Forgot to include the Bob Knight halftime rant where he yelled: “I’m sick and tired of losing to Purdue!!”

Your explanation of why IU got to go to the NCAA tournament in 1940 (which was their first NCAA title) is not quite correct. In John Wooden's book, he explains in a section about principles... "And Mr. Ward Lambert, my coach at Purdue, demonstrated extraordinary devotion to his principles, and was willing to suffer whatever consequences that entailed. For example, coach Lambert believed all intercollegiate games should be played on or near the campus of one of the participating schools. This, of course, ran counter to what was required in the playoffs, where games were often played on distant courts. Coach felt this deprived the students of the colleges involved and placed an unfair travel burden on them [travel was much different in 1940 than today] . He also believed it was inappropriate to hold intercollegiate competitions in commercial venues. In 1940 Purdue won the Big 10 title, and along with it a trip to the playoffs in Madison Square Garden. Coach Lambert subsequently withdrew Purdue's team from the national tournament. Indiana, the team that had finished just behind Purdue in the standings, was the replacement team and won the national championship that year. Coach Lambert held to his principles. He was true to his beliefs." - From Wooden: A lifetime of observations and reflections on and off the court. (1997, p 22-23). Whatever you think of Coach Lambert's views and decision, that is how IU got to go to the 1940 tournament despite not winning the Big 10 that year.

@@youtuber3328 Why? like why do you hate all Indiana teams. Ball state is extremely random, they aren’t even relevant. What did they beat up on your College team back in the 50s?
