@@livinginorangevilleontario4246 Wait, the BETA (male) review of the Slayer didn't give you an accurate feel of the way it rides? "Like, its like, you know, its like a big bike.. Like.."

Cracking edit Jeff, so awesome to see and hear you mirror opinions ive shared over the years regarding Rocky Mountain. Working in the industry for the past 34yrs ive had opportunity’s to ride soo many different bikes and still to this day the Rocky Mountain Instinct has been without a doubt thee best I’ve ever ridden and owned.. I am keen to get another now but have to wait a while as none are available.. Again awesome edit and fantastic to hear your thoughts and opinions mate.. Keep on boosting. Craig...
I thoroughly understand what you mean about being "off" from a head injury. I have had 6 concussions in my life and three were really bad, two of the injuries I was knocked unconscious. I don't do jumps and drops anymore because of what seems to be a balance issue when airborne. It's weird, but as long as I feel the connection with the ground, all is good. Plus at 54 yrs old, I don't bounce like I use to when I do screw up. My mantra is a Dirty Harry saying, "A man's got to know his limitations"......I know mine. Keep up the awesome riding.
Just got my c70 blue 29 about a month ago, ordered it July 3rd last year. Absolutely shreds, the only thing that bugs me is that it didn't get that super cool sparkly color on the rear triangle or fron triangle. Edit: nice video man!
Just ordered this baby on sale for bike park use. It's not a straight up dh bike but I'm hoping it should be pretty close in terms of capability. I'm a strong beginner and thinking of getting more park days in this summer. Hopefully this will be a good fit for my purpose. For the price, it was an easy decision
Please answer this question! if you had to pick between a yeti sb165 mulleted and the rockymtn slayer what would you pick if you could only have one bike.
Would love to hear/see your thoughts on the Growler. I just started riding this year and picked up a Growler 40 that I ride on the North Shore. Hope you get to ride one! Also hope the border opens soon and you can head up here again. Love your shore videos.
You have such a unique style and level of competence, I'm surprised you aren't featured in more areas of the mtb industry. It makes me think your current contracts are holding you back. But if you are making a living with what you got, then there's no need for excess.
I have a slayer and was going to upgrade it this year. I love how confident it descends and it eats up all the jank, loam holes, and roots. However, I don’t send it big. Is the altitude as confident in descents? Trying to decide if I should make the switch to the altitude instead. I do 70% shuttles and the rest is 45 min use climbs with a focus on fast janky descents.
loved this vid. I currently have slayer but considering going for an altitude and can’t decide. did you notice much difference on super rooty, chundery descents. I love how stable and confident my slayer is on descents but I don’t do big jumps and drops so wondering if the altitude would descend as capable but make the trail part more fun.
Thanks man! We put probably too much work into these videos, but it's also just too much fun! Having a bike that's a little out of the ordinary for the channel makes it that much more of an opportunity to do something different, too.
N* opening back up this year, my local shop has these in stock as well! Though for me, I'd rather have a trail bike and a DH bike rather than riding a beast like this on the relatively mellow Tahoe trails.
Hey man, I'd personally be over the moon with an Altitude 29" as my only bike. But that's me and this is the kind of riding I do daily. As long as you have the trails to necessitate such a bike, send it!!!
RM should just give you the bike!....LOL. I'm contemplating getting a back up bike and been considering the Growler, but not sure if I will miss the Shock!...LOL. Maybe I'll get a short travel 29er instead?
Very good review! Thanks for your work! 👏🏻 I am thinking about to buy the slayer for riding in bikeparks and go for some short enduro trails. But I am not so sure about climbing up the hill with that bike. With a coil on the back it’s hard or can I lock it as th other suspension? I am searching for a good bike for going riding some enduro trails down and up and can hit big jumps with doing some tricks. So is that slayer a good choice for doing this?
Thanks! We have a lot of talented, dedicated trail builders here. Between the Shire Crew, Transition Bikes, and the WMBC, there's been a lot of hard work put in.
Love this bike if I didn't turn to the dark side this would have been the bike I wanted, well Altitude as well if being honest in fact all Rocky bikes would be the dream 👊🏻🤣 great video, really enjoyed it.
Hey Jeff, great review. Short, sharp, and to the point 👍 . I just took delivery of my Slayer [27.5] a couple of weeks ago but haven't ridden it yet as I want to get it protected first and am also waiting on a larger spring. Apart from it being a rad bike and as I always wanted a Rocky Mountain, I really got it for the fact that I'm returning to mountain biking properly after a few years on the road bike and I wanted a kind of do-it-all bike that really inspired confidence. Given what is available worldwide, it was and is just a tad burlier than I would have liked, however, it was one of the very few bikes immediately available to me. It's a lot of money and I hope I haven't gone too far 😬 . I have a mix of rocky single trail, some smooth-ish single-track, and bike park to ride. Not having ridden mine yet or to the level you ride, do you think I'm good?
Oh shit 5:50 is the Papago Dirt Jumps! Dude I would freak the fuck out if I saw you on trail literally 5 miles from my house lmao. Good save by the way ;P Also lets not kid ourselves... You're as much of an XC rider as any of us are Redbull Rampage 75ft downhill backflippers......
@@JeffKendallWeed you could do the Canada loop... Coast Gravity, Squamish, Whistler, Kamloops, Revelstoke (my home) then down through the Kootneys, Nakusp, Nelson, Rossland... Soo much riding.
@@JeffKendallWeed hi! Yes indeed i am riding one, a month now.. i didnt have any info from reviews when i ordered it just geo diagrams and whatever positive this company refers as any other companies about their bikes. But this bike is very good with good specs in relation with the money price and i think its a bike that you can give it go so more people can throw an eye on it, i watch your channel and i am sure you are the right person who can test its limits and give a descent review. Positive or negative. Take care!
The jump lines were built by a variety of locals for the most part- the Shire Crew built the hip and shark fin that are especially amazing. Nico Vink and Transition bikes built the really big, kinda straight set. And Transition sponsors the jump trail in the logging zone, and a bunch of Transition folk (and many others) chipped in to build that.
This might be the first review where I actually got a sense for how a bike feels to ride.
Legit! Most bike reviews just use a bunch of adjectives that literally make no sense when it comes to riding a bike lmao

Yew! Awesome job. IMO you portrayed the Slayer in an honest and appropriate manner. You were killing it on the jumps!!
Thank you! The Slayer was good fun, but it'd be a second bike rather than an only bike for me. I liked it, but wanted to be honest with all of ya too!
I love the narrating on this video, it’s so silly yet very descriptive. Over all the video was great. Well done 👊
Yes! Please ride the growler! It's the most aggresive hardtail I've ever ridden and it rips!
I have a 2020 Slayer and I ride it on the DH trails and my local regular run of the mill trails and it is amazing at both!
Right on!
You are so versatile, Jeff. Blows me away.
Thanks Julie! It was fun pretending to be a freerider for this!!!
@@JeffKendallWeed You're welcome, Jeff. Fun for all of us.
Set spring rate based on frequency of the system. If you're having bottom out problems you should use compression damping.

Great vid/production...drone shots put new perspective into the size of jumps.
Thanks for that amazing information. I am currently riding a growler 40 and am looking to get a full suspension. You sold me on the slayer
Amazing video! Tons of great info. Keep it up Jeff!
Thanks! Will do, German!
Sweet ride!! Fun your style!!
Great review. Love the droneshots synced with audio..
Seems like a good bike for Mountain Creek out in Jersey - it’s the rebranded Diablo Freeride Park
Ahhhh yeah it would generally be a great bike park bike- with the added bonus that you can rally it in more places than just the park.
