I just got a P0505 on mine, is there any reading to the Connectors, Motor, ECM you can post here? that will help me alot. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you very much! I just had my 1999 one checked for a similar problem. Guys at Firestone misdiagnosed and 'fixed' throttle body and problem persisted. It starts and runs but 'hates' idles which goes from 750 down to ~500rpms. The error code though lists a misfire on cylinder # 5, but it looks like that air servo might not be doing so well... Thanks again for this great video!
failures of the IAC Valve are mostly caused by carbon deposits gumming up the travel of the valve piston thereby overloading the motor windings by excessive current draw. Regular cleaning of the IAC valve and the IAC port will help keep the valve motor healthy and functioning. My 2000 Montero Sport LS 3.0 Liter had the same problem. Upon removing the IAC, I found massive carbon and fuel varnish deposits in the IAC port. Cleaned / flushed with carb cleaner and installed a new IAC valve. Problem solved. NOTE: Be sure to regularly check the function and cleanliness of your PCV valve....if it is plugged up , crankcase gasses will build up and gum up many vacuum source components.
great video Jason. Mine just started to drop off idle a couple of times today when I stopped at a red light and at a drive through and when I the air compressor turns on and off. it is idling at about 800 rpms and only drops for a second or two barring twice when it stalled out. I saw a question about your diagnostic scanner. where did you get it and approx how much are they? I am thinking my problem is prob the IAC valve. Can it be cleaned effectively? Thanks
Great video. You seem to know a lot about Monteros. I just bought a 2001 and I haven't found a good forum yet so I'm gonna ask a few questions here and see what happens. I had a really low idle so I installed a new IAC. Now the idle seems too high. I'm wondering if a previous owner might have turned that screw you said should be left alone. Or maybe they fooled with the TPS to compensate? I'll mention that the CEL/MIL light is on and my code reader says EGR circuit. I have a new valve and solenoid I'm going to install today. I have new spark plugs too but after watching your other vid I'm going to wait for a nice sunny day to do that job ;)
Thanks, I'll check that out. Replacing that EGR solenoid is hard with large hands ;) Looks like somebody tried to replace the EGR valve because one of the bolts was broken off flush. It was fairly easy to get out though. Still have a high idle. Also a new code was pending.Evap emission system leak detected (large leak) says the scanner. Runs good.
Thanks Jason. I'm thinking the same. I put a new cap on it. If the code comes up again I'll trace the line from the tank. I don't even know where the purge valve is but the location might be in the online manual I found. The only thing I'm hearing is just the slightest variation in idle.
Jason Pez thanks for the fast reply. When I pinch the hose. The engine's idle drops low but doesn't die. My idle sits at 500 when in drive. Iacv is brand new.
Hey i have a 1999 mitsubishi montero sport 3.0 208k miles it seems to be running on only 4 cylinders instead of all 6 i got the spark plugs and wires changed and its still running the same what could be my problem
Sounds like you have 1 coil not working. Coils are controlled by the transistor module and triggered by the crank sensor. Seen lots of crank sensor plate retaining pins break after a timing belt change
@@buggzyy dose this issue throw a code cause my moms runs rough after timing belt replaced and we replaced wires coils idler controller egr valve module checked tons of things and it won’t shut off when I pinch hose and gunna check the cam sensor plate pin. How do you check egr vacume problem or not enough ??
Mine reads 32.5 on one side and 34.5 on the other, my idle is about 800 rpms and idles a little rough, i did clean this IAV valve and it ran and idled perfect for a week then it went back to its original idle which feels like a missfire but its not. should i replace my IAV to see if it fixes my idle issue?
I have a 2001 Mit Montero rough idling after 15 to 30 minutes of being driven.. after it starts acting up the engine will shut off at stop lights and will require for me to park aside and restart but it will continue in this way. I am looking at the Fuel CONSUMPTION MODULE MR239764 for this model. Any insight will be really appreciated.
Its been a while since I was looking to resolve this issue. Basically was a carbon built up related issue. The bypass valve and MAF sensors got a thorough shower. It's working very nice.
I own same one and replaced Air flow sensor that was a waste of money. Now just waiting for that part. Thank you
Thanks! I need to help my son out and this and the others listed are the types of vids I need to see so we can do a proper job. Again thanks.

@outOFthePITT Yes The IAC was the problem I since replaced and idle is perfect now.
Was there a code showing or no?
7 years ago but worth a shot...that IAC is 250 bucks holy shit

Install an oil catch can.
This valve sits upstream of the PCV system so an oil catch won't help much.

Michael Boykin check out monterosport.net has lots of good people lots of info as well

Michael Boykin evap. Large leak may be fuel cap or evap vapor hoses from fuel tank to purge valve. Or vent valve at tank not sealing

What does it mean if I pinch the egr solenoid hose and the engine doesn't shut off. Is the egr valve bad or solenoid?
Thomas Olivarez
If you pinch the hose and nothing happens then you have either a faulty valve or a lack of vacuum supply for the egr system
Jason Pez thanks for the fast reply. When I pinch the hose. The engine's idle drops low but doesn't die. My idle sits at 500 when in drive. Iacv is brand new.

I have MITSUBISHI PAJERO 2004, can you give me recommendation, what type of scanner to check the engine code?
is the spark plug change similar on the 3.0 IE ( 2001 montero sport ) as it is for the 3.5 as you performed on your montero
30ohms is still not good right?

idle air valve is dirty or needs to be replaced, go ahead and clean the maf sensor
In the past this module would die most likely due to connecting jumper cables in reverse.

por favor suban la instalacion de la valvula egr
