She was, and is, amazing! Just to give myself a lift, I often listen to her rendition of Kiss the Day Goodbye, from Chorus Line. That's not the right name, but Google that, and you'll find it! It's astonishing and makes me smile every time I hear it! It's on UA-cam, by the way!
I don't think that's fair and I bet if you asked her she would chide you for using her to speak negatively of others. She is amazing, but that doesn't mean others aren't. Kathleen Battle is singing again and she's still amazing and there are plenty of younger singers that are talented and work hard, just like Madam Price.
you all probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
The stunning image that transcends even her stirring performance at age 74, is the image of Miss Price, a black woman from Laurel, Mississippi, who came out of retirement to stand on a stage after 9/11 to honor the victims, and more importantly, her country. Watch this, race baiters, dividers, destroyers, ingrates and haters of today!
my God.. I cried at the end... it was just that stunningly beautiful, especially so knowing that she was 74 and hit that last note dead on!! BRAVA Ms Price!
The freedom, the resonance, the airflow, the effortless permission given to cause a high F to resound like this... I am simply in awe covered in goosebumps.
Who else could sing like this and with the Strenght of an entire Nation set in Her mindseye, it will never be equalled for its impact, sincerity and honesty in an era when this Great Nation needed to redefine its Strenght and Freedom. Thank You Ms. Price, a divine gift.
Why do people have to start applauding while she's still singing? Ler her finish the damn note and then applaud! I'm interested in hearing her, not your clapping!
Go 'head, Miss Price. This is beautiful. And the way you soared up to that last note you hit and held...come on! Goosebumps. I know that's a difficult note. Not one excuse.
I'm American, living in the USA. This woman is a true treasure🎁🎁😎 Thank you for this post, Jor Taga. Mil grazi🙏 This inspires me to be a better citizen. I see 9 people forgot to take their swimmers ear plugs out of their ears. Good luck to you 9s.
Look at the love. Look at the passion. Look how proud she is of her country. And to think her people go through so much.....in a country they love SO DAMN MUCH...smh. DO BETTER!
Wow. Extraordinary. She was 74 at this time, and lured out of retirement for this performance. My question: If she was still sounding this amazing, why did she retire a number of years before this? I'd like to know what her life is like now, at 92. Is she living independently? Is she well?
She was interviewed after she turned 90 and she was as sharp as a tack then. I know she sold her home on Vandam street a few years back (I passed it so many times and was always tempted to ring the bell but was afraid the police would take me away) but I'm not sure where she is now. I would also love to know that she is well and happy.
@ChaunceytheGardener The last I heard, Madame Priceless 👑💙 is still living in Maryland & is well taken care of ♥️💯. She is a very intelligent regal true lady. And once you hear her live, you will be hearing phenomenal GREATNESS. Her recordings do not do her justice & that is a sign of a complete great artist. We had the grand previlidge to hear her twice, 1974 & 1985. And I'm telling everyone that she has the greatest voice to come out of America. Maria Callas once said the Madame Priceless that her voice had so much color that she got chills when she first heard her sing Leonora from Il Trovatore in Europe in the early 1960s. If that's not the ultimate complement coming from the greatest artist of the modern era. Viva Madame Priceless per sempre America's greatest Diva absoluta. 💙👑🙏🙏🌏🌍 Greetings from France 🇫🇷 ❤️ Arnaud Bourbon Amaral
At 74 came out of retirement for tribute after Sept 11 tragedy -- -- this is AMAZING!! think even she delightfully pleased herself with that final note THIS NEEDED PLAYED FOR ALL THOSE SICK SICK people WE HAVE BURNING THE AMERICAN FLAG today!!!!!!! Though VERY sadly I doubt most of them would even get it!☹️ -- am ssooo very concerned about my country
I hope you're concerned about the right people, those who have been undermining our democracy for almost four years with lies, corruption, and incompetence.
She’s truely a gift to this world. Thank you Ms Price
She came out of retirement just to sing this.
Sounding glorious at 74!

Yes, incredible. What a welcome!
todays singers cannot hold a candle to ms price's amazing artistry

What you speak of is the age old "all the good singers are dead" line which is repeated again and again and again crusty queens.
My god that last note bflat at 74 was flawless ! She’s now over 90 & says she can still hit a high F if she’s alone in the shower 🤣🤣
What is your source?
Lol.
I’m actually familiar with someone very close to her, and that was in fact confirmed last year on her birthday!
@@matthewharris1660 as well as this year on her birthday
@@TSquared2001 lol by the same source too 😉
The placement and ease with which she nails that final B flat is simply magical.
It is the year 2021, and Leontyne Price has for some time now been acclaimed rightfully as the world’s greatest living soprano.
No she hasn't.
I agree, she has!!
Shut up fool.
@@FairyForest87keep your opinion
The Voice of the Century. At age 74 Miss Price still is able to deliver a great performance.
Joan Sutherland was the voice of the century. Not price
Neither of them. It was Rosa Ponselle. Or Kirsten Flagstad. Or maybe Maria Callas. Or…
It definitely wasn’t Callas or Sutherland. Flagstad, maybe.
How can she should like this even at 74 years old???? She's an Angel...she has to be!
She is still alive and singing at 91
@@funman8430 When asked if she still sang she said "yes...its the only part of me that still works!"
To be 74 and still have the pipes to attack this..a cappella no less. I remember watching this years back. Amazing!!
If you didnt get chills or goosebumps at that final note, you werent paying attention. My god!
The last note tells EVERYTHING!
Electrifying!!
she's just, uhhhh....she's just incredble. A voice that just takes your breath away.
I'm getting verklempt listening to this, on this her 97th birthday.
Probably the best soprano of 20th century.
The best 🙌🏽
Leontyne Price is and will always be number 1 Soprano. She is the bench mark!
Happy 94th birthday. 🎂
my God.. I cried at the end... it was just that stunningly beautiful, especially so knowing that she was 74 and hit that last note dead on!! BRAVA Ms Price!
MADAME PRICELESS MON AMIE. GREETINGS FROM FRANCE 🇨🇵 ARNAUD BOURBON AMARAL 💃💯🤗🤗🌏🌎🙏👑
Instant tears to my eyes. A true treasure to the world.
Same Matt! I never tire of this performance.
The orchestra and chorus stand for her.
Yes, and, they continued to stand!!
Audience, too.
This woman is a force of nature whose voice is incredible! May she sing forever in our hearts!
She is still living
She’s a cousin of Whitney Houston! Explains a lot!
No she's not!!! Please stop saying that. Madame price is not related to Whitney Houston. 😣
I am aware she's living. My comments were meant as praise, not as a eulogy. Geez!
@@arnoldamaral3814 They are distant cousins, but I don't think they were close.
Still the best opera lady to walk the stage her talent will surely live on.
Happy 90th Birthday Leontyne Price
The freedom, the resonance, the airflow, the effortless permission given to cause a high F to resound like this... I am simply in awe covered in goosebumps.
its a B-flat. not an F.
Great Bflat! She still was magnificent! God! I just love her!
From the mountains. I’m obsessed with her.
THAT VOICE IS PRICELESS
What on earth! She made me cry
That “Home sweet home” at the end was perfection❤️
That little girl from Laurel, Mississippi knew no bounds: racially, culturally or musically.

She probably wanted to preserve whatever voice she had left, and leave her performance career on a high note. No pun intended. Heehee.
The rehearsal and performance schedule can be grueling even for a younger person. She probably just wanted to go out on a high note and relax.
