  • David Rennie joins us live from Beijing to discuss the world as the Chinese leadership sees it.
In the 18 months since we last spoke to David Rennie, Beijing Bureau Chief and "Chaguan" columnist for The Economist magazine, China has become more central to international developments: a more assertive Chinese foreign policy, repression of free speech in Hong Kong, increasing pressure on Taiwan, new Chinese silos for nuclear missiles, and China offering to extend its Belt and Road initiative into Afghanistan.
The Quad, formed in part as a counterbalance to China, seems shaky with India reevaluating its geostrategic relationships. President Xi is the strongest Chinese leader since Chairman Mao.
Watch the discussion to hear more about China's position regarding the domestic and international economy, foreign policy, and the environment.
