A year later but this helped me connect to my new ps4 and ps5. It wouldn't connect any other way without the Sony 18 inch long charger cord. All 5 other USB cords would only charge

Can someone help me. I have tried 9 usb cables on 3 different good working controllers. I used the original cable and it still won't work. I did the restore to default setting on my ps4. And heres what happens. I plug in all different type of usb cables and still nothing its stuck on that blue connect screen. Than i did the restart ps4 where you have options of what you wanna do and that is the only time my controller works, after i click the option restore to default setting, the controllers go out, all of them, so can someone please give me a hand im really loosing it here.( also i have them all charged i have resetted each controller unplugged the ps4 and nothing.) Just please someone help me.
This didn’t work for me, my light went orange and nothing happened. Starting to regret forgetting all other Bluetooth devices as a method before attempting this
if you go to devices then Bluetooth devices and connect the controller you want to pair to the usb press the share and ps button till it starts flashing and a new device should appear and then click on that device and it should pair if the ways in the video don’t work had to figure it out myself so hope it helps anyone else I also wasn’t using the original usb so might be why I had to do it that way

My first controller died so I connected my second controller to my phone as well to continue playing apex now that I'm done I figured I'd be able to just reconnect both my controllers once they were recharged. Guys, you MUST use a cable with data transmit capabilities. I used 3 different ones and none of them worked. I was worried something was wrong with my controller or PS4. I ended up dredging out an old connection cable that came with my DSLR camera ffs lol. 1 way to determine whether your cable can transmit data is to plug it into your phone and the other end into your PC (prob the source of your troubles in the first place lol). Pull down the notification shade (top of your phone), and look for a notif along the lines of "USB charging. Two for options". Tap on it and choose "transfer files". If you can see your phone along your hard drives, SSDs, and other devices, that means it's connected to the PC. This test guarantees that the cable has data transmit. However, if your phone ONLY charges, and the "USB charging. Tap for options" notif doesn't even pop up, then your cable ISN'T data capable. I don't believe there's any other way to pair your controller with the PS4, without the controller being able to talk to the PS4 thru the cable!

To begin i press the ps button and the share button at the same time which brings me the quick double flash which signals pairing mode. Frim there i connect my usb.After I connect the USB it doesn't give me a clear white light glow like yours when it's plugged into the ps4. Mine is like a dull yellow orange almost when I plug it into my ps4 and when I press the ps button it just blinks unconnected.
All I did differently is when it’s in pairing mode and it’s blinking rapidly, I go to Bluetooth connects on the ps4 settings and connect the controller from there and it works
