    Your videos are inspiring - no matter the conditions, or the challenge, you keep a cool head and persevere until the job gets done. Or do you snap and get frustrated and holler off camera? …And Lorenzo is always mellow and a good sport…Nicely done!

    I grew up on a ranch in eastern Oregon. All of haying equipment were buckets of rust. I didn’t realize how much fun it was running this equipment until I watched your channel. Love your channel. Love how you’re bringing up your kids. They will have critical thinking that most kids have no idea what that even means.

    To prevent the roll from pulling up off the rack again, you can flip it around so that the pipe goes downward, then between the roll and the dozer, then up over the dozer. That would unroll it in the opposite direction which would pull it downward and backward instead of upward and forward, Also, flipping it would have the preset curve in the pipe going in the same direction as the curved tube inside the plow-piper.

    Your batteries and cables will last a lot longer if you protect them with conductive grease (not dielectric grease!). You will probably have to go an electric supply store to get it, I've never seen it in a auto parts store. Your batteries will last much if you keep them fully charged at all time. Keep them connected to a battery maintainer when you're not using the vehicle. I used to install batteries for the Bell System and sometimes they lasted for many decades because they were kept on float (2.17 vdc) all the time.

    mount an old V-Belt pulley on top of cab for pipe to lie in and you won't have any problems with the pipe feeding over the cab.old pulley will turn and actually make it easier for the pipe to be dragged.

    Suggestion: Keep a piece of rope on the equipment to use as a "tag line" to help control things you're lifting and carrying, such as that ripper shank. Could prevent serious damage to the front of the backhoe, and make life a bit easier for Riley in those conditions. He is a VERY careful and professional young operator.

    On your boom truck if you only have the two 12V batteries in series, you do not need to separate the batteries to charge them. Hook directly to the terminals of one battery and charge it. ****REMOVE BOTH + AND - JUMPER CABLE ENDS**** BEFORE moving jumper cable to other battery. Else you will put 24 v to charging vehicle or dead short the electrical system on the running vehicle, depending upon which ( + or -) end you move first.

    When you repair the overhead guide think about building the bottom guide as a roller that might ease the stress on the whole tool. I believe I would build the pin guides out of heavier pipe and then close them in with square stock if possible.

    If you unschool off the bottom by turning your pipe around. It'll pull-down, not up. What's again? The type is on the bulldozer backwards.
    Turn the school around, so it's feeding off the bottom, not the top.

  • @dennisbrock5376
    @dennisbrock5376 5 місяців тому

    Hay. You don't need to unhook the battery. Just hook up on each battery, correctly, pos on pos ,neg on negative. It will take 2 different trucks. Or you can just hook up 1 battery at a time. To confirm that put a voltage tester on each battery and you should get 12 v on each battery.

    Are you putting any T-Posts or other markers in the ground where you join together 2 rolls of pipe at someplace other than a shut-off valve (which have the PVC pipes to access and mark them)? If the pipe ever does leak in the future, those connecting seams might be the likeliest spots. And since leaks unfortunately seem to occur when it's extra cold, windy, and almost dark, being able to find them quick would be nice... 😉😄

  • @DavidHutson-pt5pe
    @DavidHutson-pt5pe 5 місяців тому

    A good reason to install shut-off valves at EVERY tank and "point of use". A valve on that tank would save the water until the pipeline work is finished.
    Yes, I'm being the "arm-chair quaterback" here. Looks like your putting that pipe near 4 feet deep. In your part of the country there you ought to fine, with no worried about frost going deep enough in the ground to freeze the water, if you could only put it around 2 feet deep, but I suppose you have your reasons for putting it deeper.

    Your Fab Rats Cuzzin, Paul;s motto seems appropriate: " We do it nice because we do it twice!" Cowboy engineering is still amazing! Does the feeder tube need to pivot? Since there doesn't seem to be many hard turns would it still function if welded solid to the ripper?
    Bailing wire and spit hold better than anyone ever imagined! Kink it over and wire it up!

    Your pipe laying set up is working ok ,you just need to make the fittings stronger. Perhaps make a forked hole set up, out of heavy plate, half inch to three quarters thick plate. to weld on both sides of the claw. Make lots of plates as hinge sections. Maybe a hard face run on plate edges to resist wear.

    David here, i have a thought for you. I have older Mack truck, it sets for months. I have 60 w solar panel with a small charge controller, battery's are always hot. You mite disconnect a cable to get back to 12 volt, also other ways to get your solar up to 24 volt output. I use alligator clips to clip to my batteries, I remove when i drive the truck, turn the solar panel face down when not in uses.
