Thank you, @WinterStarcraft, for another amazing cast of our Grand Finals! This was probably the last time ravens were used in this capacity, so the next final should look completely different :) Maybe a whole lot of Zerg?!
This is all I play for years now. I recently played a 1v1 nonarcade, and holy cow, it's so damn hard. I watch every GSL and ESL tourney, but none of my knowledge translates to action. Arcade all the way.
who would have thought that anti-armor missiles and liberator shots is such a good background sound to go to sleep, now i need 1 hour video of terrans fighting
I love direct strike because it's the one game on the arcade where you can make no mistakes and still lose because your team mates think it's OK to grab 3 gas in 5 minutes.
Well if every one take gas gues you hace to take gas too since you not gonna take the damn mid that easy and hope that you team hold so you can use tech advantage and get back to the game.
@@aquireeverything9382 Personally I don't like to take my first gas until we have held the middle for a significant amount of time or break the opponent pylon quickly
This might sound stupid, so feel fun to call me a big dumb idiot, but direct strike always makes me wonder why high level Terran don't throw a few reapers into bio armies early game, and use them like ghosts, throwin out some grenades to offset your opponents damage/positioning a little. Idk maybe it just like, wouldn't do anything, and in some cases the grenades might cause more harm than good, but I could see a lot of scenarios where the cost of 1 or 2 reapers absolutely pays for itself with grenade value. And if Terran players can micro ghost emp in tvp while managing their bio army, I don't see how a couple reapers would be all that much different
For more SC2 direct strike content, you can listen to this bit of shameless plugging. First, you can go to Tya's personal channel, Tya, where you get daily direct strike fights, where you can play the guessing game about which unit's will win and post your 0/4s in the comments. There is also, as mentioned by winter, project incurus, who has some older direct strike commander's and weekly brawl videos, plus a good number of livestreams. Then, if you want daily weekly brawl videos, there is wujooz blazeman gaming, who does daily videos on the weekly brawl. Last week was kitchen sink, which, whilst it was kinda samey just because of how the modifier works and also a recent han and horner change putting out a more defined kitchen sink meta than normal, does show off a lot of commander's in each video.
I didn’t know anyone did this mode seriously! It’s super fun to mess around in casually. I love making the armies, not just playing around with army composition but also setting up battle lines for them to spawn in. Like doing three massive lines of zerglings, with some columns of banelings, and Uktralisks to soak up some damage is just entertaining o watch. I really need to get a computer so I can play this game again.
A thing to keep in mind is the commander ratings on ds-rating are lifetime. Looking at commander ratings per patch gives a better idea of their current strength.
Here are some fresh chess-tactics for all non Desert Striker out there: - Mass Queens (dont do it against protoss, 1 templar will fuck you up) and mass mutas - Mass Sentry with Hallucination (when the enemy doesnt have detection those are OP.) - Cant think of anything. Mass Banshees? Idk. JUST BUILD MARINES MAN! Some good2follow-Rulezz: - Mid Control gives you extra gas. Therefore dont take gas if you cant control mid. - click onto your opponent units to see their upgrades. Try to match that kinda. - you can scan the base of your enemy, reveiling their gas - take upgrades after your units have been sent out. They will still count for that army. So you can squeeze 1 or 2 more units in
I’m glad you explained to the noobs that early gas geysers screw over the whole team and that mid is worth 2 gas for the whole team at no cost. Also you can choose what lane you’re in in the lobby, first person on your team is first wave, middle or second person in lobby on your team, mid wave, ect. So you know who you’re going against in the lobby screen and can try to counter pick a race that’s good against theirs, like if I go against Zerg I just go Protoss and rush tier 2 and spam archons gg
I'm going to mald if I watch this video, as a long term player who as lost countless games because a teammate kept making banelings vs marauders and similarly silly stuff this will be nothing but PTSD inducing
I don’t play sc2 anymore I just watch so I don’t really care about direct strike but hopefully this comment makes up for me clicking off the video after 30 seconds
Give dehaka a banshee and the game is lost, nobody is going to upload those abysmal games but its just a loss Same as tychus against siege air or artanis against light/typeless Or on the flipside, Karax vs idk swann with pure mechanical and energizers stealing everything
I love to see high quality standard sc2 match but dirdct strike.... High quality match Is super booooring. Player who micro units and abilities just kill the game. Libs to imba.
Zerg is terrible in DS. They have the worst AA and late game units. Ultras are better with the patch but end game, zerg suffers a lot. Though arguable zerg won that 4th game, but that's because the protoss decided to go carriers. It is a trash unit that gets countered very hard by all races, particularly by Terran as we saw. Thors if it weren't obvious. Going carriers in any single scenario is a mistake. Getting any other units is probably better. the cost proposition of 475 (i think? maybe 450) just doesn't make sense when you can get any other units that are better for cheaper. Zerg can't win a skytoss game, but if your teammate has Terran they can carry that shoulder with thors and as a Zerg you can focus on the ground army like getting ultras and lurkers. Ultras are competitive now since their prices kept dropping for how shit they were. I think it's currently at 350 (maybe 325 even? used to be like 400 or 450 in the very past) and is a good tanking unit for their cost
@@theral056 Low apm. Just sitting there watching most of the game. Puts me to sleep. Playing against people in games where you control 100% of the movements is much harder and more fun.
@@justincox8658 I see! Yeah I see where you're coming from. For me it's not boring at all, then again I play lots of turn based strategy stuff and card games as well, which also doesn't require high APM, so I never thought of it as being necessary for a game to be exciting. But I guess if you're really into SC2 ladder, yup, it's a very different pace!

