Paul Westerberg (former lead singer, guitarist and songwriter with the Replacements) wrote this song about his own father, in 2004. Every time I hear it, or sing it myself, I can't help but think of my own dear dad, who died in the year 2000.

I don't remember if I ever heard this song by Paul Westerberg, but the lyrics are very moving. My dad passed away when I was 20 years old, he was 51 when he died. It's not easy to lose a family member. You did a wonderful presentation of this cover, Robert! Excellent and very touching my friend!! :-)

I surprise myself sometimes, Mike! I occasionally find new names to add to my favourites' list, musically. Some of them are unlikely candidates, but they can truly surprise and impress me with their talent. Paul Westerberg is such a man. A former member of the Replacements, who started out as a Punk Rock band (not usually my kind of music at all). But on hearing some of Paul's solo work I could see that he was a fine songwriter, and I ended up buying two of his albums on CD! Thank you for your comment, my friend! Have a great weekend!
