Oh he was adorable! I love that shy smile that slowly lights up his face when he knows he's said something really witty! A wonderful human being, who loved other human beings, despite their many cruelties to him.

Very true ..loved the old longer interviews when u really got to know the person ..one show is awfull ..just plug plug plug ...miss wogan .parky .even harty ....
I've only recently started to read up more about and watch interviews with the wonderful Quentin and I have to say, what a lovely man he appeared to be. Also, he was so very handsome as a young man.. his face was just breathtaking. Love listening to him too❣️
God I adored this man ..that wonderful voice and fantastic attitude to life ...I was shocked to find in his last book that in his mind he was trans ..not an effeminate homosexual as he once described himself ..God bless u Quentin ..you were a legend ..
I remember watching this as a secondary school boy on the night it was broadcast, in my 'home' in Enfield, north London. I remember Crisp saying how young people had money: I recall thinking how I had bugger all money! I would have loved to have bumped into Crisp and bought him a cup of tea and had a chin wag.
he was such a cool man ...it must have been absolutely fascinating to know him ... what a wonderful dinner guest he must have been.. I imagine he suffered for his sexuality in pre and post war Britain ... but he always stayed true to himself ..
I love everything about Quentin Crisp. He is so amusing. I am a mix between an Evangelist and a Clown! Oh my goodness he had a way with words. I loved the fact he never cleaned. He was brill.
Never an ‘um...’ or an ‘ah...’ . Remarkably articulate person, maybe the last example of the one cultural benefit that hostility to homosexuals produced - the ability to experience and analyze society from outside it. Great art in many genres has come from this unique perspective.
Just like Oscar Wilde before and Morrisey since - Quentin wanted to be adored from afar. America was the perfect foil - in England we've always had the upper class twit, the village idiot and a stream of curiosities. Where as in America Quentin would always be the unique English curiosity and thus quench his need to be 'looked over' and never 'overlooked'.

vordman Attraction (or likability) toward a man doesn’t depend on the man's sexuality. Women can be attracted to gay men either on the basis of their looks and/or because they are relatable. It does not translate logically that those men are therefore closet heterosexuals.
An attention seeker. The local library sold his book in a sale and muggins bought it. It was a world within a world: population 1. Admittedly, his writing is better than average, sometimes deft, so I finished it. In the book I found him self obsessed and indifferent towards others. Basically it had no soul.
Old school Elegance,,, witty,, intellectual,, the sort of person you could listen to nonstop without getting bored...
Quinten was simply brilliant. He was so far ahead of his time; he is still in-front of us in 2023.
What an absolute star-the world would be a happier place if people could pay attention to what Quentin has to say.

This man is so captivating and eloquent
He's such a wonderful & colourful Personality. He's refreshingly straightforward! Dommage he did not enjoy celebrity status earlier!
A beautiful, gentle, kind and fabulous man ❤🌈💚

Some words of wisdom here.....from both Mr Crisp and Wogan. This show used to air on BBC1 at 7pm. Its a far fucking cry from the One Show of today....
Qballs Hanratty what do you want at 7pm? Fucking life stories of a purple headed pofter? Well maybe thats not for everyone you douch!

Even Terry asking some good questions here. RIP both!

I've only just learned about Mr. Crisp. I feel very lucky that I have.
What a sweet darling xxx
Such an insightful, interesting man. So self aware, self deprecating and funny.

Legend & Icon.
What a treasure of a human being!
I like this interviewer a great deal. In some ways he reminds me of Dick Cavett. Both he and Crisp are calm, poised, and attentive.
A wonderful man.

Quentin Crisp wrote good books. Read them!

Quinton Crisp for President!
It's really annoying how the audience are laughing, it comes across as disrespectful to Quentin. He was a very wise man.

He's absolutely trying to make them laugh!
int'resting!
He looks so stylish and doesn't pretend to be a woman.

i was bullied at school etc i can relate to him im a feminine man i to have been bashed for just being me disgusting how the audience is laughing

The interviewer and the audience, so 1980's British, is why he left Britain.
