewalt then ryobi.
i waited for so long for a m18 inflator, then i got the dewalt and they released the m18.
if i knew, i would have waited and got the m18, but i am happy with the dewalt .

I think it really depends on which platform you have or plan on buying into in the future.
having a hard time deciding if i should get the Milwaukee inflator or not since i want to keep it in the car but the battery staying in that hot cabin is a fire risk so has anyone had this inflator in they’re car for a long time?

if you have the two tools id enjoy to see a comparison of the M18 inflator and M18 compressor on output, say how long does the compressor take to fill its 2gallon tank and then how long does it take the inflator to fill a 2 gallon tank to the same pressure
just to give an idea on how much more output the compressor has over the inflator if you take the storage tank out of the equation.. i dont own either but thinking about buying one or the other
hey maybe they just copy and pasted the compressor set up from the compressor into the inflator and removed the tank, or maybe they have completely different dynamics
copy and pasting the same motor and pump seems alot more reasonable when you consider that the battery can only provide so much juice, so if theyre just maximizing output based on avaiable power both tools would hit the same wattage allowance
maybe they give the compressor more jam though as smaller batterys like a 3.0 or even 5.0 can overheat on them and they take that as acceptable but the inflator they want to work with any battery for a full tire even a 2.0 where as if you throw a 2.0 or 3.0 on the compressor and run into issues that cause youre being an idiot.. not that i wouldnt do it to eek out that last tire, or last bit of air nailing ect

Hello, I'm gonna ask a couple different pages, but I'm looking for a portable air compressor that will top my tires off from 50 to 55psi on my truck. My tire size is 285/60/R20. Are there any out there? If so, what are your opinions on the best? A video would be amazing! Thanks in advance.
I think the m18 inflator would work for this. My plan is to do cordless air compressors at some point, but probably won't be for a while bc they are pricey.

What attachment did you use on the 5 gallon tank to be able to hook up the Milwaukee to it? I want to buy one for my 5 gallon bead/bait blaster but it just has your typical male air chuck on it.
My tank already had a Schrader valve on it for filling. You probably need a Schrader valve with 1/4 thread, I'm guessing your tank has a normal air fitting on it.

I bet the m12 inflator could’ve taken care of most of these full size inflators. Had mine for years and even after getting the m18 I still use the m12 for smaller tires
Did you test the PSI actually achieved by each inflator? The actual PSI placed in a tire by the 2 Milwaukee's I used is higher than their display indicates.
From my testing they seemed to be in a range of -2-+2 PSI using the gauge I put inline.
I just bought the Dewalt. There is no way I would want to rely on the battery only. The 12v is a must. Sucks that it does not come with the 120 volt adapter, but would I ever really use it?

Ridgid is great value. Of course I would have to buy into a whole new system so maybe it's not a great choice for me right now. LOL

Yep defiantly have to consider what platforms you are running, I really wish some of these brands ran the same batterys. I don't see why Dewalt, Craftsman and black & decker all have to use a different battery !

Oh yeah 😎? 2-3 months ago the HART from Walmart went on sale online. Two(2) 20volt 4Ah(amphour) batteries + charger + compressor tool: $99 + tax, free shipping.
For bicycles 🚲 prefer the smaller HART pistol grip 20v compressor can use the same 20v HART batteries on the HART am/fm Radio 📻 + Bluetooth. Ride bicycle 🚲 listen 👂 to am/fm radio 📻 or UA-cam music 🎶 and Audio 🔉 Books 📚 📙 using cellphone and Bluetooth. And also have small digital backup 20v HART compressor. Always carry a brass Presta valve adapter for road tires.

all depends on your platform. I was a mixed bag until someone gave me a Makita impact and Ive since replaced with another and gone down the makita rabbit hole.
Yep I would be hard pressed to add another platform just for one tool.
The other thing about the Makita with the switch, the heat gun is more dangerous than a tire pump with a cut off setting. It would be safer to NOT have the lockable switch on the heat gun and have it on the compressor.

