    Sir, this is the best video on replacing the door lock...after watching about 18 videos that are talking about something else, home problems, speeding video up etc. Excellent presentation.

    Awesome video! This is the best instructional video to replace the individual lock without taking the whole mechanism apart. Well done! Thank you!

    FINALLY SHOWS THE ACTUAL REMOVAL OF THE LOCK CYLINDER FROM THE ORANGE CLIP!!! Man, thanks, got so tired of watching these repair videos where the dude just talks about his gf or whatever or fast forwards the repair.

    Helpful video, Thanks. It sure would have helped to show how you handled not losing the nuts on the inside of the door though. I appreciate the video.

      Yeah losing the nuts/bolts I've actually put a piece of chewed soft Bubblegum to hold the nut or bolt in place in the socket and that worked.

    Had someone take, what I’m guessing is, a screwdriver to my drivers side lock in the mall parking lot last night. I’m thinking this is all I need. Wish I could drop a picture here for someone to look at. Thanks for the help!

      @@jcobra09 Should be the same as this video then. If you have roll up windows instead of power that's the only little difference. Just remove the roll handles with a screwdriver, they have a hidden cover. the arm rest pries up pretty much the same. If you have hand tools, its not the worst job to do. I would use a telescoping magnet when you loosen the screws they fall in pretty easy. Also, there is a bar that is located on the handle inside the door they don't show in this video. You can see it its held on with two screws if you go to ebay and find picture of it handle for sale. Basically either don't remove that bar if you can do the work with it attached, if you remove the bar leave it off or be prepared to fiddle with it for a long time. Not terrible but its a little tricky re-attaching that bar. I've done two of these replacement door and igniton jobs, one took me an hour piece of cake the other was a PITA took me like 2.5 hours.

    The hardest part you didn't show! Getting the 11mm bolts back on to the lock assembly. Otherwise...very good

      He skipped showing the plate fastened to the handle with T15 also, he doesn't show that or mention it at all. But you can see them on replacment handle assembly sold on ebay, they show a phillips screw but I always run into T15.

      I live in Portland Oregon and I have had my poor f250 2006 6.0 broken into twice and then stole the third time from snapping the passenger door handle to get in and then my ignition being hammered through with a standard screw driver lol Got my truck back and I am purchasing new ignition and a new door lock with new handles. You can literally turn my truck on with your hand at this point. Got a bright yellow security club bar for steering wheel that’s very visible to anyone who looks at my truck. I’m sorry your truck got broken into. I no longer leave anything in my truck and always lock the Club on the steering wheel preventing anyone from steeling it. The security Club bar has been used for years but it definitely prevents thieves from even trying to steel one’s vehicle. If people stopped steeling that would solve everything lol

    Where did you get a cylinder that works with the ignition key?

  • @thesetruths1404
    @thesetruths1404 4 місяці тому

    These have defective design and can be knocked thru to turn latch with any key or flathead screwdriver. There is an aftermarket fix for this, it's like a steel plate that blocks the defective part from breaking. The small retainer ring is weak and they break it with a flathead screwdriver and hammer.

I feel the linkage worked it was off the back of the lock..may be ez fix, and on the outside door handle, a cable or linkage rod is broken or unattached.

      Maybe just order a un-coded un-keyed door lock, have a locksmith key it to match and replace bad lock. The truck thief will probably attack your one working lock after you swap it. Murphys law
