    As humble and as down-to-earth as you seem to be, I doubt if you realize how incredible a modeler/diorama maker/teacher you are. It's seems impossible, but each video is more amazing than the last. When you started curving the track with your simple homemade block, I was saying, "Come on! Who thinks of something like that?" Genius. You have a lot of subscribers. You deserve triple the amount.

      lol... I've seen all sorts of contraptions for bending the weathered flex trackfrom micro engineering, some better than others but I'm sure I'm not the first to fashion up a block like this 😀 I'm very grateful that so many people enjoy these videos and I'm glad that I've been able to help you and share some tips and techniques with you.

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  6 років тому +8

      Thanks Martin, I think if I had more time I'd try to fine tune the color of the bridge and add a fair bit more weathering and some distressed wood, overall from a normal viewing distance it looks great but when you get up close it could definitely do with some heavier weathering.

    you have so many tips and tricks in your videos, it would be hard to figure them all out watching your videos once. from the tools you use to the ground cover. the chopper seems to be a tool you use for just about every project you do. seems like a great investment for anyone getting into the scenery side of modeling. but the tip I like the best is one most people might miss. dirt from outside. wow for cheap, and found every where. and the dried up leaves chopped in a blender. real ground cover to use as scenic ground cover.
    the bridge you make in this video is picture perfect. add a couple kids standing above the track watching the trin go under. well that takes me back to the days of growing up.
    Thanks Luke. another 30 mins well spent, for the viewer.

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  6 років тому

      ha ha thanks Dave, I certainly use the chop-it a lot! There's a lot of micro-mark tools that I use pretty regularly. It's funny when I go looking for dirt, I usually drive around looking for just the right color dirt which believe it or not happens to coincide with the side of busy roads! I must look so suspicious to passers by as I try to discretely scoop up shovel loads of dirt from the roadside! Lighter color dirt looks much better on the layout after applying the glue because it will usually become a lot darker after glue is applied.
      Glad you enjoyed watching the video and keep up the hard work on your channel as well, when I get down time from work and home I'll often watch what you've been up to 😉

    Excellent choice of subject matter, Luke! These bridges - or very similar ones - could once be found just about everywhere. They can also be well-employed in place of tunnel portals, since most railroad layouts end up having to incorporate an unrealistic number of tunnels to lead track to staging or out through the backdrop for a few feet. With a cut and a good clump of vegetation to help block the view, a small bridge like this - perhaps with a stopped vehicle on it - can be an excellent alternative to yet another tunnel portal, suggesting the tracks merely disappear behind a hill or into the forest.

    Luke, your videos make me want to tear down my entire layout and rebuild it better. Ugh, if only I'd known some of your tricks (curving flex track!) beforehand! As it is, I might do that to the scenery anyway. Thanks for another incredible tutorial.

      lol... that good news is that it's not too hard to improve upon existing scenery 😀 I'm glad you have been able to pick up a few tips and tricks

    It's 'very awesome' that you use the specific detail about the materials used in your creations. That was the most exciting part of watching your video for me. You have done an impressive job sharing.