Be sure to check the accuracy of the pressure gauges on the inflators.
Yeah from my testing they seem to be within 2psi of the desired setting
The DeWalt might not be the fastest, but it is one of the most versatile, accurate and feature-packed. It is therefore definitely in contention for being the best IMO.
I use the dewalt to top off my coach from 100 to 110lb. I would love to see a high pressure speed test.
Sadly I have already sold them all, I know 90 is not 100 but I think it gives a decent idea of how they perform at higher psi.
In your comparison between the Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, the starting pressures do not seem to be identical -- this could lead to inaccurate timings.
Very important factor on this review is missing. Regardless of all the functions that these compressors have, the one thing that is important to me is the PSI accuracy. Once you preset the psi, you normally just wait for it to do its job and cut off the compressor once the desired psi is reached. However, my experience has been the accuracy left a lot to be desired. Variances of +-1 to 2 psi is acceptable, anything varying more than that is no good as far as I'm concerned.
Hart is good for the price, but after using it about once every day for a couple months, the motor started sounding bad & smelling burnt, on the plus side I called Hart customer service & they sent me a replacement in the mail under warranty.

Price, performance, useability and size goes to Ridgid...it's just more practical for what most people are going to need it for. So many folks are on the Ridgid 18V system that it just makes sense, instead of investing in an entirely different battery group.
So power wise. Do you think the MILWAUKEE M18 will refill / check dump truck 12 tires???
I think it could do it in a pinch, but if you're doing it often I would suggest looking at the cordless air compressor.
With the preset tire inflators...press and walk away...I wonder if it can be defective one day and blow out the tire...is this a possibility?

My Craftsman compressor of at least 10 years has a leak in the hose. The schrader valve piece on my older Craftsman is metal, with a metal flip down lever. When I looked at the newer Craftsman you reviewed in this video at Lowes, it seems its Schrader valve is plastic with a plastic flip down lever!! I'm worried that plastic flip down lever can break easily. Which of the ones reviewed here would be the most durable? I'm leaning towards the Rigid.

You can return the starter pack if you are running m18 already, that brings the tool down to around 95 dollars!

Mine broke too, and I was able to replace it with a fully metal one from China for a few bucks. Check your preferred e commerce site and search for Air Chuck.
@@Tools-Tested I ended up buying the Skil Power Core, and it has been performing quite well. Worth the upgrade, as it's not only quieter than my old Craftsman, but also allows me to see current air pressure and program the desired air pressure. These features were not available in the older Craftsman unit.

I already own a DeWalt from already having other tools in the DeWalt line. Yea its not the cheapest but Its definitely proven its worth over time. I've even sold my father in law on having one, lol. This is a good overall review of many of the different products and seemed fair overall. And yea, the scroll wheel is really handy. The built in light is ok I guess but I personally haven't had to use it (as I always carry a streamlight)
Nice, yeah I do like the Dewalt. Up until this year it would have won the test being that the m18 and 181 are new.
It will be interesting to see if they update it in the coming years.
Yeah I try to keep my testing fair and consistent. I buy all the tools and normally look a price/performance not so much the brand.
The dewalt was defiantly designed with the user in mind, hard to beat that scroll wheel.
I feel like M18 missed the mark. I LOVE their tools and have their batteries/tool setup. Their little pump should also have come with a 12v socket adapter like many of the cheap units do. At the price they are charging this should have been a standard thing. IE: I take it on trips with me but don't have to worry if the battery is dead to be able to power this, I can just hook it up to the car's 12v cig plug and fill up a tire...
Yeah I agree should have a 12v plug for the price.
The Milwaukee is perhaps one of the most well thought out. Memory features and a crazy duty cycle.
I had a craftsman but the 12v plug broke. And the 110v cable is entirely useless without an extension. The Milwaukee is great, but there really needs to be a 12v and 110v option as it would be ridiculously versatile. Sometimes relying on only batteries isn’t the greatest.
Only feature I’d like to see added is a automatic deflation setting.

Love my dewalt inflator easy to use and fast especially when you add a quick connector to it and the 12v cord comes with it as well but I prefer to use the battery

What about the best ones that have a built in jack to lift the vehicle, inflater, and also can use a air gun to remove the wheel lugs. A complete package.

I have the Rigid and it is Lifetime Warranty Even the Battery I also have the Ryobi also. I had no problem Airing up a Ram 250 Diesel to i think 80 psi. Best bang for the buck!
