I consider Dave Alvin to be one of the greatest songwriters around. His songs are full of real meaning and well-worked imagery. He is also a fine singer and a highly accomplished guitarist (both acoustic and electric). If you are not familiar with his work I urge you to seek out some of his songs on UA-cam.