We learned by watching other bad players, can you share the proper rate for gas taking?

Reapers are used vs terran, rarely vs zerg ground and can be used to bounce sentries forward vs protoss.

Yesssss I was just thinking we needed more direct strike!

Lol. I played so much Direct Strike and had no idea you can micro the units xD
This isn't Direct Strike. Where's the protoss player who gets 3 gas before mass un-upgraded stalkers then rages about their allies in chat?
Really enjoyed the Zerg gameplay here!
Aaaaaand now I'm addicted..
How to win at direct strike 101 - play Terran
Year later and I take this back, play Zerg to win at direct strike
i remember playing the original map in the starcraft, it was my most favorite, and played map back then.
Watching this game as a pure commanders player and seeing 18mins go by without so much as a single gas from anybody truly boggled my mind lol
You got it wrong. Center line is worth 12 gas, because by losing mid, you also give mid to the other team.
Here are some fresh chess-tactics for all non Desert Striker out there:

I really love direct strike
So here's a maybe-dumb question: what do all the targeting priority changes (e.g. to interceptors) do to Direct Strike?
Interceptors are invulnerable in direct strike anyway. Stasis wards are affected I think
Targeting in DS is completely different from regular games. It’s hard to get hydras to shoot up for instance.
I don't understand why they don't build medivacs although they already have tier 1 and they mostly have only ground units in the beginning
U been watching UEBS2 videos with that kind of cinematography xD
What's the reason for not using ghosts against toss, or colossus versus bio? There is literally no AOE in these games
I have precisely zero context for what's going on in cinematic mode.
Wow, the Nexus targeting really made them lose the game by not hitting what was attacking it first lol
Can you do a little gameplay of this mode given some explanations and stuff?
i like this mode in wow3
and dota2
its call castle fight
I'm going to mald if I watch this video, as a long term player who as lost countless games because a teammate kept making banelings vs marauders and similarly silly stuff this will be nothing but PTSD inducing
Are players honor bound to leave their worker in their base? It would be an advantage to move it out so that the other team can’t scan it.
Why would they hide workers if everyone knows their opponents' races?
@@Tdvtdvtdv people hide their workers because the upgrade animation is on the worker.
@@DrewMiller1why waste scans trying to catch an upgrade?
I don't think spellcasters are being micro'd
winter daddy for ever
Would like more of this, maybe experiment with other popular gamemodes.

Yes!! Direct strike!
It's pronounced ya-moto, haven't you seen 2014 casts
'cinimatic mode for a couple of mins' procceeds to not talk for the entier game..
